I really like this story. Your imagery of the subject's surroundings could use a bit of work and more description of inner thoughts would be good , but otherwise it's pretty well done. That said, this chapter.... Prime just killed an uncountable amount of innocent civilians, and over an assault. This would be ok if the MC was a dark or dark gray oriented character in nature, but he is not supposed to be. His supposed "neutrality" has led him first to brutally kill a spy that hadn't assaulted anyone, kill a messenger party who was not hostile, brutally torture and kill one of the messengers, and now wholesale genocide of a species, of which many innocents were present, over a kidnapping and assault. These acts are war crimes and murder of the highest order and, frankly, despicable and monstrous.

Right at this point he had to put a bullet in her head. Actually, he had to do that instead of eliminating her entire hive. This is exact opposite of what any even remotely sane person would do.
