Alternate ending to S1E2. Written for the Tenth Bimonthly Twilestia Contest and as JKinsley's (late) birthday present.

Twilight hated when her teacher did it, but couldn't talk to anypony about it. After all, who would believe her if she said that Princess Celestia – always so refined, graceful and regal – could be even worse than Twily's own mother when it came to grooming? Nopony, that's who.

Except... Cadance might actually surprise her on that one.

Set after the main crisis of the "Legend of Everfree".

Waking up quite early in the morning, Applejack didn't think that in the Camp Everfree kitchen, she'd meet... Celestia, who couldn't sleep anymore either. While preparing the eponymous breakfast, the student and the teacher have a chat, which gives Applejack a chance to get to know her principal on a new, more personal level.

The "Alternate Universe" appears due to elements of my headcanon I put in there.

Celestia spends an inordinate amount of time talking to herself. One day, she talks back.

“On the longest day of the thousandth year, the stars will aid in her escape.”

Celestia was prepared to face Nightmare Moon in battle.

What she wasn't prepared for was to face her in a hospital bed.

The past and the future sat in a room. The future stared in awe at the past, the fear of expectation and heritage beginning to gnaw at her. The past only smiled, as the future looked bright.

Uneasy is the heart on which lies a crown of guilt. Luna, formerly known as Nightmare Moon, knows this better than most.

Apologies are in order, for the truth behind the thousand years' exile is at once more mundane and even less likely than the legends suggest. Nearing the threshold of a brighter future, Luna writes a simple letter - and in doing so, attempts to leave the shadows of her past behind.

In the civilized world of monsters, Twilight is a teenage human who never really worries about things outside of school and personal projects. In fact, inside her gated community she's never even met any monsters.

One day when Twilight finds a vampire out on her front lawn, slowly burning alive, Twilight manages to takes them inside, saving their life and giving Twilight her first real friend. However past experiences with friendship has left Twilight nervous in this prospect.

Is friendship really not so scary? Even if your new friends are monsters?

Inspired partially by the Monster High idea and by The Albinocorn's story Sunlight, which I highly recommend!

Warnings- Slight Gore, not enough that would warrant serious warning, but I rated Teen just in case.
