Link awakens by a strange voice, and soon finds out hes been gone from the land of Hyrule for many years, now called Equestria. Link must gather his courage once again to defeat the forces of evil, rescue the four sages, and save the land and the ponies that live throughout it.

yes, Link will talk. I personally find it hard to write for a character that never speaks, so there ya go.

I believe he means canon in terms of the story, not in terms of the Zelda universe. Hyrule Warriors is still it's own separate thing completely separate from Zelda proper. Unless the big N said something at E3 that I missed.

Since I'm a Halo fan, I couldn't help but notice that the part with Link waking up is a lot like Master Chief waking up in Halo 4.
FYI: I do know that it was based on the trailer for LoZ: BOTW shown at E3, I just couldn't help myself.

7326570 You the opening narration reminds me alot of the Skyward Sword prequal manga that was included in Hyrule Historia. Instead Skyloft is not formed and Hylians are more or less wiped in this version. They even both featued a scarf wearing Link that is also also a knight. Although it was stated that this was one for long while already unlike the Hyrule Warriors version.
Thus you have essentially created a fourth timline. It would fit with canon and still explain the differences. Though what you is have already pretty good. Although I would have liked if the journey from the Awakening chamber was a bit more detailed. Especially since they cannot be that close to ponyville maybe near The Crystal Mountains past Canterlot. Oh well it still shaping up well.
