No Man Left Behind - CrimsonWolf360

Humanity arrives in Equestria to find a long lost crew of humans. What they find instead, will either define who they are as human beings, or end them for good.

Okay I have to stop you right there!
You may be many things, but you are ceranly NOT a bad Artist.
I always loved your amazing work and I hope that there are other stories coming from you.

I.....LOVE it!

10174095
thank you so much for that. That truly does mean a lot to me. I have a few ideas floating around in my head, but I'm not sure if and when they'll make it into a story. Regardless, thank you for reading my work and appreciating my art. It's humbling, and is why I tried so hard in the first place.

10175013
:D I'm glad you feel that way <3

All I can say is Bravo!

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading all of your stories (and your artwork too). I may have taken some time from when I first asked you for your fimfiction link over on deviantart to when I started reading your stories, but once I did start I was hooked.
Thank you for creating and sharing this universe with us.
With that being said, if you want to stop writing I respect that decision, but I do hope that you reconsider. I'd be up for some pre-teen/teenage hijinks of Sable Icon. Or maybe something more serious like him trying to find his place among other fillies and colts his age, since he is quite unique. Even some slice of life and/or romance stories of Jason and Tempest, or Rebecca and Melody.
You've created quite a bit of potential with the Discovery Connected Universe that I feel like it'd be a shame if you stopped here. But again, if you want to stop, I respect that.

Again, thank you for your stories, and I do hope to see more from you in the future.

10175071
Thank you for saying that. I've always enjoyed reading your comments on my stories and it goes without saying that I'm beyond thankful to have you as a reader. I've tried my hardest because of you and people like you, and it really means the world to me that you've stuck with me for so long.

As for this story universe, I can't promise anything. Continuing the story with Sable Icon does sound appealing, but I don't think I'm going to write anything more continuing this universe until at least Gen 5 hits. I like to keep my stories somewhat relative to the cannon universe, so maybe something could come of that. Who knows? What I can say for sure is that I'm really proud of this story universe, and I think for now, this is the perfect place to leave it. At least, for a little while.

I think I'll write another story here and there, but probably one shots and short stories. Writing over a hundred thousand words takes a lot out of me for one story, and I'd like to spread that energy out over a lot of other stories.

But once again, thank you. I appreciate you and your input more than I could put into words <3

10175079
Glad to hear you are at least considering a longer sequel to this universe. It kinda sounded like you were completely done with it, apart from maybe a short here or there.

So I suppose we'll have to see what the future holds and I'm looking forward to more stories from you.

10175114
As am I. I'll hopefully see you in the future when the next story goes live, whenever that may be :)

Extra story: Meanwhile, back at the ship......

Many months earlier, The base had received a report that one of their V-45 aircraft that carried Jason and his teammates, sent to do the night watch, had mysteriously disappeared off their radar last night. Captain Lupika was standing on the bridge, looking out the window when a group of marines had arrived to report about the missing V-45.

Lupika: "So marines, did you find anything about the missing aircraft that sent a message? The one that had Jason and his team?"

Marines: "Negative, sir, we searched the entire land, but we could not find any sign of the V-45's last known location, nor did we even see any sign of Jason and his team. It's like they just vanished off the radar without a trace."

Lupika: "Damn", he said. He then turned to the crew and sighed. He then said: Alright everyone, it officially looks like this mission has been a complete failure and a waste of time, because not only David Lawson and his crew are still missing, but now Jason McKnight and his team."

Marines: "Well, what the hell is gonna happen? What can we do right now?"

Lupika: "Men, we are packing up and leaving this unknown and potentially deadly planet, and heading back to Earth so we can memorize both the groups that didn't make it."

Marines: "But what if both the groups are still out here? What if they are still alive?"

Lupika: "Unfortunately men, but the chances are very slim, and that means they are gone. I'm sorry that we had failed to bring David Lawson back, but with Jason McKnight and his team also gone, we have no choice but to head home."

Later, after everbody and everything has boarded the ship, it then takes off, leaving the atmosphere and getting into orbit. Lupika looks out the bridge window one last time on the planet and gets a look of sadness, as the ship enters slipspace and leaves the planet behind.

Many months later....

