Personally, I'm hoping for more princesses.
Oh that's just great. He gave away foreknowledge "For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils". So now she may never sabotage that headdress and have that meeting with Luna in her dream.
Speaking of Luna I noticed that old world speak in the last thing "Rarity" said in her dream. So Luna saved her and then disguised herself as Rarity.
I thought the dream was odd, as dreams go. You squeezed a (young adult's) lifetime into a single dream without the theme of it straying. Dreams tend to be either short, or shifting from one unrelated thing to another with some regularity/frequency.
Getting caught masturbating by 'normal' people would just have them get embarrassed. If anything, they would be mad that he masturbated in a public place. Who does that? But calling him a monster? I take it his parents were deeply religious.
What's with his obsession with breast feeding? Is it a fetish of his? I've never been breast feed cause my birth mother was a neglectful drug addict who left me alone for the first two years of my life for hours at a time, but I doubt it is something you can remember.
6558555 Actually, that isn't true. I've had dreams that have lasted an entire lifetime. Remember that dreams do not have rules, besides how much can be rendered at once, and sometimes uncommon scenarios will happen, like a dream that stayed on one topic for a long time. Heck, I've had dozens of dreams that lasted life times, or felt like it.
A bit much talk about sex for my taste.
After finishing this chapter I have to say that his life isn't that bad. He was able to finish high school, and he was able to keep at a job. He doesn't have horrible depression that makes it practically impossible to get out of bed, and he didn't get physically ill just from the thought of school. He may have lost the ability to run, but it isn't really a big deal in this day and age. Heck, it just sounds like he is a naturally bitter human being.
Oh for god's sake, in the Golden Oak Library? Is nothing sacred? Twilight sleeps there!
Ugh, now I'm glad Tirek burned it to the ground.
Hehehe, I hace to say, he is really letting herself turn into a vouyerist... And that's not very good. Hope this gets better eventually and she sees the light. XD
We must has Sweetie Belle eating cookies in an adorable way! I demand it.orig01.deviantart.net/085d/f/2011/307/2/2/sweetie_belle___nom_nom_by_cptofthefriendship-d4ezqor.png

Well, personally my dreams rapidly shift from one "related" thing to another. I was trying to make it look like you went from a doctor's visit with a broken ankle, then suddenly a doctor's visit with allergy problems, and such for worsening, difficult-to-heal problems. These dreams are intended to seem somewhat abnormal though, so there's that. What I probably should do is spread this dreams over 3 different nights, like where Scootaloo went from the Olden Pony, to the Headless Horse, to the Olden Pony getting owned by Rainbow Dash, and only on the third night did she receive closure. But that would make this story even longer, and slower... and it's even more unrealistic to have 3 related dreams on consecutive nights than to have 1 vivid dream of 3 related but chronologically disparate scenarios.
No, this latest dream was 3 disparate but related scenarios, not the compression down of a young adult's life. The one before it, with the open wounds, and all the people shouting about failure and children, was the compression down of a young adult's life.
I'll take another look at it anyway, thanks.
6558508
Destroy all the canons! And, yes.
6558323
What? But I've already written about all 2 of them!
6559101
I'm sure you've seen people on Tumblr make it very clear how men are heartless monsters who aren't capable of empathy, so will gladly masturbate in public if they can get away with it, just because they're so uncaring of those who might get retroactively virtua-raped by learning about it later. Honestly, the rumor at a school I attended once was that the reading/practice rooms in the library were used for outright sexual intercourse, but that's a bit more socially respected than masturbation.
Some people remember breast feeding, but only for mothers who really draw it out well into the second year. And yes if it's not obvious, this protagonist has a few "mommy" issues.
6559142
It's hard to write about dreams, because so much meaning is conveyed in so little. I had a dream once that as far as the literal experience was "standing in this hallway, walking past other ponies. Standing on some dance floor. Outside, trotting up to a podium," but writing about which hallway, why I was there, what was going on, and why Jesus was so disappointed in me ended up taking up like 6 pages of frantic scrawl. It's kind of sad that it feels like a lifetime, but when you try to remember it continuously, you realize you only had a few brief flashes of dreaming, and that's all you ever get.
6559144
Don't worry, they won't even bring up the subject for a while now.
6559170
That really is one of the fundamental causes of prolonged human suffering I think. People saying that it doesn't count as suffering, because other people have it worse. But yes, it's supposed to be pretty clear nothing went horribly south in the protagonist's life, and they were just an unremarkable nobody, until they died, forgotten. Eventually, I'm trying to give the impression that it doesn't matter if you don't suffer or not; life can still be a horrific experience.
