Usually when a file says that one of the elements have died, the devil usually thinks its just another pony (or other creature) that is trying to get to heaven. So he burns the file and sends the so called element bearer to his place.
This time its different. Very different.

Vinyl Scratch and her brother Long Play were traveling back home from a concert in Canterlot, the first that Vinyl had ever attended. Pure serendipity facilitated these pairs' first meeting.

We all tell ourselves that we will keep a diary. We write the first few entries, and then we get 'too busy' to write in it any more. Then, about a year or so later, we come back to it and wonder why we never picked it up again. It remains locked in our drawer, with lots of empty pages to be filled, until the end of our life, when we pick this up and say 'Oh, I remember this thing. It's too bad I only made a few entries--all the things I could have put in here...' You flip through those few filled out pages, trying to remember the details of your life, and you realize that your diary wasn't there to capture the extraordinary--it was there to remember the ordinary, the little moments that made you smile, laugh, or cry.

Fluttershy wishes that she had kept a diary, immortalizing all those moments that weren't out of the ordinary, but were no less special.

Mother's Day is a day that Rainbow Dash dreads. The reason is that for her oldest friend the holiday is one of loss. She spends the day comforting Fluttershy as she mourns the life that never had a chance to be.

This story ties into my AppleShy Series, and takes place just before the evens in Him Part 1.

The idea for writing a one shot came from a good friend Ragnarokia, and it was a great help.
