In light of various performance issues with the site, I've been looking at the sort of thing that's been causing it and by looking through slow queries I've discovered that the vast majority of the issues are caused by maybe 10 users, all of which is role playing.
Consequently, I am banning role playing from the site in all locations. User pages, blog posts, groups, consider it banned everywhere now. It does not contribute to the site in any way other that destroying the servers. To give you an idea just how ridiculous this has gotten, this is something I found on my hunt.

Roleplaying groups have a day before we start moving around to delete these groups. If you want to roleplay, please take it to your own chat instead.

edit: I'm not going to delete the groups anymore, just clean up problematic threads.
Staff note: Not deleting the groups does not mean that RP groups are acceptable. Previous groups were allowed to remain for archival purposes, but for all intents and purposes, roleplaying is not allowed on Fimfiction. Please try to conduct any attempts at RP on sites that are better suited for handling it.

Meh. There are WAY better sites to RP on than FIMfic. The user interface is meant for comments and brief conversation, not full-on roleplay. I can't understand how they put up with it. Though, I've yet to find a decently populated pony-only RP site that I like. Anyone have any suggestions?

Well... that's a shame, but entirely understandable. I support forum roleplaying, had a lot of fun with it in the past, but this... well, it isn't a forum. So, no complaints-- they can make a forum if they really want to RP. It's not terribly difficult to set one up these days, and I think it can be done for free oftentimes.

As far as the roleplay thing itself goes....I honestly didn't even know there were any roleplay groups here. But I somehow have a very difficult time believing a mere ten users caused this. Though in any case, it doesn't have any direct impact on me, so I guess I really have little to nothing to complain about. *shrug* I do feel bad for these guys though.

This is why most RP groups on the site usually use chatrooms off-site. Or a forum made for the purpose. Or just use the group forums as a kind of meeting grounds to arrange games and stuff.

I happen to know people who do have mental disabilities and would prefer NOT to have to see that word on my screen in reference to people just because you don't like them, regardless of how you feel about whether or not the term fits.