Back on Earth, a memorial service is being held at the military base for the two groups that went missing. Lupika, the marines and even their families (including Jason's family) had arrived to mourn the loss of both groups. The wall's left side has the names and pictures of David Lawson and his crew on it, and the right side is identical, with pictures and the names of Jason McKnight and his team on it. After a speech and a three volley salute, Lupika places his hand on the wall and says: "Since you both didn't make it back, i just want to say, Earth, it's defences, and it's people will miss you two, and that we will never forget about you."

Meanwhile, back on the planet Equis at night, Jason and Tempest Shadow were on the balcony of Tempest's room on the Castle of Friendship.
Jason suddenly notices a star flying across the night sky and then thinks of it as the ship, he then sighs at the sight of it, which attracts Tempest's attention.

Tempest: "What is it, Jason? What's wrong?"
Jason: "It's just that.....if only we had more time, we could had told our people back at our ship that there is life on this planet, then we would had shown the human race that your kind is like us and then we could have had first contact with each other. But unfortunately, it looks like that opportunity went away, now that they are gone back to Earth."
Tempest: "I know that feeling Jason, like when you told us that humankind had arrived in a starship. If only we had more time, we could had introduced ourselves to them. And by the way, who is this "Lupika" human?"
Jason: "He is our captain. I could told him that two of our teammates didn't make it, and we could have shown them what David Lawson had become once we came back, if we had more days. And now, since they don't know about us, they are possibly gone, forever."
Tempest: "But what about your home on your planet, will you miss it?"
Jason: "I will, Tempest, I will, along with Earth." As they both smiled.

Lupika, taking his hand off the wall, then also smiled, sadly. "Godspeed, David and Jason, godspeed." he said, as he and the marines saluted, and left.

I love it. A fitting end for the lost crews :)

I am sorry but the chapter would benefit from this song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLMQtZA7tBo; but it really depends on your personal taste, I would love to see more of this Alternate Universe genre in the future. My biggest question is why Jason and Rebecca haven't been changed into a pony yet; as we have read from this series that Magic poisoning can kill a human in 6 months and it has clearly been more than 6 months, so will they become a pony in the future in your series?

10186918
That... that was the whole point of the journey to the island. To get the crystals so that a unicorn could cast the spell to allow magic to flow through their bodies without harming them. Jason and Rebecca won't ever turn into ponies because they no longer need to.

This was a great story. I wasn't sure how you were going to add on to the story of Crimson Sky and Midnight, and you did a bang up job! I enjoyed the story from start to finish. I love Sky and Mid's relationship (oh to have something like that for myself!), but you really sold me on Jason and Tempest. Edgy pony snuggles are the very best snuggles. ♥

Seriously, though, great work, and I can't wait to see what you decide to write about next (no pressure, honest!).

10192068
Thank you! I'm so happy to hear that, and thank you so much for reading the story. I really, truly appreciate the kind words, and whenever I decide to write again, hopefully I'll see you there :D

Another enjoyable story. Happy for Jason and Tempest. Always helps to have someone there, who understands you, when dealing with trauma and guilt on that scale. Sky and midnight are going to have their hooves full, for a while. joys of family makes it all worth while:) great show with this AU, man. See you in the next one, if you decide to write more.

10246115
Thank you for reading. It makes me so happy that you liked my work, and I'm beyond thankful to have you as a reader. I'm immensely proud of how each story turned out, and I have an idea for an upcoming story. I won't say anything about it since it's still just an idea and I haven't committed to writing it yet, but the more I think about the idea, the more I like it.

10246249
Thanks. If you go for it, Take your time with your idea and good luck to you.

10269719
Oh okay. That was actually my first thought but then a couple other ideas came to mind, which is why I asked.

10269764
No problem. I see you commented this on the Epilogue. Damn you read fast lol

10270504
Not sure how that happened, unless it automatically does that if you comment on the main page. I am making faster progress than I expected but I've just finished chapter 11. And speaking of that chapter, I was pleasantly surprised at the classic you used as the theme. I'm enjoying the story, and loving the little interactions between Jason and Tempest. Last, what you said about the beginning of the next chapter has me intrigued. Guess I'll find out what you mean shortly.

