2023 Spark City Grand Prix

Danger was calculating his options before he set out a lap on the streets of Spark City. The circuit itself being 3.88 miles in length and a sub two minute time could be achieved if the track was mastered. Danger also factored in Oscura who was still in hospital due her crash and that she would cheer her team on even if Rayfa was their lead driver. Danger took his SF-DGR23 out and was on a mission to grab pole position.

Despite Rayfa qualifying in 13^th, Danger knew she wanted to make Oscura proud and that she is a future star in the making. The race started and Danger retained his lead with Viral and Aria in hot pursuit. In the span of 9 corners, Rayfa had got up from 13^th place to 7^th place, performing moves that even Danger could take notes on.

Meanwhile on lap 2, Danger was still comfortably from his teammate Aria as his future teammate, Viral in third. As the corners were testing the grip of the Pirelli tyres and all drivers knew how to take the corners with ease. The Spark City Grand Prix circuit also featured a highway section which was inspired by the Solus Highway Circuit so the 24 drivers can go flat out on the straights and they noticed the chicane at turns 8 and 9 could catch drivers out if they aren’t careful.

On the 6^th lap, the chicane claimed it’s first victim as the Porsche of Vivian Radiance got a bit to ambitious and spun out on the exit of turn 9. Vivian got going again and the race continued with green flag conditions.

For about a few more laps.

On lap 9, the Sonic GP car of Manic Speed slammed into the wall at turn 23 with brought out the Safety Car. Manic was oblivious to this as he felt the tyres were the source of his crash. The Sonic GP mechanics would tell what happened when his SGP002 went to the garage.

When the twelfth lap came around it was Danger leading from Aria and Viral with Starlight and Rusalka. Iris was 6^th, Adriana was 7^th, Danny was 8^th, Kaci Lionlight was 9^th and Rainbow Dash was 10^th.

By lap 16, most of the top 5 came to pit for new softs, mediums or hards. Because the field was slightly bunched up it made Iris Dayspark the leader from Adriana Novalight and Danny Dean in P3, Kaci Lionlight was holding off Rainbow Dash for as long as she could but she knew there was a problem, Sonic Flash had moved up into P6 after overtaking Astral Dash on the lap prior. This shocked Kaci a bit in that her best friend Adriana was in 2^nd place and still in the title hunt. Sparkling Lionfire was in P9 and being hounded on all sides by the Porsche of Beatrice Radiance. The Porsche 809 wasn’t as competitive has Kaci’s DGR-MCL37 but Sparky knew the Beatrice hadn’t lost much of her shine, despite being with Formula Equestria since 2007.

Meanwhile, Danger was in P13 and he was not liking the decision he made on lap 16 to pit for hards.

“Crim, why did I have to play roulette with the lap number in order to pit? I swear I’m gonna need to bet on black and do an Oscura Galaxia at this rate!” Danger asked on the radio.

“I thought you never lost in casinos, Danger.” Crimsonia then said.

“Only when Dashie and I are in the same casino.” Danger replied. “I feel like I’m racing when the gods played a royal flush on me… and all I had was three aces… excluding the ace of spades.”

Danger was in need of a Safety Car, so was Viral, who was in 11^th place and on lap 19, it came out as Sunset Shimmer decided to litter the straight between turns 21 and 22 with a crash.

This caused everyone to do a free pit stop and chaos ensued as some teams were double or triple stacking. When the chaos subsided, Adriana Novalight was leading from Danny Dean, Danger Dean, Sonic Flash, Starlight Glimmer and Viral Velocity. Aria was in 7^th with Rusalka in 8^th, Sparkling Lionfire in 9^th and Monika Dawnlight in 10^th.

On lap 23, the Forza Nova of Danny Dean was trying to overtake the McLaren but the SFN02 was still not up to pace with the DGR-MCL37 and with Danger right behind. Danny let Danger by because he believed his father had a better chance for the title than he had. On lap 26, Danger passed Adriana for the lead and after Viral passed Starlight Glimmer for 5^th at turn 25.

With 20 points now separating Danger from Viral, the British Speedfreak needed to hold station for as long his SF23-DGR can manage. By lap 28, he was starting to realise that Ferrari reliability is Ferrari reliability as when he was approaching turn 19, his car developed a misfire. When he pitted on lap 30, his pit crew used actual magic to fix his Ferrari. When he came out of the pits, Adriana inherited the lead with Danny overtaking him later. But Danger knew that Adriana had not made a pit stop yet so he was waiting for the moment to come when she pitted

Viral was still circulating in P4 and was going to make a pass on Danger. She thought that Danger was on the wrong tyres and decided to turn the fact of being behind Danger into a net positive. On lap 33 at turn 19, Viral overtook Danger and was now in 3^rd place. After Adriana pitted on lap 34, Danny Dean was now in the lead but he was overdue a pitstop, so with 10 laps to go, Danny pitted and as Viral and Danger were 5 seconds adrift from the Forza Nova, Viral and Danger were now first and second, while Danny was in P4, behind the McLaren of Adriana.

Then on lap 36, Rusalka had a puncture before the final corner and came for an unscheduled pitstop and the pitstop was ‘a bit Italian’ as Rusalka had too much wheelspin when leaving her pit box. This dropped her to P12 and out of the points with the Team Galaxia OSCGP002 of Rayfa Dawnlight now in P10, she decided to go for it. From laps 37 to 42 she overtook Monika Dawnlight, Sparkling Lionfire and Aria Blaze to get herself up to P7.

On the final lap of the race, she wanted to take on the Red Bull of Starlight Glimmer but the race was over by the time Viral held off Danger to take the win and extended her lead in the championship by 27 points. Adriana completed the podium with Danny Dean in P4 and Sonic Flash in P5. Starlight finished 6^th, Aria was 8^th, Sparkling Lionfire 9^th and Monika 10^th.

Rayfa realised that she was definitely the new number one at Team Galaxia, she didn’t want to tell the recovering Oscura Galaxia as it was injure her ego more than her crash at Blaze City.