Frankly, people who endure hunger and disease usually end up with a more positive outlook on life, because they're usually ignorant and uneducated enough that they can still believe in things like karma and salvation.
6559412
That's not all Twilight does alone in her bed at night.
6559460
I think you mean exhibitionist, not voyeur? Though admittedly Sweetie Belle doesn't have many options at this point except to sit back and watch.
6559719
What's that? Sweetie Belle forced to eat every bite of her mashed alfalfa? I hear and obey!
6561916
I'm fairly sure the protagonist did not express that women are bitches that love niggers with giant dicks, but rather that some women are afraid of the existence of niggers with giant dicks. If you were thinking the protagonist is despicable for saying bigotry X is real, what they were actually saying is people who believe bigotry X is real, are real. Thus implying that bigotry X is an unreal delusion of crazy people. Plus she's a chantard; it's part of her twisted past, that racist memes have infected her thought processes, even though she doesn't believe them for a second. When someone says "This shit is fucked up" that does not mean they have a scat fetish.
Anyway the language is a little strong, and there are a lot of double meanings. So I don't blame you for passing this story by. This is for the most part her unfiltered inner thought processes, so she might actually think something opposite to what she believes. For instance, you can't write someone thinking "People who believe niggers have huge dicks are morons" without writing the phrase "Niggers have huge dicks."
I suppose I could make it more impressionist, without saying as much about what the protagonist is thinking, but I kind of don't want to hide her thoughts and experiences, even if they're ugly.
6561924
I'm pretty sure is voyeur since she is not doing it publicly. The voyeur is masturbation with the feeling of might getting caught. She is doing it in a public place but there is no public to watch her actions therefore is not exhibitionism.
6559170
I would totally hate losing my fingers... ;w;
Thanks Dinkyseviltwin. Cause of this line "like Superman jizzing into Lois Lane." I got an image of Lois shooting into the sky like a bottle rocket.
Hmm. I'm not entirely sure I approve of the continued games of solitaire, but since you can scroll through it and cringe hoping it will end soon I can't really complain. And, I don't feel as bad knowing this story is about the dirtiest thing I've read on fimfiction so far. I try to avoid anything too risque. Plus, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to avoid something you'd rather not see or read. And, this isn't any worse than the Spells R' Us Fictions I've come across.
I actually have this theory that you can learn more about dreams by studying play therapy than Jungian psychology. I don't know why. But, with MLP:FIM it seems more likely that this would be the case than in our reality, or possibly unconscious dream realm (maybe?) where sometimes the most you can hope to accomplish is manipulation of the environment if not the players. Then again, I'm also interested in performance arts, crisis management, and communication strategies... I haven't studied anything related to psychodrama although that seems like it would be an interesting subject considering the word drama is in it.
That dream will give me nightmares
Haha Rarity treating that book as if it was a vial of Nitroglycerin. Brilliant.
also, missing quotation marks at the end.
6562043 Wait, when did he lose his fingers, besides turning into a horse?
6562442 I meant that he is like disabled and that I would not like to lose my fingers in a totally unrelated topic regarding your statement. I'm sorry I was kind of sleepy and just got from the streets to rest in home. Also, is there a guy down voting everything you say?
6562754 Maybe? I'm not sure.
6562830
It seems we scared him away.... For now.
Dreams can be so bad, had it been his backstory to a t it would have been contrived. But there is most likely more to his life than that. The shoe thingy just emphasis this. However dreams have a tendency to exagurated not to mention they reflect our own psyche. I like how his dreams are a lot more muted than they where in earlier chapters. Now its the slow march of decay where it used to be of urgency and shattering horror before. Now its more because of how unsure he is about his situation and potentially future life.
6562029
Voyeurism is when you get sexually aroused by watching other people have sex, whether secretly or openly. Exhibitionism is when you get aroused by being watched. I think potentially being watched does count as exhibitionism, because it means if you were seen, you would be totally turned on.
6562043
Eh, it's not so bad when you have gratuitous meddling authors who are granting you magic hoofsies.
6562103
Oh, that's not even scratching the surface.
6562237
My poor virgin eyes!
But seriously, I don't intend to make this all porny or anything. Only for comedic purposes, really. Right there, she's just doing what kids will do given their own devices, perhaps with a little help from preternatural knowledge. You're quite free to look aside politely when she's doing that, and hopefully enjoy the rest of the story.
