Frost Windchill isn't the only one in the Wasteland with a story to tell. With many years under his belt, the storyteller has met many others during his travels. Some were heroes. Some weren't. The Wasteland, after all, isn't kind to heroes.

Off the Record is a compilation of side-stories that take place in the universe established by The Last Sentinel, ranging from post-apocalyptia all the way to before the Lunar Exile. There is a legend in Equestria and beyond, about a great treasure hoard left behind by the last of the Dragon Lords Ember. Many have searched for it, but none have found it, either coming back with horrifying tales, or not coming back at all.

8 years after the war with the Enclave, 4 friends come across a map leading them to the first clue to the Great Hoard. Fueled by curiosity and the story of the Hoard's wealth, they set out to try and find it.

But will they succeed? Or will they meet the same fate as so many that came before them?

Set 100 years after the war with the zebras violently ended, this is the story of an unlucky trader who suddenly finds himself dead and his afterlife somehow tied to two strange ponies. He now has to try and figure out daunting questions such as:
Who are these ponies?
Why is he stuck following them?
How did this happened?
Where are his hooves!?

A Pegasus pony wakes to find himself in a stable testing room with few memories and only a letter from his sister to remind him of his past, and some un-natural abilities. As he makes new friends and reunites with old friends the true nature of the Forgotten Wasteland gets revealed, as well as signs of other survivors of The Vault's Experiment. Starting with almost less magic than a baby unicorn Silver Aura can only barely use telekinesis and must learn how to use the abilities granted to him by The Vault.

THIS STORY IS ALIVE (April 2024): It has been a LONG time. But for some reason or another, I decided to come back to this. This story has received a soft reboot. All of the existing chapters have been remade and new ones posted. If you are a returning reader, please start over from the beginning. I'll keep working on this story to my hearts content, but time is a fickle thing. It's been almost a decade since I began this, life is different. This is just a slow hobby of mine. Thanks y'all!

This is a revision of Fallout Equestria: Tales of Transylvania. From now on, this will be the main story being updated.

Stories are passed down generation after generation. Over time the tales become mixed and confused, sometimes forgotten. History gets intertwined with legend and turned into simple mare's-tales spoken to young ones at night. Details may be forgotten - however, the weight of which they warn is not.

Stable 17 was built in secret within the region of Transylvania in northwestern Equestria, safely situated between the base of Smokey Mountain and Vanhoover. The one and only Stable of its kind, it was built to protect the native thestral ponies who resided in the area in the event of a catastrophic war. These ponies -- commonly known as "bat ponies" by the other races of Equestria -- sported fangs and leathery wings. They were secluded and otherwise shunned by their neighboring ponies, but under the reign of Princess Luna, a brief chance was given to preserve their future.

Transylvania, with its economy driven mainly by farming, saw little to no action in the war and was blissfully spared by the balefire that consumed Equestria. Though no bomb fell in the region, the destructive magical radiation from the bombings still seeped across the mountains. The thestrals of Transylvania holed themselves within their protective ring of mountains, never daring to explore the wastes that lay beyond.

Midnight Wind, at least that's what they call me. I grew up within the confines of Stable 17 where I was certain I would live peacefully and die peacefully, all alone as an outcast among my people. See, I was born among my thestral kind but for some reason or another, I popped out of the womb as half a pegasus. Maybe it was genetics, maybe it was destiny, all it did was make my life miserable.

Things got worse when the Overmare learned that I was elected to take her position, she wasn't too happy. I was forced out of the stable, finding myself stuck out in the open world of the Transylvanian wasteland. I had no supplies, no friends, and no knowledge of the new world before me. With a grievous wound received upon my escape, my life was sure to end quickly.

Well, my life would have ended if it wasn't for another pony who was kicked out with me; none other than Scarlet Rose, the Overmare's own sister. A mare who seemed to blame all of her woes on me.

Things would only continue to spiral for me as I became plagued with visions and dreams of another era. Stories of alicorns, wars, and the fate of thestrals on the brink of disaster.

Night by night, secrets tucked away within the forested overgrowth of Transylvania's lands began to become ever present. Every step that Scarlet and I took seemed to whisper the tales of legends. Scarlet and I not only had to overcome our own differences, but together we would soon be tasked to protect the sovereignty of Transylvania. Maybe even the very existence of our dying thestral race.

Meanwhile, a born wastelander named Roulette, still rocked by the havoc of the events of Operation Cauterize, must come to terms with the bitter realities of what happened that day. She remembers the days before the Sun and contemplates her life in a changing wasteland. For a mare who lost everything, she can only hope to make something of herself in this ‘new’ wasteland and be like the hero she admired in her foalhood.

Her travels take her to the Outpost 52 on the border of now civilized New Canterlot territory for a bitter reunion with an old friend, but when her foalhood hero's name comes calling again, it brings up painful memories and questions from her wasteland days. What's a wasteland mare to do? 

Sometimes you have to take a gamble...

Equestria's fate changed forever on The Last Day, when magical fire rained down across the land. Many perished when magical fires scorched the land and sapped the life from the surface of Equestria. In that destruction everything changed for in the lives of those ponies who survived but also for those ponies who weren't lucky enough to find shelter in the Stables. Lightning Dust was one such pony who met her fate when Equestria died. Her story was one of many that was long forgotten by those who did not remember her. But it is often said that Death is the final thing that separates ponies from the world of the living. Once you cross that threshold there is no coming back. But the magic of Equestria runs deep and even the Apocalypse is no match for it. So the veil of Death has been pulled back and a long forgotten pony shares her story.
