The helicopters described are from the Vietnam War. The year from Earth is 1968. Just to clarify that this is not an alternate universe of Vietnam.

The Equestrian National Railway transports more than half of the nation's freight and provides an essential service. Journal Box is a nineteen year old mare with many ideas and a love of trains. How will she fare in the Equestrian Railroad industry?

Many Railways in Equestria have been losing bits and customers because of Equestria's Nationalization plan, which would bring all the companies under one roof. One such Railway is looking for ways to keep its identity. And salvation comes not in the form of one, but two humans that have suddenly arrived. And with them, ideas, and concepts for running a railway. But get this, neither of them have ever run a railway in their lives!!! So, a railway is left with two options, one is to just be nationalized, the second is to take these humans in. and see what happens. (Ponies will be Anthro.)

When Queen Fangalla hears stories about a mare named Fluttershy who was a bat pony at one time, she decides to train her to become the princess of the bat ponies.

Rainbow is depressed after she is unable to join the Wonderbolts. Her friends get her a ticket to an air show on Earth to cheer her up. She unexpectedly falls in love with jets, and decides that she wants to be a pilot no matter what it takes. She'll need education, training, and more than a little luck.

William Colley has been a Ranger in the Territoy of Arizona for the better part of a decade.

After three years chasing criminals across the territory, he is closing in on one of his biggest targets yet. Weeks prior, the husband/wife/brother gang had derailed a train to steal the gold a car had been moving east from California. Their heist left behind a ransacked train and 23 slain passengers.

After weeks of hunting, Colley has finally found them.

He awakens besides the rails, in a desert that is almost certainly not his own. Eventually, he'll have to find a way home.

For now, he has to find a new horse.

A royal service can be many things. Weather it be of military origin, or just a lowly farmer growing apples. The rising industrial might of Equestria needed to be shown off. The country's beside needed to know that the ponies were nipping at their heels, and they were closing in fast. Smoke Stack was told to make the most influential run of his entire life... will he and his firepony be able to do it? Will they be able to break 100 miles per hour?

Dismayed by worse than expected results in the skies over Vietnam, the US military began to study the problem.

The Department of the Navy decided that the issue was inadequate training for close-in fighting. A cadre of experienced F-8 Crusader pilots led the charge to reform air combat maneuvering.
