So wait, is this chapter even part of the story? Usually I find Christmas specials or other holiday chapters being separate tales, unrelated to the rest of the writing...

However if this IS part of the story:

So maybe either, A.) Excalibur respects Shining Armor, at least in some way shape or form,
and/or B.) Excalibur might see something in Shining that he doesn't normally see?
Or some other possibilities not listed.
(P.S. Why masterly made Skana? Was it hand made, or just manufactured in the Foundry with some slight modifications?)

Its a yes and no kind of stand alone. Almost like the ??? Halloween chapter. I've read a few stories that have these holiday specials in the main story, but they are totally unrelated. I was going for that same thought, Christmas was close and I didn't do anything last year. But this just came very late.

ahh I see. The last sentence makes a bit more sense, now that I know it's connected in some way. It just seemed that the skana gift (mainly the quote/inscription) had quite a bit of detail put into the idea. Especially with the fact that an alien weapon given as a gift to Shining (aka Sword Fighter), especially after that last duel... I don't have the feeling that it would just be ignored in the story. At least maybe see him using it?

Cracked up at this chapter even more than the laser pointer scene!

Anyone else think the actual encounter with Pitch Black was anticlimactic as fuck? There was all this anticipation and intrigue like "Sombra's still around? and this guy's being the boss of him!"
And then he shows up, rushes them, and dies immediately. Like Stalker with the average full squad. Then the chapter ends like 8 paragraphs later.
