When Twilight Sparkle dragged Starlight Glimmer into one of the alternate timelines the unicorn had inadvertently created, they saw a world not filled with chaos, pollution, or war, but instead completely empty. The entire landscape was nothing but dust and the occasional bit of dead shrubbery.

But was it really so empty?

In this place, one still walks alone, as the last living thing in her world. And as she walks she reminisces on times past, and how her world came to an end.

Based on the King Sombra timeline of "The Cutie Re-Mark".

Rainbow Dash has always been a fighter. When the call to war came, she was the first to head to Wonderbolt Headquarters and sign on. With several mission under her belt, she has risen through the ranks and is now captain of her own squad. But war is hell, and when she is gravely injured, Dash has to rely on two ponies she's never met before. One, wants to help her fly again. The other, wants maybe something more.

Sunburst has been described as the pony that knows everything about magic, yet he is untalented in casting spells. But when a certain tragedy befell upon somepony he knows, can he successfully cast the most important spell in his life by himself?

For Sunburst, risen from obscurity to Court Wizard of the Crystal Empire, life has taken an incomparably good turn. Shining Armor and Cadence have almost become a second family to him, and Princess Flurry Heart like the daughter he never had.

Hoops, by contrast, has lived life on his terms since day one. With flight school behind him, his career in the professional leagues ought to be all but guaranteed—if only the pros would let him in already.

And when Sugarcube Corner burns down, it should not affect either of them.

Yet, when façades start to fracture, their connections to Ponyville's model family will threaten even the most sacred bonds. Before long, Sunburst, Hoops, and the Cakes will all have to decide if the past can be buried again, or if the old, comfortable stories just aren't enough anymore. In only one way, they are all alike: To get what they want, they are all willing to risk shattering every life around them—and maybe even their own.