Edit: Yup, looks like that's what happened. I'll try to comment on specific chapter I'm on just to make it clear which one I'm talking about.

10270563
Ah, I see. Well I'm glad you're enjoying the story so far then. I tried my best to give Jason and Tempest a good relationship :)

This was a great way to end things and I liked the story overall. When you said that there'd be no human-to-pony transformations, I was wondering how that would be accomplished since magic kills humans. Going back to that crystal Mid contemplated using was a nice workaround to that issue. It was unfortunate that Ed had to die but it was a noble sacrifice. Though cliché, it was a nice touch to have Mid and Sky's newborn colt have part of Ed's name. Also, not sure I'm about to cry "SHIP!" regarding Rebecca and Melody; though they do seem to be quite friendly at least, so maybe something's there, maybe not. :trollestia:

I've enjoyed reading this story and all the previous stories that ultimately lead to No Man Left Behind. Whatever you decide to do next, I wish you luck. Last, I did say I'd blame you if any of those themes became earworms for me, and a couple have.
They are now in my playlist....so screw you. :derpytongue2:

10272908
Hehe, glad a few of them stuck with you ;)

Thank you so much for reading all my work. It was a joy to write and I'm beyond proud of how it all turned out. I have a few ideas for my next story, so hopefully I'll see you there :D

Hi. I generally prefer not to comment on stories (I'm a lurker at heart), but since the series is done now and you invested time and effort into writing 200,000+ words that I've for the most part enjoyed I feel I should leave some of my scattered thoughts on the Discovery-verse as a whole.

I'm one of those people who didn't like David's transformation into a pony back in the original story. It felt abrupt, and speaking for me personally I'm mainly a fan of HiE romance who also likes Sci-Fi first contact scenarios, so when I saw the series was shifting more towards ponified human slice-of-life I tuned out. Not really your fault here, that's just my personal preference when it comes to stories. I saw a recent story of yours make the featured box, and that reminded me of the Discovery and I saw the last entry in that series was this story. So I went back and read everything through in the past three days.

I didn't enjoy Learning to Fly all that much. I speed read through it just to get to the other stories. Not really on you, just more of my personal story preferences as stated earlier.

Scars and A Place to Call Home were good. I like your take on Tempest Shadow. You seem to have a good handle on the Mane 6 and most of the canon characters. I could definitely see a well-meaning but aloof Twilight leading Tempest into that stadium fiasco without realizing how poorly it would go for her.

Now, No Man Left Behind.

I enjoyed the slow burn of the initial setup. A lot of similar stories rush having the landing humans and ponies meet each other (I think this may have been due to past site rules not letting a story pass moderation unless ponies were involved in the first chapter, but don't quote me on this). I'm glad we got to get at least some background on Jason and his comrades before the adventure itself kicked off.

The adventure itself was a fun journey. I enjoy the way you write action scenes (and love scenes as well). I wish we had gotten to see Mike and Eddie get fleshed out a bit more in their own right, but I get the feeling you were starting to feel burned out while writing this and that likely would have pushed this story's word count past 200K.

The romance between Jason and Tempest was of course the stand-out. In that regard, I feel you nailed it. It was paced well. The time they chose to consummate it was... questionable, but I do feel you justified that well enough in the story itself.

My only real issue is the adjective repetition you seem to do. I can't count how many times I saw the word "mulberry" in the story, and by the end I never wanted to read that word again for the rest of my life.

Despite that minor quibble, you are one of the better authors on this site, and I hope to see more of your writing in the future, MLP or not.

10324596
Well thank you so much for saying all that. Hehe, I know what you mean about my adjective repetition. To be honest, mulberry was pretty much the only color I could think of to describe Tempest's coat color, and I was so busy with so many other things, as well as trying to write about 2-3K words a day, that I didn't really try to find more ways to describe her color.

Regardless, I can't tell you how much I do appreciate you reading through my work (whether you liked the direction I took or not) and and your kind words. I appreciate the criticism as well, since I do have a lot I still need to improve in my writing. That said, I hope you read Cold and my future works, whatever they may be :)

Ok. So just finished the story. Its solid I enjoyed it but theres one giant issue. When they went after the crystals you specifically had eddie make a comment about someone having to stay behind to keep the portal to the beach open for the other one to leave then proceeded to ignore it moments later after doing the terminator thing.