Normally, authors will make a deliberate effort to change the scene right when things are getting explicit. That's so universal, that when we see an author who doesn't have that convenient scene change (me) it seems weird to read. But I like to think that it's their avoidance that makes it seem porny, not my lack of avoidance. I kinda wish more authors would be comfortable about just letting their writing flow naturally, without regard for if it happens upon a sexual moment or not.
6562269
When Rarity tells her that depression is a mental disease that can't ever heal...
6562367
Oops, thanks.
6562442
I mentioned losing fingers, I think. If you lose a finger, and someone else loses a leg, that doesn't make the loss of your finger a good thing, just because the leg is worse. Relative suffering, and all. But it is an interesting thought that she lost 4 fingers on each hand, yet considers herself healed rather than crippled from that.
6564099
Oh yes, her dreams are very exaggerated. Targeted, even. Though, it is possible to experience all those ailments in one lifetime, and I certainly would understand being depressed after doing so.
But I doubt there would be a mother/guardian figure conveniently standing there each time, poetically repeating the same line about wounds that won't heal.
6564914
Yeah, I kind of see the difference. It's her fantasies that make it exhibitionism and the fact that the other Sweetie watches makes it voyerism? Or maybe is just open exhibitionism. Hmmm... Exhibitionism sounds better. On the other hand... I would totally miss my fingers... I have to give away a finger and not use it because it was crippled and I felt powerless so losing moat of my body would be so bad for anyone. ;w; She is taking it so well for being a 'loser'.
6565008
Yeah, she's taking it... suspiciously well. It sure is a strange situation, so I dunno if it's voyeurism or exhibitionism, to get excited at the prospect of someone else walking in and seeing someone else masturbating with your body.
6565093
I think it is exhibitionisms like you said before. Because the way she is fantasizing to get caught while spreading her petals for 'the lucky guy who walks in' pretty much gives it away. Is a fantasy and as long as she is comfortable with it, it is that. On the other side what could possibly be exhibitionisms on the fact that everyone is naked and showing their delicious rumps for everyone to see. Maybe showing it explicitly like giving bedroom eyes while showing their stallion/marehood? Hmm... What could possibly go? Is some x to think about?
6564914 Didn't his mother die just before the story? Maybe she was the nagging kind...
Also I think his dreams now symbolize Not-Sweetie's worries for Sweetie rather than herself.
It was actually quite well done. Dreams about our fears tend to exaggerate those fears, making whatever you fear seem far worse than it actually is.
6561905
Actually, if you ask me, it's because they learn to appreciate what they do have. When you have a lot, though, it makes the bad things more noticeable. It's like a single firefly in a dark cavern, or a single smudge in a pristine whit room.
I'm quite well educated, myself, yet despite living in a low income/high crime area and having been homeless for several months, I can see all the good in the world. Yes, there is bad in the world, like crime, greed, and ignorance. When you focus on that, however, you miss all the good things; People risking their lives to save others despite not being a firefighter or rescue worker, or people dropping everything to travel across the globe to aid in relief efforts after a disaster despite not getting any recognition or reward.
It's perspective, and what one chooses to focus on.
6565174
Oh yes, that's another fascinating thing about pony exhibitionism. Without a nudity taboo, how do you feel like you're being sexual in a public situation? You'd have to ask an experienced nudist to be sure, but I think explicit sexual displays like spreading, presenting, pelvic thrusts and obviously coitus would do the trick, and I think a lot of people wouldn't be exhibitionist at all, without our society's nudity taboo perverting their sexual desires.
Then there's the idea that ponies become sexier by putting clothing on.
6565559
Not abusive, no. Her mother was actually one of the better influences in her life. Relatively speaking, of course. She'll reveal more about who she was as the story goes on, I suspect.
6566491
I did not say it was impossible for well educated people to be happy. Just that statistically, people who are well-to-do with a good education are unhappier than ones who are uneducated lower class workers. From what I read, average happiness increases with income, to the point where you're no longer starving to death, and then decreases from there on up.
I personally think it's partially the ignorance, and partially the activity that make poor people happier. People who are "not poor" are often inactive, both because they have no reason to expend effort on anything, and because their societies are often very repressive, punishing them for trespassing and loitering, and obliging these "lucky" people into jobs that involve a lot of sitting, inactivity and tedium. People who are poor don't have time to think, nor anyone encouraging them to think difficult thoughts, so they remain less vulnerable to the more damaging thoughts. In short, don't let the nam shub into your operating system.
