This story is a sequel to Lows And Highs

Sunset Shimmer is still recovering from her mental breakdown. While she is of course grateful to Rarity for helping her to reemerge from her shell, no illness can heal overnight. Also, Sunset has her limits. One of those is being awoken before sunrise. Rarity had promised not to, so why is she in Sunset's apartment at the forbidden time? Surely she has a good reason, right?

This story is part of Sunset's Recovery Arc.

Very well written I do hope Sunset will return to school.

This has the potential for a Sunset/Rarity romance ship. I look forward to more stories from you.

7708292 - As I said elsewhere, I'm sure she will, in time. :raritywink:

7708616 - Oh I'm very aware of the shipping potential. But (my) Sunset is in a very vulnerable position right now. Let's let the poor girl heal a bit more, okay?

7708830 - Well, they are my two favourite MLP characters. I should hope I'm able to write them by now. Thank you for the compliment.

Holy cheese! Congrats on getting featured!

"Become the Burrito." :rainbowlaugh:

maybe it was because Sunset appealed to Luna's innate desire to undermine the system.

A nice bit of characterization for the Night Princess' human counterpart.

Satisfied, Sunset turned off the phone and, in a fluid motion, ensconced herself in her bed, wrapping her comforter around herself, becoming the burrito, allowing the power of sleep to overtake her, hoping that her dreams would be pleasant this time.

Kinda want to see for shits and giggles.

…I just remembered that ‘Nothing’ is also Classical Equestrian slang for a mare’s sexual organs. And this tangent just got really weird. Thanks a lot for making me analyze Flankspeare, Princess Celestia.

This one line has made 90% of the canon show become a LOT dirtier.:trollestia:

a well-read ex-horse.

Cute :3

“Well,” Sunset said, “On the plus side, this will help me sleep...

It seems Sunset and both experience chrysalism

Think at the bright side, at least it isn’t 3:00 am

I feel like this part of the arc is one short story away from pretty strong. You're showing us quite a bit about Sunset's rise from rock bottom, but as I've said before, you only showed us rock bottom. You didn't show us much about how she got there. I feel like with one story in that timeframe, this would be a much stronger arc.

This just plain heartwarming.

“I still can’t believe you brought your own cosmetics to my apartment at four in the morning,” Sunset said as Rarity, now mostly dry from the bath, studied herself in the mirror.

Have you met rarity

Huh, must be equestria's version of Shakespeare. That's interesting. :applejackunsure:

She turned her head to find a teen-aged girl with bone-white skin and long purple hair standing above her, jostling her. The girl was dressed in a baby-blue shirt tight enough to show off her slim figure, a purple pleated skirt, purple boots, and several bracelets. Also visible were the purple straps of the backpack she still wore.

Seems like rarity broke Sunset's promise. :ajbemused:

Rarity closed her eyes and whimpered as she gave a single terse nod.

God damn it rarity why. :facehoof:

“I still can’t believe you brought your own cosmetics to my apartment at four in the morning,” Sunset said as Rarity, now mostly dry from the bath, studied herself in the mirror.

Not surprised there as I dint think rarity would have wanted to use Sunset's even if she did have any or not to use. I mean that's rarity for ya. :ajsmug:

“But the news is so boring!” Rarity whined.

It's still important to watch, I felt the same til a year ago.

“Oh! Sorry!” Rarity said, realizing she had accidentally forced her friend to recall unpleasant memories. “I’m really off this morning, aren’t I?”

Ya think. 😒

“I guess I can’t really be surprised,” Sunset said to her somnolent friend. “You got even less sleep than I did. Though I am impressed you can fall asleep that fast. Let me get you somewhere more comfortable, okay?”

Guess she's not going to school after all.

on the nature of nothing - I think that pure, raw, random noise is likely the most appropriate concept to be truly nothing at all. Utterly lacking in form or substance, not containing patterns of any kind that would allow it to be defined in any meaningful or concrete way. Naming it does not provide even a little bit of information of it's absolute state. Emptiness, blankness, these are predictable, nameable, comprehensible and tangible. The concept of "empty" is very thoroughly something. But true randomness? It utterly eludes the grasp of reason. It cannot be bounded or measured or otherwise simplified into a symbolic form for communication, substitution is impossible, and it can only be represented and shared as it's real, unabridged self.

Rather than a minimum, the most appropriate "nothing" seems to be the most extreme maximum of something-ness.
