The relationship that never was.

Princess Cadence and Shinning Armor need to find someone to watch Princess Flurry Heart at the last minute. Unfortunately, seeing that no pony is available, she turns to Megan Williams to help watch her. What kind of trouble could Flurry Heart give Megan while watching her? This is a crossover between G1 and G4.

This story was cute. I was expecting a lot more mayhem with Megan trying to wrangle an infant demigod.

At least Megan has ways to keep Flurry Heart in check. And, I thought Pinkie Pie has a hard time.

Hmmm, no horn blasts, looks like Sunburst's added spell (Parent's Forbadence?) might still be in force ...

"First of all, TJ is just a regular pony, so you can't really compare to him to any ponies here in Equestria.

TJ can be kind of impish, but yeah, he is just a regular pony.

I'm curious about something too. The title of the chapter is the same as an 80's teen movie. So I'm wondering if you've at least heard of it.

Posy with her sweet demeanor would have been one of the main caretakers for the foals, with Megan being another when she was present. And, I'm thinking Ribbon being a third.

Alicorns aren't gods or demi-gods, they are godlike, which can be just as much trouble.

Honestly, I think a longer story would have served better due to the kind of rushed pacing this one has.

11138204
God-like means like unto a god, demigod means the half-divine(or less, looking at you Epic of Gilgamesh) child of a god.

11138223
Yeah, I'm aware of that.

that was good

Good story for how short it is, though for some reason I read the title as Megumin instead of Megan and now I can't get that image out of my head.

11137852
There really isn't anything that says that alicorns are gods or demigods and having all three traits doesn't make them either, so my guess is that it's certain bronies that came up with that claim, though that doesn't mean that they aren't powerful.

11137913
Last time I checked, Pinkie Pie never babysat Flurry Heart, Twilight Sparkle did in some episodes and didn't have a good time doing it.

11137937
It could also be that Flurry Heart got a little more mature, though she did try to fly away from Megan when she was trying to give her bath, but she was fortunate enough to keep her distracted with the Rainbow of Light that is in her locket.

I have heard of that movie, and I'm know what it's about. The point of that was to show Flurry Heart giving Megan some trouble while watching her. Some of this I got from the episodes where Twilight had to watch her as well as some videos, I found on Youtube with one with Luna doing and the other with Celestia. However, those aren't actual episodes, but rather done with toys, and that can be found on the channel known as mlpstopmotion. Nonetheless, this was meant to be a single chapter, because there's not much to say about babysitting. As for TJ, this is the second time I've mentioned him as he was in my first fanfic as well when Twilight thought that she could talk to him, but was then told by Megan that it wouldn't work being that it's just a regular pony and even said that it was best not to cast a spell on him to make him actually talk in the fear that it could become permanent and raise suspicions from others if that were to happen.

11138757
When you consider that 2 of them move celestial objects, one governs over love in its myriad forms and can exert a form of emotional control, one governs over platonic love and magic, and one is the very spawn of evil in a cutesy form, it's not hard to construe them as demigods.

Think about trying to babysit Flurry Heart. You have this being who has NIGH INFINITE POWER!!!!!!!1!!! in a teeny, tiny toddler body. Be afraid, be very afraid.

11138762
I figured you were probably aware of it. That said, the title could have been a coincidence.

And I think a somewhat longer story would have given you more chances at comedy. That said, Megan has been through a lot of interesting situations. She have been able to handle it regardless.

The only reason the Royal Sisters have power over the sun and moon is because it's their destiny to be in charge of them and the same probably goes for Twilight and Cadence as well for whatever their destinies are. That has absolutely nothing to do with them being gods or demigods. When I think of alicorns, I mostly relate them to being an avatar, because just like how the avatar is the master of all four elements, the alicorns are known for having all three traits of the ponies. Speaking of being the avatar, they aren't immortal, so when they die, they just get passed on to whoever is supposed to have the powers after them, but even whoever is known to be the avatar from birth isn't even born with all elements as they have to learn them all by themselves. My guess is that saying that they are godlike is probably a claim done by certain bronies such as yourself. BTW, I'm one of those who believes that the Royal Sisters weren't born as alicorns as even The Jornal of the Two Sisters is pretty vague on their history that can be interpreted either way not to mention doesn't talk about what they did before becoming the rulers of Equestria, plus it was later on claimed to no longer be cannon in the episode Shadow Play when a different story was brought up for how the Tree of Harmony was founded. To my knowledge, Flurry Heart is most likely the only natural born alicorn while the others had to earn that status, because a statement said on her birth tended to imply that alicorns aren't natural for the most part.

11139737
That title has been used in episodes of TV shows as a reference to that as well as even in the 2016 remake of that very movie.

11139867
When I first read avatar, I initially thought you were referencing part of the Hindu traditions, then I realized you were talking about the show. I love the series and what little I've seen on The Legend of Korra. I believe that originally the two sisters were supposed to be alacorns(sometimes called winged unicorns, pegacorns or unisus) but a young fan wrote in with the name alicorn, which meant all-in-one-icorn, that could entirely be made up and it was Lauren Faust, M A Larsen or someone else on the creative staff who came up with the name.