There's also the fact that the system is so corrupt, that upper class people are actually poorer, and people on top flip the numbers to confuse that.
The problem of almost perfection being worse than flawed might play a major part too I guess. I couldn't say. The analogy of a single smudge in a white room is intriguing because that doesn't actually really bother me as much as a room that's long overdue for a cleaning.
6567406 That may also be the case. I know I would hate having all those restrictions placed on rich people by other rich people. That's what I respect (note, I didn't say 'like') about Bill Gates. He says fuck 'high society' and does what he wants.
6567406
Yes, I remember a philia regarding clothing called enditophilia which is the attraction to your partner in love to be clothed. So, it indicates most likely to be on the privacy or between ponies that know each other. So, there's that. Not to confuse with the paraphilias that are completely different given the sexual behavior of the person in question, there's the paraphilia of breaking clothes and the like of liking dirty clothing.
Ok... This has been this week's bedtime story, because it was featured and intrigued me (and none of my other fics were coming out with new updates)...
Just a few things that are throwing me off:
- Why isn't he trying to learn how to read? Surely it's just a new alphabet and not a new language-system, and he needs to be able to read up on things.
- I'm not sure you understand alot of the anatomy at play here, seeing as walking four legs requires less coordination and strength than walking on two. Real horses walk fine without grippers, why are your ponies different?
- Main-Character here likes to wallow. A lot. Like, I get that you're setting up the United States as a Dystopia (not enough people realize that it is) and that he's got a traumatic backstory, but everything keeps leading back to the wallowing...
- It's really hard to get into a story where the main character is... were you going for "a sex-crazed pedophile"? I mean, he just keeps talking about it... I mean, I get that you're probably trying to be more on the clop side than what I'm into, but I'm finding the perspective really confusing at times. Not that that's a bad thing: I've never really read a story with that point of view taken seriously, and I guess there's some expanded mindset of "oh, this is what those people have to live with", but it IS another barrier to me relating to him...
6568991
Good points, I have to admit. Thank you very much.
She's still trying to find someone to trust with her secret, and her first library outing was rather traumatic since she first realized she couldn't read. As for her second visit, they only had an afternoon, and she really wanted to learn more about what to do about things like her, then sort of got distracted since she's not the most competent soul out there.
This is a bit of a spoiler, but from the show, ponies actually seem to have at least two alphabets, one ideographic and one almost exclusively in cursive, and also English randomly, when they can fit it all in. So, it's not like it's just a substitution cipher. Try to learn to read cyrillic sometime; it gives you an idea just how hard it is to master a new symbology, even just to sound it out. She hasn't even scratched the surface so far, of the difficulty in learning how to read.
Walking is actually somewhat more complicated with er "grippers." There are reasons why ponies are different, but it's mostly just the fact that they simply are different. They're really, really, really not horses.
Ugh, I know. It's unbearable! You wouldn't believe how much wallowing I've had to delete because it just doesn't help the story at all. She is supposed to be somewhat disturbed, and introspective, but I'm really trying to find ways to cut back on the wallowing as much as possible, without taking important aspects out of her character.
For instance, I write stuff like "I wrack my brain trying to recall what was happening before I woke up like this, if I was witness to any insane posthuman monstrosities belting out Pinkie Pie songs while mass converting the population, or rainbow colored nuclear explosions going on outside my grubby little apartment window, or weird plunges into cryogenic chambers, but nothing struck me as familiar." and I try to figure out how to keep her from going off on wild tangents like nuclear explosions, but in the end I just can't think of any better way to show how she's thinking of how ludicrous it would have to be for things to have gone pony.
How do you express that soul gripping terror at the fear of being discovered to be a bad person, when your desire for good people to live doesn't include yourself, aside from "They’re going to think there’s something wrong and then they’ll investigate and find me and I’ll be dead forever and never get to see them again?" It's crazy and over-the-top, and I can't find more rational, sensible, acceptable words to describe how she's feeling right then.
I think she hit a low point in "Tests" chapter 5, distraught at her new physiology, and the inner war between her desire to illuminate others with knowledge, and her desire not to hurt them. After that, I didn't have to do much wallowing, I don't think. The nightmares are kind of shaking her pretty badly, though.
pfff, maybe?
