Happy new year, everypony! It's time again to make resolutions, and what better thing to do than resolve to help some of our beloved ponies reach 100 stories this year?
(I mean... sure, there are probably lots and lots of worthier causes. But this one helps cute and underappreciated ponies. and could be done as more of a hobby or side thing!)
This month, I'm pleased to announce that we have one new graduate: Spoiled Rich! We also have three new tags for your enjoyment: Shadowbolts, Snap Shutter, and Mane Allgood.
Fillies and gentlecolts, they say that good things come to those who wait. And indeed, this month I've derped my way past the 1st, but I come bearing some of the best possible news that I am able:
Yes friends, Best Pony has at last reached 100 stories. You owe it to yourself to check them out and bask in her stony graciousness and not just because I wrote some percentage of them. It does me old heart good to see others flying the flag of Limestone in these uncertain times!
...Oh yeah, and congratulations also to fellow graduates Sandbar and Midnight Sparkle, who I hear a few of you like.
Also, curiously enough, it would seem that past graduate Spoiled Rich has fallen back down below the 100 story threshold. But fear not, I'm sure she'll be able to gold-dig her way back up before long.
7135187 Wonderful news! And that means we now have the full set of Pie sisters! (I like to imagine that Limestone is trying to figure out how Marble managed to graduate ahead of her despite having had no dialogue...)
Happy March, everypony! This month there's not a lot of news, save for Spoiled Rich clawing her way back up over 100. For a nicer pony, I might give her a second graduation celebration; but for Spoiled, I will give naught but a polite little golf clap.
It honestly feels like an accomplishment. I am an old man, but I can hardly think of a more exhausting single month in my lifetime. Whether it was political upheaval, the looming specter of COVID-19, or the global lockdown that it led us to, this month's 24x7 news cycle was at times more like a 2x4 to the head.
This month we have neither new tags nor graduates, but I think we should collectively give ourselves a pass. I'm glad to be here, I'm glad you're here, and I hope we're all still here for next time.
Eyyy, sit on it! Guess who graduated this month, fillies and mares? That's right, it's ya boy ZEPHYR BREEZE!
Laaaaaaaaaaaadieeeeees!
Oh yes oh yes, the number-one stud in Equestria has finally hit the big time--as we all knew he was destined to do! And don't you worry your pretty little heads about him being taken by that tremendous athlete Rainbow Dash; after all, there's plenty of Zephyr to go around!!!
Maybe it's not the most original sentiment, but it's certainly heartfelt. On a related note, my sincere apologies about running late this month. It's quite a month for the group as well, since we have no fewer than three graduates to report: Pharynx, Daybreaker, and Gabby! Truly the trio we need in these uncertain times.
"You expected it would be a pony, but it was me, EQG-o!"
Happy July, everypony! Welcome to the second half of 2020, also known as the downhill. If you're reading this, you have successfully survived six whole months of this rollercoaster ride, and that is no mean feat. I'm celebrating with a glass of wine; see that you celebrate your way, too.
Regrettably, we have no new graduates this month. But I think at this point it's safe to say that people are playing the long game: survive 2020, and write horse when possible. It's not the flashiest plan, but it'll work in a pinch.
Have I mentioned that it's crazy out there? And yet not so crazy in the TAGC space. There's not much movement this month, save in the overall FimFiction story count. I'm doing what I can to stay safe, and I hope you are as well.
7293409 7294172 I would like to second the commendation of your statkeeping, and also point you to this post I made which uses this month's dataset for some visualizations I've been working on.
Welcome to September! The good news is that I'm on time this time, indicating some level of health and functionality on my end. The bad news is that, once again, we have no new graduates. However, as you can see below, we have three who stand at the cusp of greatness with 99 stories each. So close, yet so far!
We did it, folks! This month, I get to report not just one, nor two, but THREE graduates! WOO!
Ironic that he technically never even appeared in the show!
That's right: at long last, Sour Sweet, Pear Butter, and Grogar have cleared the Hundred Hurdle! Very impressive. I hope we can parlay this into some momentum for the remainder of the year!
DO NOT ADJUST YOUR SET. THIS IS COFFEEMINION SPEAKING. NO ONE HAS BEEN REPLACED. ALL IS WELL.
CONTINUE YOUR HUMAN LIVES AS NORMAL. THERE IS NO INVASION OF REPLICANTS. WE REPEAT: THERE IS NO INVASION OF REPLICANTS. THIS IS COFFEEMINION. IT WAS ALWAYS COFFEEMINION. DO NOT LISTEN TO THE PROPAGANDA. LISTEN TO THE COFFEEMINION. LISTEN TO ALL THE COFFEEMINIONS, EARTHLINGS.
DO NOT ADJUST YOUR SET. ALL IS WELL. ALL WILL SOON BE 100% WELL.
And since I am indubitably CoffeeMinion, my fellow earth creatures, it is only natural that I perform the data calculation duty of this particular site, because that is what CoffeeMinion does. What I do. Because I am him. Please report all suspicious minds to the nearest available not-an-alien-spacecraft government centre located just outside your domicile... for your ease and convenience. Thank you.
Reporting: no new graduates this month, though some insignificant puny earth creature tags are moving up the leaderboard of quantity. They're caught in a trap, but they can walk out. Also, we are not replicants. We are CoffeeMinion.
Also, it is customary to extend welcome to our newest fictional equine tag: Gladmane, the stallion who's never going to run another casino he doesn't believe in. Ahaw-haw.
That jocularity is to remind you we are human, just like you. We are CoffeeMinion. Thank you for not reporting to your earthly authorities.

7383068 Hayseed Turnip Truck and Gladmane do have one fic each: Admiral Biscuit retagged one of his older fics once he realized a Hayseed tag was available, and you wrote the Gladmane fic. Again, Fimfiction's own counts seem to be off here.
Yeah, I've been aware of the tag count discrepancy for a long time. It was obvious pretty much from the moment the automated character tag count page was installed. And it's always bugged me, on its own but especially relative to the TAGC.
Unfortunately, there's no obvious solution besides the long and laborious one (pick each tag individually and count them one-by-one). Frankly, I'm not willing to invest that much time into doing it. A simple copy-paste will have to suffice, so long as people are at least aware the count-lag will have the strongest effect on the tags at the bottom of the list (and be less relevant further up).
Sassaflash and Sea Swirl were added during the September-to-October count here: 7344434. They weren't reported at the time, though.
That happily accounts for the discrepancy, since we started this year with 297 character tags and ended with 307 character tags, but had only accounted for 8 of those new ones. Mystery solved!

Is it just me but are the Raven, Minotaur, and deer tags missing?
7102088
I'm pretty sure the deer tag is on the website. Check my Alice, Aurora, and Bori stories for that.
Fillies and gentlecolts, they say that good things come to those who wait. And indeed, this month I've derped my way past the 1st, but I come bearing some of the best possible news that I am able:
Limestone has graduated!
Make way for Best Pony!

Oh gosh the pain

AWOO HOO HOO HA HA! AWOO HOO HOO HA HA! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Ahem... excuse me, I haven't had my pills yet.
As for the numbers post: No worries! Better late than never, right? And though I don't say it often enough: Thanks for doing such a good job, mate.

No new tags, and no new graduates. One more month to go, and then 2020 will be complete. One last month to get fics out there, people!

Last one for 2020. To the surprise of nobody, Luster Dawn graduates with over 100 stories. We've also gained a whopping 5 new tags:
Fiddlesticks
Goldengrape
Minty
Pistachio
Potion Nova
That's a total yearly gain of 10 new tags (the other five were Hayseed Turnip Truck, Clear Sky, Gladmane... and two others?).