The reason why I like the headcanon that the alicorns are immortal demigods is that it adds a tragic quality to them without going full Greek or Shakespearean.

Just like you, I get very passionate about my headcanons and personal fan theories and will passionately argue my point. Then I have to stop and laugh at the absurdity of it, because basically we are getting into slap fights over what is essentially long commercials whose primary intent is to sell plastic toys to prepubescent girls. In short, I try to avoid invalidating or belittling someone else's headcanon while passionately arguing mine, and sometimes making myself stop to laugh at my own absurdity. I think that if we all occasionally stopped and made ourselves laugh at our own absurdity, the world would still be its usual shitty place, but we would be just a little less crazy.

11139868
I didn't know about those that, but I'm not surprised either.

11140009

in with the name alicorn,

Okay, I went and looked this term up some number of years ago and what I found is the word alicorn was originally use to refer to a unicorn's essence. Which is often their horn.

What I found back then is that it was first used in some fantasy novel or other to refer to a winged unicorn sometime last century.

I don't recall if the novel or novels were mentioned along with the writer or not.

The reason why I like the headcanon that the alicorns are immortal demigods is that it adds a tragic quality to them without going full Greek or Shakespearean.

Not going to lie, this sounds like an interesting central plot idea for a story.

and sometimes making myself stop to laugh at my own absurdity. I think that if we all occasionally stopped and made ourselves laugh at our own absurdity, the world would still be its usual shitty place, but we would be just a little less crazy.

I agree with this myself.

We need to stop and laugh at ourselves once and a while.

And by the way, I credit you for brining up Gilgamesh as an example of a demi-god. Most minds go to Heracles or even Kratos from the God of War games for this idea. Hell, even I first thought of Heracles when you brought up demi-gods.

I love the Epic of Gilgamesh, it's the world's first known bromance.

Most people think of Heracles, but most don't think of Theseus or Achilles.

Yeah.

Admittedly, I only know that story in passing.

Same here, and I know about all three.

11140441

Admittedly, I only know that story in passing.

I used to have it downloaded on my old phone. I had found an Oxford openware free version that was a scan from a 1993(I think) that was an English interpretation from Mesopotamian, Sumerian and Babylonian tablets, with annotations from about a dozen different professors who had studied the old texts from about 1937-ish to 1988-ish. It was fascinating to learn about which parts of the stories changed over the centuries between the 3 cultures and even how our understanding of their written languages affected our understanding of the story.

11140463
It can be interesting, and a little confusing to see how these stories change over time.

11140009
When I was referring to the avatar, I meant on the Nickelodeon series as both The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra. The reason I used that analogy is because that is what comes to mind when I think about alicorns. Whether or not alicorns are godlike or immortal is pretty debatable. Seeing that most MLP characters don't get backstories, we'll never if that's true or not, which is why it's one of those that are left to the fans to determine. I will admit that I'm under the impression that Luna's dark side known as Nightmare Moon was a secret even though that was never brought up in the series itself, which got me to doing the fanfic, Luna Comes Clean. Also, I'm one of those who believes that neither Luna nor Celestia were born as alicorns or even into royalty in that matter in my other fanfic known as Royal Origins, which makes Flurry Heart the only known natural born alicorn. In all honesty, I never got why Hasbro never bothered to give a lot a good number of MLP characters through any generation any backstories, because those would have given the viewers a better idea about who they are and what their background really is rather than have to come up with certain head cannons and other theories.

11140896
Hasbro has that tendency with all of their shows that are intended to sell toys. MLP:FIM has the most backstory of main characters, supporting characters and background characters of any of their IPs, something I fell Lauren Faust and M A Larsen had a very big hand in. I feel that their corporate officer say something in the tune of, "They're kids, we don't need to create extensive backstories for even our main characters" and scoff at the adult fans that either unironically enjoy their shows or are wanting the joy of exploring a new generation of a cartoon that brought them joy when they were kids with their children or both.

We can thank God-emperor Goldner for characters not being fleshed out more. Yes, he's amazing at marketing an IP and under his direction, Hasbro has experienced a renaissance, but he's their Michael Eisner.

11141087
Sometimes I wish that there really were backstories, because I feel at times the show has a lot of plot holes in some areas not to mention having them go unexplained.

Despite submitting this to Equestria Daily for Shinning Armor and Cadence Day, this fanfic didn't make the cut, which once again makes me feel snubbed. :fluttershysad:

So this is the Megan Williams?
She is interesting
Ill see

11559574
First of all, she's not an OC, she's a character from G1, and if she was to actually appear in G4, this would probably pass for an episode of it.

11561376
Even if she was to appear in G4 and have this as an episode, it would most likely be a rebooted character and not the one we know from G1.