I'm going for a character who is afraid that they are a sex-crazed pedophile. Too many whyboners, too much need to justify a crapsack world by finding blame in yourself, too little success at being sexual. Whether she is a sex-crazed pedophile, well... for some people, having a desire to masturbate has thoroughly condemned her already. For others, it has yet to be determined...
She's not intended to be an "Everyman" character.
6567611
Ponies in socks.
Ponies in lingerie.
tf-sential
6567458
Haha, yes that's much better than I could have put it.
Student loans!
6572733
That's what makes him so good, though. He's so messed up in the head that, while you can't identify with him, you still have that desire to see him grow as a person.
6568991
Uh, dude, you should look up the definition of 'dystopia'. A dystopia is 'an imagined place or state in which everything is unpleasant or bad, typically a totalitarian or environmentally degraded one.'*
The key part of this is 'everything is unpleasant or bad'. There is a lot about the US that is good. While our healthcare system is crap (for a 1st world nation) it's still the most advanced in the world. Even cancer, when caught early, is nothing but a nuisance now. Most 1st world nations can't say the same. Also, mass communication allows the trade of information to the point where despite having such a poor education system, we're still one of the most intelligent nations on Earth.
The US is still one of the best places to live, even if we have our problems.
*Definition from Google
6572733
To dirty clothes I was referring to... You know, used clothing and such with fecal or not... Yeah. Really odd. Well, that's their tastes, lingerine could enter to fetichism
6572733
I've looked at Cyrillic. I've learned Hangul. I don't think any of it is as hard as actually learning the language. Actually, I bet he could knock it out in a few afternoons if he tried. It just seems like, if you already know the language and the concept of reading, it shouldn't be hard to just sit down with a children's alphabet book and memorize the sounds...
But... they have... 4 legs...
Ok, try this, go get down on all fours right now, walking on your fingers and toes, like a pony, and try to walk around, like a pony. You don't fall over constantly because there's such a good center of gravity. That's why quadrupeds (like horses and dogs) can walk soon after birth while bipeds (like humans and birds) have to learn it. If that doesn't hold true, then you've changed the underlying mechanical physics.
Ah, so you're having trouble writing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. There are guides out there on good techniques for stuff like that, you should look them up. Maybe now would be a good time to have the character start progressing out of that, stopping himself when he starts on those tangents. I think you're already experimenting with that...
To be fair, while a large chunk of it is PTSD, he DID turn an 8 year old into a masturbation addict. That's not exactly "good person" material. At the same time, I don't know why he hasn't outright told her "if they find out that I showed you that they will kill me". That'd shut her up...
....ok, that came out creepier than I meant for it to, so I dunno....
Oh.... Ooohhhh.... Ok. Got it.
It's really not clear from the way you write it sometimes, but that's a much better perspective. I guess he's only really turned his attentions towards adults so far, so... (unless I was skipping past wallowing of horniness and missed something... I've been skimming alot...)
6574117
Now try to stand on four legs and walk around balancing only on your fingertips and toes. Now turn your head sideways from the orientation you feel like it is. I mean, sure it makes sense that she'd have an easy time walking, but it also makes sense that she wouldn't. It really is pretty arbitrary since we are already tossing in other horsey reflexes. It could be anywhere from feeling like you're playing Legends of Equestria Online, to complete paralysis.
Interestingly, humans don't have strong enough muscles to walk at birth. In cases of child abuse where the kid has been prevented from walking but still fed, I heard they've been able to pick up bipedal locomotion pretty quickly.
Pff, character development? Are you kidding? Look, here's NotSweetie doing a silly thing!
That implies there was a traumatic stress. There are other ways to be disturbed, besides seeing the little children gibbed 3 feet away from you by helicopter mounted cannons. It's honestly more akin to whatever you call the disease when lab rats are left in unstimulating environments with constant artificial lighting.
It might have something to do with the fact that the protagonist is not a huge jerk.
An 8 year old getting excited about something new and fun doesn't make them an addict. Wait until Sweetie starts going into painful withdrawal, before concluding she's an addict.
In fact, if you pay close attention you might notice that... NotSweetie is going through hug withdrawal...
6573400
I always have loved the games where you get to play a genuine character and discover who you are, rather than the ones who are like "select your gender/race/alignment:" There's a place for a character that's easy to identify with, but I don't really think that the body of Sweetie Belle is that place.
Maybe it wouldn't be, if they'd stop screwing over all the other places to live...
