The Grey Pegasus

Pony stuff author since 2012. Writes supposedly good stuff. Still haven't made a break. Still persistent. Probably highly unlucky. Or hated by the universe. Either determined or insane. Or both.

Something random I wanted to write. Practice out some descriptive writing. Also to get me back into the swing of writing in general.

And screw logic/physics on this. So don't bug me much on that.

For some reason, I decided to make a quick custom cover. Thanks to the deviantArt MLP Vector Club for the Rainbow Dash vector. Don't remember who the specific artist was though.

Fun fact: At around 2,500 feet above Trenton, possibly even somewhat lower, it is possible to see the skylines of New York City and Philadelphia. It truly is impressive.

This was very well written! Well done!

Observing altimeter and praying it'll stop decreasing and start increasing. Pretty scary thing.

Good story, very fine description of Equestria from such high skies. And dialogue in the end is cherry on top!

Looks to be very interesting and I'll be sure to give it a read :rainbowkiss:

That was very fun to read and the atmosphere was very well made, bravo. :pinkiehappy:

36 hours waiting in Submissions! Geez! Now I can breathe easy! Glad you all like it!

If I didn't know better -- and who says I do? -- I'd swear you'd had some documents smuggled out of a Weather Patrol office, just to get those atmospheric descriptions right.

As Sheer Joy of Flying stories go, this is one of the best I've seen. :rainbowdetermined2:

:pinkiehappy: I rather enjoyed reading this!!

I hate altimeters...
They always make me land-crash somewhere! :flutterrage:

Gah, I got excited when I saw the title. Thought it was a parody of that Twilight Zone episode...

Still, nice story!

Anyone that reads, please comment and all that jazz. Would make my day more interesting, as feedback and thoughts are interesting to read.

Hm. Well, personally, great one-shot, made me feel the altitude dropping as well as the increasing danger of going "Splat!" It could use some polish in some places; other than that, I do believe that you have

denver.mylittlefacewhen.com/media/f/img/mlfw2982-xYAkr.png !

Nicely done.

*Sigh*... I have heard "nailed it" WAY too many times today! :rainbowlaugh: Thanks for the comment!

1327274 You're welcome. (Dang that was a fast reply!)

Now that I think about it (on your first post for this story), Rainbow really-probably-couldn't have pulled off a second rainboom right after leveling off. Then again, since the Rule Of Cool is being invoked with all of fiction, I think it's safe to say that real-world physics has been kicked out of office.
Then again, I could be wrong. *shrugs* I'm not an astrophysicist. I know perhaps as much as the next dude.

Wonderful descriptions! Have a fav.

Pretty good stuff!

Dat last line :rainbowlaugh:

Beautiful. Descriptions are all but flawless. Made me :pinkiehappy:

You're welcome!

I bet you're thumbs up #40. I thank you for that. Personal accomplisment, on the story I tried the least on!

1332383
Actually, I was 39...
I guess someone else likes it too! :pinkiehappy:

I seriously loved this story. Well done.

1350941
...When did you read this?

1350945
Just now. Took me about a minute and a half.

Finally got around to reading this bud, sorry for being late to the party. YouTube's a hell of a place. :pinkiecrazy: Nevertheless, great job and I bet if one of those famous authors like TAW or Aegis Shield had published this it would be numero uno on the feature box for a day straight. Damn fame levels. :twilightangry2: Regardless, great job. :ajsmug:

Eh. Don't mention them. They aren't the best examples. Their stories are basically auto-boxed because of their extremely large follower base.

Anyways, I'm happy just to write a story again!

1361569 Yeah, I know. They could throw up a trollfic if they wanted to and it would hit the damn box. It's so annoying. :flutterrage: Also, they're so high up on their high horses they could very well rival Dash in this story. Seriously, they would need a ladder just to come back to earth.

1361579
Yeah, I know. I've heard the same complaints from a different author (that is in my 'following' list).

when she reached >1000, I was ready to read " She couldn't pull up in time." and proceed to flail my arms about in a rage screaming "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!" at1:06 in the morning. :scootangel:

PPS

You keep saying pegasus. 5 times in a row are way too many. It's extremely distracting.

To be fair, I wrote this on a whim. I was literally waiting for an hour outside the Cheesecake Factory and wrote this. Perfection was not part of my aim.

I have one word to describe this story.

Sublime.

Pretty good way to describe it.

I have a question that I don't know if you'll be able to answer- do you have any idea why this story seems to be so popular today?

2866713
xTSGx listed your fic in their daily reading update. And I am quite glad, this little story deserves more attention.

This is the best story I have ever read.

That was so well written. You get a fav and like.:pinkiehappy:

Very nice! I was kinda worried that Rainbow would meet a bloody death once she got to 1,000 feet.

Bravo!

4075779
Bloody death only happens at 0, silly you.

4083942 Not unless you catch on fire :derpytongue2:

4086102
Then it's burny death not bloody death

4087491
No! bloody death and burny death are mutually exclusive.

Is it bad that my first thought when I read the "second rainboom" bit was, "this is going to cause some significant damages."?

Very nice read sir.

It wasn't a bad read, though writing numbers out numerically is a kind of frowned upon in writing stories. Also treat exact numbered units with caution. Here they seem to be okay, but they will tear your reader from the story. It's kind of a sloppy writers way of writing scenes.

Numerically seemed fine for this use.

Plus, this was my seventh story.

Somehow, it's doing as good as, if not slightly better than, a new story that it's linked in.
