Celestia goes to the market and buys some pretzel sticks. She then proceeds to eat them, as one is wont to do with pretzel sticks. Then Super Trampoline comes over to complain about how hard writing is. Then they make out, because me writing bad troll fics is God's way of punishing us all.

Twilight is a princess. She is unassailable, indomitable, and above all, she is Good. This is what other ponies see, and this is the image that Twilight herself strives to live up to. She is kind when and where she can be, she is wise to the extent she is capable. And, by some miracle, the image and the reality line up more often than not.

And then, quite by accident, Twilight happens upon some disturbing news from a long-buried part of her life that destroys all of it.

The previous night, they had all gone to sleep in Ponyville, safe and secure. Now, they awake in a clearing in an unfamiliar forest.

The world has changed. The year is on a completely different calendar. Civilization consists of three small cities divided by a quartet of lakes. The local ponies' customs are achingly familiar and yet completely alien, particularly in the way they keep the races seperate and worship two completely unknown Alicorns called the Wardens. But worse still - this new world is under attack from familiar foes, and Twilight and her friends are the only ones who can defend it.

Yet there's something wrong about this all, something being hidden from them, and Twilight is determined to find out what - no matter what it takes.

After Twilight captures a changeling, Spike finds himself talking to the strange creature...

For those of you that have seen the mid-season 6 promo video, you'll know where I got the cover art. But actually, a lot of this story comes from a very old story that I wrote and never finished. The promo video gave me the idea to change the perspective of that story and shorten it to just Spike... befriending a changeling.

The mountains dream so long they never knew time, but they never dreamed of Pinkie Pie, or what befriending her would cost.
