The important ponies, lings, or whatevers are important. They get all the food, love, or whatever. They get all the abilities. They are the only ones that are gifted.

Or so they like to think.

Enter me. I'm a disfigured underling, and I'm also perhaps the most gifted individual since Starswirl himself. And even then.

Over the ages, many a wizard has considered the potential for the existence of parallel universes. Often, they've also contemplated what might happen if someone were to cross the line into such a parallel universe- even, how they might do that.

But unlike Twilight, neither of them has a claim to true immortality.

Winner of the 15th Quills and Sofas Speedwriting contest. The prompt was "A Worthy End." The contest was a two-parter, and each chapter was written in an hour, and then expanded slightly afterwards.
