The ponies thought he was simply sick and was suffering from heat stroke, but what they discover will haunt them for the rest of their lives. This will make ponies realize who they really are...

Gleaming Shield and Anon have been friends for a few years now, ever since the portal opened between worlds and humans have started immigrating to Equestria. Exchange programs and military co-ed training brought them together, and a friendship quickly blossomed between them.

Their relationship has always been more platonic than anything else, but they've also never been too physical with each other either. When Anon brings this up... Gleaming decides to rectify it on the spot.

Originally written for the Quills and Sofa's Oct 11 Panic, where I completely deviated from the prompt in order to write something cozy.

On the day of the Summer Sun Celebration, Nightmare Moon returned from her banishment. The power she had accumulated during her stay on the moon proved to be too great for Princess Celestia, and Equestria's ruler was defeated.

Weeks later, Anon arrived in Equestria via unknown means. Although lost and confused, his natural resistance to magic made him quite useful to Nightmare Moon. To his surprise, he quickly became one of her most trusted servants and found himself falling in love with her. Even more surprisingly, it seemed like she was doing the same.

Eventually, despite Anon's best efforts, Nightmare Moon was defeated and Princess Luna returned. Everyone was rejoicing. Everyone... except him. Because Anon did not fall in love with Princess Luna.

Anon fell in love with Nightmare Moon.

A plague ravaged Equestria, turning all of the unicorns and alicorns into bloodthirsty monsters bent on killing all the other races in a genocidal rage. A small cadre lead by the Elements of Harmony survived and persisted in Ponyville, and even managed to reverse it all at the cost of their lives.

Now Equestria must rebuild.

In Manehattan, Twilight Sparkle and Princess Luna must find a way to ease racial tensions while keeping the teetering nation safe and also rebuilding the lost trust of the little ponies of Equestria. Elsewhere, Cheerilee and Scootaloo must find their way in this new world.

There are only two options left. Rebuild Equestria stronger than ever, or be scattered to the winds of history.
