Becoming an alicorn, Twilight Sparkle had much to learn. Her unicorn magic increased, but she had a lots of experience controlling it, and while flying proved harder then expected she had no doubt she'll master it sooner or later. And that's on top of her learning more about her role as a Princess. She has no time for interruptions.
However, when stressed Twilight is faced with her newfound strength, Applejack is there to help with an unexpected problem; being physically stronger then any unicorn.

And yeah, we see Twilight dealing with her new wings a little in the show, there are numerous stories where her being alicorn is much more complicated etc, but I noticed lack of Twilight learning that she now has earth pony powers, as well. And so this short story was born.

Didn't Twilight already know about the earth ponies' magical strength AND their ability to grow plants? There were plenty of examples from AJ before her ascension.

Absolutely. Alicorns have a lot of different powers, and Twilight learning about them is definitely fascinating. I just had to write this story after I noticed that her earth pony part is slightly neglected in fanfiction, and I found it interesting.

Yeah, the show never really got into the earth pony magics, which left the fans to fill in the details. As a result, every author who writes about earth ponies has a different vision of what they can do; like the story comment below you recommended, or Triptych.

Put that that, it is kinda suprising. I guess it's because it's rarely relevant to most stories' plot or the writer just doesn't think of it. I remember touching on how alicorn Twilight is physically very strong thanks to her earth pony traits at least a couple of times in my stories (such as one time when Rainbow tried to hold her down but Twilight got free thanks to being outright physically stronger, and she had to be held down physically by the whole mane 6) but other than those rare time it's actually relevant to the story, Twi's earth pony side tend to be on the sidelines,

The show has had quite a few examples of Earth ponies with super strength. Maud Pie for example can reduce a boulder to dust, we saw a filly unturn playground equipment, and Big Mac moved a entire cottage. This doesn't seem to be the average strength level but Twilight's an Alicorn, meaning she's over peak power for every race in one package. It's no wonder the ponies don't really question them, as herd animals they follow the biggest and/or strongest member of the herd, and in everyway each tribe measures strength the Princesses are top tier.

That was a good story.
It upsets me that the show doesn't pay attention to the magic of earth ponies, compared to pegasus and even more so unicorns. As an exception, we saw only the plant from "Hearth's Warming Eve" and random feats of strength. So it's not even surprising that in many stories or drawings, earth ponies are presented as "ordinary", "magicless" or even "boring".
Amazing! I really think that ponies like Twilight, Rainbow Dash and, for example, Maud Pie are unique and it's wrong to spread their abilities to other ponies. For the average unicorn, the levitation of a pot of soup is the limit, just as the average earth pony will not be absurdly strong, the same works for pegasi.

We are in agreement here. I always thought of Twilight's magic feats as being really special. Which is why Applejack made this comment about Earth Ponies.
Also a tiny bit of ignorance and prejudice on Twilight's part, jumping from 'Earth ponies have no special powers, really' to 'Earth ponies are dangerous if they can all do it!'. We see a bit more of that in the sequel, as well.