6575207
This is a common misconception: combat veterans actually account for a minority of PTSD cases, even if they are one of the most at-risk groups. Any traumatic event, especially at a young age and repeated or prolonged events, can induce PTSD. Things like childhood abandonment and stress-overload can cause PTSD.
...doesn't he believe that though?
This is actually a nationalist propagana problem: I constantly hear people saying things like "just being born in America makes you luckier than most of the world", often addressing people living in poverty. This is non-realistic though, as there are plenty of nice places to live in all over the world: Europe is nice, Canada is nice, Korea and Japan are nice, Australia and New Zealand are nice, South Africa is nice, parts of central and south America are nice, most of Russia is nice. Flipping it around, the United States leads the modern world in poverty, income inequality, and class-rigidity, meaning a person born into poverty in the US has it WORSE than a person born into poverty in Europe or Canada: they have less amenities and less opportunities. That's what I mean. People do not realize it, but America is not anywhere near the best country in the world, and we COULD be better, but we are constantly moving away from directions which would create a better society.
And author-guy here is also correct: countries like Iran and Vietnam would actually be alot nicer if it wasn't for US involvement.
a little play time for when no eyes are upon thee?
yay
6575971
Well, okay, but that's starting to seem pretty general a criteria. Child abandoment is a bit more obvious than child neglect, I think, or overbearing parents. Part of the charm of this protagonist's dilemma is the lack of any convenient traumatic experience to give them a reason for feeling so bad.
Has any huge jerk ever believed that they were a huge jerk? Anyway, I don't think the protagonist does believe that, but she is pretty down on herself at times.
You might find this amusing.
6576225
Rage can still hold a core of truth. I do try not to let myself be too affected by people who might be speaking in the heat of the moment, perhaps seeking ways of validating their own paradigm by sabatoging mine, but I think you can still get something good out of their words.
Thanks so much! I get so insecure about that stuff sometimes. I'll do my best to make sure not to leave out stuff like this!
And yet I had to resort to writing stories of my own, to get what I wanted written...
It's interesting how the piccayunishness of a single individual can be greater than the collective creative corpus of us all.
6576343
I really did that, didn't I.
6579561
6581899
Ok, lemme put it this way: trauma can come from things that don't even seem traumatic. PTSD is when a traumatic event or events cause the brain to write pathways in response to traumatic situations. Maybe it's not PTSD, but it's close enough you might look at it.
No, I mean, doesn't he believe they'll kill him?
I don't. It's pro-baby-boomer, and I'm pretty much done with any baby boomer complaining about gen-Y.
6582205
Oh, that's what you meant. I thought you meant the belief that it's a good idea to blackmail fillies into silence using your own well being as the threat. It's not so much she believes ponies will kill her, but that the likelihood of that is high enough, and the cost is dire enough that she can't convince herself it's a good idea.
Sorry you didn't find it amusing. I find baby boomers flailing about trying to pretend like the USA was ever good pretty amusing. And everyone is like "stand back and stare at him in awe, because we are but little people, and he is our wise counselor." It was so ham-handed, I just face palmed. Though, on the other hand, even if he's lying about how it once was, he's also trying to inspire people about what it might one day be.
ppffff nahhh, a nation that doesn't suck? And I thought magic ponies were a far-out fantasy!
6582225
Oh, he's correct, the economic structure was better in the 50s, but to blame the generation that's only been able to vote for a single presidential tenure is clearly absurd.
6620426
The protagonist hung around 4chan. They're rather bloodthirsty towards pedos there. The problem with a filly masturbating, in her eyes at least, is a lot of adults will be very, very angry that a child was able to learn about that at such a young age, and seek to murder with extreme prejudice whoever let her out of her cage long enough to get exposed to porn. Her low self esteem ensures that this will make her wonder whether she just doesn't understand their good reasons for doing so, rather than assuming it's a purely irrational reaction.

I'm neutral towards cats, myself. Admittedly goofy ones are funner than prissy ones. But when through perseverence and empathy, you do get the ice queen to warm to you, and only you, it's an affection that stays with you long after she's passed away.

She's not an infant though. She's an adult man, put by some unknown method into the body of a young filly. An unknown method that screwed up her motor complex, in a way only revealed by a doctor trying to explain it to an 8 year old. Plus she's walking on her fingertips, not her hands and knees; it's a bit different.

Almost no one would be selfish enough to let the charade go on for this long. That's sort of the point. It's a real struggle for me, honestly, to convincingly develop this character who is so reluctant to seek help, without making them completely unlikeable.
