Ponies have been completely clueless about changelings ever since the fateful day many years before…

Heh, I like the -ling suffix, and I like the idea of a fic that's supposed to be just a book from within the setting.
My main criticism is that some of it reads more like a transcript of a lecture than something Mellow originally put down in writing, especially the way he loses his train of thought at the end.
1874527 I was kinda trying to put "Mellow" into a more carefree style.
I also thought, "What if he/she talks while writing? What if his/her magic writes down what he/she speaks?"
Is it a problem? Will it become a problem?
I will explain how the names work in a later chapter (hopefully the third), but the name Mellow is supposed to have significance as to how they act or appear.
And the -ling idea actually comes from Niaeruzu's stories.
