Admiral Biscuit

Virtually invisible to PaulAsaran

Some ponies like chocolate or flowers or a trip to the spa, or maybe just staying at home and chilling with their special somepony.

KitKat isn't one of those ponies. Her idea of a perfect Hearts and Hooves Day is . . . different.

There might not be story notes, but I'll give you a link to the full version of that cover art. It was the cover of a Dragon magazine years and years ago (1987!), and it's honestly one of my favorite fantasy arts ever.

The source I used is in the coverart (just mouse over), but that's not the original artist: the original is Daniel R Horne. Best I can tell, this is his Twitter page and this is his artist's Facebook page. If you want to follow him

Doesn't really fit, but it's the least inappropriate folder.

Gotta love work ponies who are good at their jobs!

And, in the opinion of a guy who used to have a DO IT IN CHAINMAILE bumpersticker, perfectly appropriate for the day!

I believe that I know what your problem is:

What caused it:

And how to seal the rupture in spacetime:

Portals like this are usually from idiots on both linked worlds messing around with magic they do not understand and their spells linking and forming unstable portals. One will certainly not find the guilty party on the other world, with the linking portal sealed, and almost certainly not find the idiot in this world either. ⸘When will sapient beings learn that magic is dangerously and stop doing stupid dangerous spells‽

Every KitKat story just needs the KitKat tag; Violence is implied.

This story follows a predictable pattern to those who frequent fimfiction: Admiral Biscuit writes a story, and the story ends up being really fun to read.

This might be the only one where I've actually used the violence tag.

She's a pony who loves the opportunity to really get hooves-on with her work. Or let her taberzin do the work, as the situation dictates.

Right? She's got a talent, and loves getting to use it.

And, in the opinion of a guy who used to have a DO IT IN CHAINMAILE bumpersticker, perfectly appropriate for the day!

I genuinely debated between writing something cute and fluffy or doing the opposite, and I think I made the right choice.

Maybe it was just one of those random portals that spawns 'cause it can. Or maybe it was caused by something with little agency, perhaps a chatter of squirrels accidentally traced a portal with their tails, who can say?

⸘When will sapient beings learn that magic is dangerously and stop doing stupid dangerous spells‽

Literally never.

I do what I can.

You're making me work for the reply; this computer doesn't have sound :derpytongue2:

In the previous story where Buttercup dealt with a portal, he just crumpled it up and tossed it back into itself, which is of course the best solution. Although perhaps if he could create a static warp shell, he could have used that. Hopefully his bespelled glass bottle will serve the purpose.

Definitely the right choice! Them not being the fluffy types, but meshing so well (and so obviously) together is romantic!

> "Maybe it was just one of those random portals that spawns 'cause it can."

A random portal probably would open in an intergalactic void.

(And then there was the Wizard, but she tried not to remember those times.)

I understood that reference.

A lovely, if unconventional form of romance. Likewise portal disposal. Thank you for a most enjoyable read.

The couple who plays together, stays together. For a certain definition of 'play'

I'm pretty sure KitKat murdered you, how are you still writing? :P

11826231
It's not a romance (yet), but it could be. You're right, there's nothing better than a couple with similar interests.

11826318
That's true, but those are the ones that just vomit out nothing except maybe a sudden chill as you walk by, and those aren't really the kind of portals a pony would worry about.

I understood that reference.

I should probably apologize for that.

A lovely, if unconventional form of romance.

It's the best kind, two ponies with similar interests and an almost fanatical devotion to the pope each other.

You're welcome!

Totally agree! Find a partner who shares your interests, that's the key.

It's true, it's all true.

I got better.
