As Twilight is quickly discovering, there are many wonders to be had in Equestria, but unfortunately not all of them are positive experiences; when a storm hits while she is studying alone late one night, she's left feeling more afraid than she's ever been before. Fortunately, her mentor is there to provide her with some solace, and a startling confession of her own!

Not since a night very much like this one when Luna had held her close while she’d been cowering under her covers. “You don’t need to be afraid of the dark, Celestia,” she had said lovingly, “not while I’m here to protect you.”

:twilightblush:

This is a really nice take on a young, nervous Twilight -- and Celestia is equally well-drawn. Nicely done!

Absolutely adorable.

“You don’t need to be afraid of the dark, Celestia,” she had said lovingly, “not while I’m here to protect you.”

like this, shows her reason for being afraid. lulu isn't there for her.

It’s reasonable to fear lightning storms even indoors. I was in a house that was struck by lightning once, and me and the other two present all got intense migraine headaches the instant it struck. It also set off a battery operated timer that was not in use at the time. That much electricity is mind bending.

*rubbing his tears away* it is not often that I find such a beautiful story directly telling out of a wonderful perspective...

Absolutely adorable... and the funny thing is... something like what Celestia said had my mother always said to me when I was younger...
Nice take on adorable little young Twilight... that is how I think of Twilight when she would have had to be young...
:fluttercry:

This kind of reminds me of another story that sadly will never be finished, but in this other story Nightmare Moon wins and takes Twilight Sparkle as her student (the exact circumstances are rather different) but in any case, there is a stormy night and Nightmare Moon shows surprising empathy towards the quivering little ball of adorkable fluff that is young Twilight.
Anyways, Saarni, you have a gift for short stories that have all the emotional depth of some of the much longer works.
It should be noted that I am almost 30 years of age and I still occasionally get frightened by storms, and as Celestia says, fear is nothing to be ashamed of it has a very important role in our lives, and those that dismiss fear/claim to be fearless are either fearful of appearing weak, outright lying, or are on the path of becoming monsters in their own right.

I can see why this story has no down votes. Well done!
