Everyone knows Pinkie Pie and her love of smiles. But why is she so eager to smile? Why is a smile her most valued possession?

For a person to truly value a smile, there has to be an event, a catalyst that makes them value happiness above all else.

For Pinkie Pie, that event was Sunshine; the sick Pegasus.

After Twilight said Cadence was evil, everypony rejected her warnings. Twilight feels sad and betrayed. Sad that especially Spike, Shining Armor and her mentor had avoided her, and betrayed that her friends had told her that they would take what Twilight would tell them seriously after the Lesson Zero events. Twilight just didn't expect Nightmare to come keep her company.

When Rainbow Dash is tasked to help Fluttershy trust others more, she finds herself struggling to help her friend understand the lessons. She finds herself struggling even more, however, when her life depends on Fluttershy coming to terms with them.

Rainy days are no fun for Starlight Glimmer, but maybe Sunburst can help her chase the clouds away.

Princess Luna is tormented and takes a trip to the Royal gardens to ease her pain, but it only worsens when her lover, Twilight Sparkle, catches her in a heinous act.
