Rarity has finally found the courage to confess her love to the mare of her dreams: Princess Twilight Sparkle. But once their relationship takes root, Twilight finds that her heart longs for another pony—her sweet friend Fluttershy. As a princess, she’s committed to making everypony happy and comes up with a solution that she hopes might bring all three mares together, even if everypony else in Equestria disagrees with it.

This is a “What If?” tale based on my earlier story, Beauty, Books, and Butterflies.

The last year certainly hasn't been ideal for me. Losing Applejack followed almost immediately by Sweetie, well... maybe I spent more time in the Boutique and less time with my friends, but then... I don't know why, but I just had to get out of the Boutique. Get out before I did something drastic and incredibly stupid. But once out, where do I go? It's pouring rain, and I'm certainly not about to go back. Not tonight. Twilight's castle is glowing in the distance. Hopefullly, she was being serious when she told me to come to her if I needed anything, even if it's just a place to stay for the night.

Twilight Sparkle's birthday has come around, and Rainbow Dash is unimpressed with Rarity's present. When Applejack pokes a bit of fun with her friend, Rarity becomes unusually upset. Twilight Sparkle investigates her friend's feeling, learning something she never expected about her friend and why she is truly suited to be the element of Generosity.

Fluttershy finds herself in Canterlot, along with Rarity.

Well, not exactly "with" Rarity. The problem is, Rarity doesn't seem to know that Fluttershy is there.

Fluttershy will need a lot of paper, a fair amount of luck, and a little bit of magic to capture Rarity's attention.

Trying to keep something a secret from somepony is hard, especially if that somepony is your marefriend.

Suddenly There Came A Tapping - The Cutie Mark Crusaders are on the run, forced to flee, and about to learn something that hopefully won't earn them cutie marks.

A Meditation Upon the Day's Toils, or, 'Bark' - Who's a good little dog? You're a good dog, Winona! Yes you are!

Slow and Steady - Big Mac notices a whole lot more than he lets on.

Tailoring the Conversation - Oh, what wisdom from the mouths of fillies! Especially the ones who've been peeking in the barn at really inconvenient times.

The Quiet Revelations - Applejack has a nice quiet sit on the front porch to think a few things over. Maybe a little too quiet - or maybe it's just right after all.

Answers Above - Rarity has something to ask; for other ponies this would be a formality, but for her, it will be out of this world.

Winter by the Pond - There's something Applejack hasn't been able to ask, and isn't sure if any living pony can make it easier for her.

Fluttershy is among the first Equestrians to receive the new telephones Princess Twilight Sparkle has just developed. It's a new addition to the shy mare's life, and an exciting one at that. Still, things are not as they had been, and that phone means a lot of space that separated her from her old friends could easily be bridged.

Three years is a long time to keep loving someone, is it not?

This story was inspired by a country song, "Austin" by Blake Shelton. Suggested listening for the curious reader.

Princess Celestia is overseeing the preparations for the blessing ceremony of the castle of friendship. She visits Rarity’s shop from whom she has contracted to design and create the royal gowns that will be worn by the princesses during the ceremony. They chat for a little while. Rarity then excuses herself to locate the appropriate fabric, while Celestia looks through Rarity’s dress drawings. Soon, she finds a little red art book stuffed towards the back of the drawer containing drawings of ponies, some even of her, most are innocent but, a few are more sensual. Celestia is intrigued by this and confronts Rarity about it.

Will this lead to an awful embarrassment for Rarity, or will it be something else entirely?
