Scootaloo gets nightmares about the Rainbow Factory. She does not believe them until things start coming to life..

(Note: The story takes place a few years after Pegasus Device in my own universe of Rainbow Factory where Rainbow Factory Dash stayed evil after Pegasus Device. It takes place specifically during the Factory's peak revival.)

Nightmare Night is the time when Ponies embrace all the spooky and dark things they love! What no regular Pony knows though is that the Rainbow Factory celebrates Nightmare Night as well, in secret.

Hilarity ensues as Doctor Atmosphere urgently needs Rainbow Factory Dash to get new supplies for this year's Nightmare Night, since they ran out of supplies this year. Again. After all, they can't possible end up missing out on Nightmare Night! That's preposterous!!

Scootaloo's doctor's visit doesn't go well, so she's a bit down in the dumps. Maybe a book would help distract her and take her mind off her problems. Wait, not THAT book! Now, she's not sad; she's downright neurotic! The biggest problem is the fact that she's now terrified of the one pony who could help her the most.

The Rainbow Factory in Spheris has it's latest experiment to deal with. But unbeknownst to one of it's scientists, Rainbow Dash, it was someone she knew. Danger must have a escape plan in the works.

There is a bit of comedy in because of what comes out of Danger's mouth.

This story is set before the events of “Rainbow Factory” by Aurora Dawn

Rainbow Dash is pushing Scootaloo to her limits to make sure she’ll pass her flight test, which is now only a week away. Scootaloo can’t help but wonder why she’s being pushed so hard. She knows it’s important, but it’s not like it’s a life or death situation, right?

In the year 2027, Equestria appeared in the Pacific Ocean and established relations with the UN. They claimed they had been brought there by accident, and that Discord was responsible. However, relations quickly began to sour after a failed attempt by five of the six elements of harmony to push their values upon humanity. And, ended altogether when Celestia banned trade between Equestria and the rest of the world. Soon after, started the conversion war. Using her magical barrier she tried to wipe them off the face of the earth. But hope for humanity came in the form of many ponies and others who wished to join them. However, when the night came for them to link up, they found that the resistance had been destroyed before they could leave Equestrian waters. In the aftermath, humanity assumed that all was lost...until a mysterious rainbow-maned pegasus crashed and landed near Jerusalem claiming to be on the human side. However, the agent of the Aman (Israeli Military Intelligence Directorate) assigned to her quickly comes to question her motives.

When Scootaloo learns what the Ancient Pegasi did to their foals that couldn't fly, she's afraid the same fate awaits her. A trip to Cloudsdale with her idol Rainbow Dash teaches Scootaloo what her life is really worth. (A response to Rainbow Factory)

Absentia spent twenty years chained up in the bowels of the cursed Rainbow Factory. For twenty years, she never saw the outside world, left to the mercy of the Factory. But when two foals free her from the clutches of the Pegasus Device, she remembers what it means to fly. As she helps her new friends escape the facility, she has to make a choice.

She chooses to fly.

Rainbow Dash is dead.

Scootaloo saw it herself; an aerial stunt went horribly wrong and her adoptive big sister perished in front of her eyes. She grieved, and her friends - including the late Rainbow's friends - did their best to comfort her. Although, she did notice that Twilight seemed to react to the news... differently from the rest. She seemed to act as if nothing was wrong at all, like Rainbow was even still alive.

Time passes. One day Scootaloo receives a strange book, one that tears open her still-raw wounds and threatens to shatter her mind. Can the Cutie Mark Crusaders solve the mysteries behind the book, and make the pilgrimage to the place where the dead are given new life? Will they discover the truth behind Rainbow's ultimate fate?

More importantly... will they survive long enough to tell the tale?

Nobody knows what went through Scootaloo’s Absentia’s mind for those twenty years she was abandoned in the main theater room. Well, only she truly knows, but perhaps it was always meant to be. Until now, that is. Enter if you dare to discover the dark secrets that have been hidden for so long.
