Everypony, everypony, who is raised in the surrounding area is warned of the danger. Even the smallest of foals are warned away.
Applejack is trying to make a delivery, taking a route through the forest that lingers on Ponyville's collective consciousness. Rainbow Dash accompanies her. Things happen, and something develops.

I'd say you succeeded! The conversation between the two was fun to read and even through the life-or-death situation, the fact that they really cared for each other shone through. Nice backstory about the forest, too! I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
I adoreee the backstory and world-building and the way you brought out their characters!
Ahhh, it's driving me somewhat crazy. There was this scene... in Speed, I believe. (The movie.) Where they talked about how relationships forged under extreme circumstances rarely ever last long. However, can't argue with an overdose of adrenaline being a decent catalyst to start something in the first place, right?
This was an entertaining run (harrharr) - I could do with some more of that. Anyway...