10348167
The portal stays open for a few seconds after someone lets go of the wall. The reason Jason had to hold the portal open for Eddie was because he was in there for over a minute. Jason had enough time to open the beach portal and walk through before it closed.

10421567
--------> they didn’t know what type of planet this is, for all they knew, Equus could’ve been the most dangerous, unforgiven, acid raining-rust croroting, shithole in the entire Andromeda Galaxy, <--------

10422278
I think it's pretty reasonable to assume that she would think humanity would know better. I mean, we have satellites now, and celestial telescopes that let us tell the surface of Mars isn't rust rain and such. What Tempest is getting at is that their armor looks more like it was designed for war, not harsh environments, which, to be fair, is completely correct.

10422334
true, and we have seen Venus too, that's legit hell in our Solar system,

just to give you an example of how hellish Venus is, there's so many Chemicals in Venus's Atmosphere, it rains Iron, plus, Russia did send a armored recon sat to Venus once, it bearly lasted an hour before it was reduced to a rusted husk on the surface,

10518548
I'm proud of that one :D

"Pinkie's just a little... too excited, heh. It happens." Spike shrugged.

Too much coffee?

Good story. Me likey. Of course, I'm not one for clop, so I skipped over those scenes, but otherwise this was great!

10521873
I'm glad you enjoyed. "I know not everyone wanted to read the clop, but I felt like the story covered adult themes, and so it needed to be very adult in nature. I did include in the chapter title which chapters were going to have clop in them just for your very reason. Either way, I greatly appreciate you sticking with me and reading my work. It truly means a lot :D

I started reading the discovery this month and now ik here.....all I have to say is bravo man very few human stories on this site are this good idea even say this is top 5 material i loved this story and stay cool.

10772551
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you liked the stories. I'm very proud of this series and how it all turned out, so I can't overstate how much that means to me <3

What a great universe! I just finished reading all of them and I think everything tied up perfectly at the end. Plenty of ups and downs and I enjoyed every word! I'm watching your new story in progress with great interest

10990340
Thank you! I'm very happy to hear that. I'm super proud of this series. I hope you continue to enjoy the new story.

I have to go back and read the other stories in the series before I touch this one I just wanted to stop here and say that the Cover art for this is a gorgeous piece of work.

10992145
Thank you! The artist is absolutely wonderful.

Just finished this one.

Great story.

Nice to read one that isn't "Evil humanity, Glorious Pone" like so many stories tend to do.

I think the only thing letting this one down is that it did feel a little rushed near the end there, but it still had a good resolution to it, and as you said, you were feeling a little burnt out by the end there. I'm glad you were able to finish it. So many good stories sit here for years with "Incomplete".
I'll admit, the room got a little fuzzy around the edges occasionally, so.... well played.

You've shared some pretty epic music too, to go with each Chapter. So, I'll leave this one as my thoughts for when Eddie went through the Portal.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rridXskgWg&ab_channel=gamedaily

Lastly, I hope we do get to see more of this AU someday. Would be cool to catch up with all the characters again later down the track, maybe with Third Contact, lol.

11024509
Well thank you so much! I'm really proud of this story and all the others in this AU. I have put some serious thought into going back to it one of these days, but I'm not sure how or when I'd go about doing that, both in real life and in the story universe. I think I'll save it for after the release of Gen 5's tv series and decide there. I've got a few ideas lying around that I might just use when that time comes.

11024582
That'll be interesting to tie into G5, depending on how far in-universe that G5 is after G4.

Good luck to ya!

In the meantime, I'll keep following the other story, All's Fair in Love and War.
It's definitely grown on me.

Was something originally suppose to happen with Tempest's horn? In the desperation it hinted at it but I'm at the end now and nothing came of it 🤔

11131746
Tempest only got a mana crystal from Teilight to help her channel a spell or 2. It wasn't meant to be a replacement, and I kinda liked how the movie left off with her realizing that she's still strong despite not having it. I wanted to kinda keep that theme with her in this story.

"I swear, everyone here is way too nice to be genuine. There has to be some kind of ulterior motive right now." Mike asserted.

now if that dosen't say something about the human race......
