On the day of the Summer Sun Celebration, Nightmare Moon returned from her banishment. The power she had accumulated during her stay on the moon proved to be too great for Princess Celestia, and Equestria's ruler was defeated.

Weeks later, Anon arrived in Equestria via unknown means. Although lost and confused, his natural resistance to magic made him quite useful to Nightmare Moon. To his surprise, he quickly became one of her most trusted servants and found himself falling in love with her. Even more surprisingly, it seemed like she was doing the same.

Eventually, despite Anon's best efforts, Nightmare Moon was defeated and Princess Luna returned. Everyone was rejoicing. Everyone... except him. Because Anon did not fall in love with Princess Luna.

Anon fell in love with Nightmare Moon.

Anon and Applejack started dating some time ago. Due to a multitude of reasons, they attempted to keep their new relationship low-key and private. Now, they're ready to start taking it a bit more seriously, and that means revealing their feelings for each other to the rest of the Apple family.

However, Applejack has been reluctant to do so, and it's time Anon found out why. According to Apple family tradition, if Anon is to be accepted by the Apples, he must first pass the Apple Screening.

The prospect of meeting an alien has always fascinated Rainbow Dash. With countless worlds out there beyond the stars, who is to say that extraterrestrial life doesn't exist? What would they be like? Would they be just like her, but with a gross third eye? Would they be sturdy enough to beat her in a fight, or quick enough to beat her in a race? However, not even she is immune to having a Bad Day™, and when a day like that hits, it hits hard. But if she's the pony that's supposed to help ponies smile, who is going to help her smile?

This is based on a dream I had not too long ago. It's based in a universe where humans and ponies have coexisted since time immemorial. The characters, including Dinky, are in their late teens to early twenties.
