After the events in the Factory, and the countless years in Canterlot Mental Hospital, Rainbow Dash is finally ready.

It's time to set them free.

Factories are meant to create something useful. Metal factories create tools. Textile factories create clothing. Both of these serve a purpose. Can a rainbow do the same? Can a rainbow be more than just a pretty picture in the sky? Is the cruel way pegasi make rainbows even worth it? Midnight Shade is determined to find out.

Rainbow Dash meets a fan of hers at a Wonderbolts event. Being so awesome and totally able to help, the filly begs her to look for her lost brother; she even knows where he might have gone! But Rainbow feels the local police would be more helpful, sends her away and thinks nothing more of it.

That is, until the filly goes missing as well. Now a conscience-stricken Rainbow must track her down to a desolate peak shrouded in an eternal storm, to the remains of a decrepit factory, and endure the horrors within to save her.

A re-imagining of one of our favorite, classic stories: "Rainbow Factory".

Several days after having a terrible nightmare, Scootaloo takes her final exam at the Cloudsdale Flight Academy, and with the help of Rainbow Dash gains insight into the nature of her own character as well as knowledge of the deepest secrets of the Rainbow Factory.

What happens to those poor pegasai who fail their flight exam? They're taken to a special, secret factory. Their insides are then ground up to create rainbows. Figuratively.

I've been working in this place for as long as I remember, witnessing the demise of countless pegasi as their lives are innocently taken by the Pegasus Device. This has left me to constantly think about the entire aspect of this place. Why does the factory actually exist and have I finally awoken to chaos that surrounds me?

Based on "Awoken" by WoodenToaster and "The Betrayal (Act III)" by Nickelback.

Within his final moments, an inmate of the Rainbow Factory struggles with the reality of his situation. Every single second that ticks before his certain death, the pegasis questions the truth to what is really going on in the facility. Ultimately writing them down in a discovered journal, he talks about those frequent questions and the role he plays in this twisted place.

Everyone knows what horrors lie behind floor two of the Rainbow Factory, but has anyone ever payed attention to the other factories? Rainbows aren't the only thing made in Cloudsdale. Recent occurences in the Thunderstorm Cloud Factory have caused it's bankruptcy, and it's up to one pony to restore the factory to it's former glory. But he has other plans for the new factory, and his ideas aren't any better than the Rainbow Factory's.

I do not intend to copy or steal Aurora Dawn or anyone else's work and have written this as an unique fanfiction to expand upon the Rainbow Factory theme.
That being said, this story is dark, and when I say dark, I mean it. It contains blood, violence, swearing, and potentially disturbing content. I've rated it as teen since it isn't immensely violent or bloody, but it does contain swearing. (If you think that I should rerate it to mature please let me know.)
