The Narrator chucks his Bible at Twilight Sparkle's head, knocking her out cold.
When she recovers, she learns about a bipedal race called "Man" and how they fell from perfection, and how the deity known as "God" sent His only Son to die and rise from the dead in order to save them.
Eventually, Twilight reads all there is to read in it, and obsessively insists upon reading it more. The Narrator then adds to her Biblical studies by... What else? Chucking more books at her, of course!

I liked because this looks like fun...don't disappoint me now:raritywink:

I hope you aren't. :pinkiehappy:
As time goes on I will be including references and verses, and the qualities of God as she studies.
Kind of comes with the material. I hope my "Narrator" dynamic will be enough to keep readers entertained.

Well the thing is Twilight, scientist she is, is going to look for proof... or dismiss it as fiction outright.

5587440
Who says history isn't proof?
Still, the point being: She obsessively studies anything she reads, so it's a perfect fit.

5587446 She's gonna look for other sources. Historians don't just take a single source, they take dozens, hundreds even, to confirm what they've found is what actually happened. One source is woefully inadequate in the academic world.

I think the only reason it has dislikes is from the religious perspective. It was written rather nicely and the characterization was good. At one point I was confused when the narrator started speaking and I though it was Twilight, but I wouldn't dislike it because of that. Remember to be careful when targeting an audience.

5587452
Indeed. Thank you for that input, it just gave me an idea.

5587459

I think the only reason it has dislikes is from the religious perspective.

That's to be expected. From my past experience, our community isn't just atheist; it's you have to not believe with me or else.

Kind of ironic, then, that I became a Christian in part from our community's involvement.

5587467 While I'm not religious myself and generally tend to avoid anything with a heavy religious tone usually, this seems okay so far. By not religious I don't mean atheist I mean nothing has been proven/dis-proven so anything is open for belief, I believe it's called agnosticism right? Anyway religion has sparked enough real conflict, I hate seeing it start it here. With a fanbase around love and tolerance people have a hard time following that.

5587490
I'll say. Not even a month after I became a Christian, I got kicked from a bunch of Facebook groups just for professing my newfound faith.

Kinda felt disconnected from the community for awhile there, then I found there were others like me.

Oh, and yes, that is called agnosticism. It essentially says, "God cannot be known."

5587509

I got kicked from a bunch of Facebook groups just for professing my newfound faith.

Goes both ways too; families disown their children for coming out as atheist.

5587517
Yeah, and I don't believe that's right, either. That's not Godly parenting.

5587520
Exactly. But you have to remember my perspective...

A parent's job is to direct their children to the persons of God in everything down to everyday discipline.
When the child does wrong, gentle punishment and correction is fair, and points to the quality of the Father's justice, as well as mercy, which leads to His love.

In the marriage, the husband is to love his wife as Christ loves the Church. So much so, that he is willing to die to save her, if need be.
Why do I bring this up? Because displaying that to children points to the person of Jesus.

There's been lists upon lists on this topic, and I see it in my parent's relationship. They live what they believe, and it shows. I strive for the same, as incapable that I am.

I'm inclined to dislike this just because you gave her an NIV. Couldn't you at least have given her an ESV? (I haven't actually read this yet, so it might yet involve a proper study Bible. Like Hebrew.

5587579
Too bad I'm not studied in Hebrew or Greek.
Someday, someday. I plan on seminary.

5587459 I am also his editor, so thank you for giving something for me to watch for as well.

5587579 Now, to be fair, NIV, ESV, and NKJV I'd say are pretty dang close to accurate.

Although, like you, I prefer ESV, I don't see much of problem with the other translations.

5587693
As long as it's not heretical like what the JW's put out, or with the book of Mormon included, I'd say any version is a-okay.

Except the Catholic KJV, because the apocrypha has never been considered to be inspired. Those are mere fairy tales. Inspirational, but still fairy tales.

5587703 ...

Yes. I just used a really long, really foreign, REALLY CUTE, way to say 'This is true.'

I regret nothing.

5587693 I actually use the KJV because I don't like the Modernist movement, but the ESV is about the most literal you can get with "Modern" English(The KJV is Early Modern English, and the YLT is so ridiculously literal that it doesn't obey English syntax).

Fellow follower of Christ, It is great to know that my faith is also shared! I am Methodist/Wesleyan. How about some others? :moustache:

5587740
I am a Christian that attends a Baptist church in rural upper Michigan.

5587736 I agree with you there.

But, I would like something I can actually read without all the "thee's" "thou's" "thy's" and such. :twilightsheepish:

It's a bit too confusing for me at that point.

5587748
Yes, that's many people's complaint.

As time progresses, people need the Word in modern language, so that it may be understood. That is the purpose of different translations to begin with, so Christians who oppose them confound me.

5587756 I agree.

Although, there are translations that are just BAD...

Like you read it and go, "...Is this the recipe for Twinkies?"

That kind of bad.

You know, I get to see who's adding this to their favorites. I've had three or four do so as of yet.

It's surprising, people who aren't even Christians are adding it to favorites. Must've wrote it winningly then.

5587769 YOU LIVE IN MICHIGAN! Do you have snow because we have had all of 5 in.

Oooo, even a tiny mention of religion causes dislikes.

As a hardcore christian, this is really good!

So, Twilight becomes a variation of Christian by having a. Bible thrown at her.......That's how conversion works I guess? As a Catholic, I find this story... OK

This is definitely in character with Twilight. I can't wait to see how this goes.

5588083
I do believe I'll be consulting my pastor on a lot of material.

5588111 What you're doing is a nice thing, but you have to be careful as you're treading on thin ice.

5588118 Yeah,me em as a. Christian, you have to inner grate the religion naturally into the story

You got ALL my respect for having the guts to do this man. I worship different gods (okay MANY MANY different gods) then you but yeah we need more pro-religion in this world.

Also on Bibles I say New Jerusalem or Douay Rheims versions.

5589872
Thank you for the respect, man. Much appreciated, just remember that the Bible declares there's only one God, and I'm gonna stick to it while writing this.

5588366

just hope this doesn't go the way of several other stories like this, where the characters start killing anyone who isn't Christian... Because that's about as far from Christian as you can get. And yes, I have seen stories that do exactly that. There's one particularly infamous one called "The Prayer Warriors," and... well, the author of that one basically said, "If you don't agree with everything I say, then you're going to hell."

Yeah, I would probably bring the validity of the author's faith into question with material such as that. There are such things as false converts.

Though I get the feeling that, given what things are like in Equestria (The alicorns are practically goddesses in their own right), Twilight wouldn't necessarily fully convert, but perhaps accept that maybe, something like what the Bible describes happened elsewhere in the universe.

Actually, I think that's more of an assumption the fandom makes. Nothing is confirmed, and since we know they were born and were young at one point, I would almost consider them to simply be sustained by the magic of harmony, which would, essentially, manifest itself in that Alicorns are a hybrid of all three pony races. That may even be why they are deemed rulers over the land.

Not really sure what word would best describe that.

However, I have a headcanon in which Celestia and Luna interact and consult with God on a weekly basis, with instead of "Dear Princess Celestia," you have "Dear King (insert God-allegory-name-that-isn't-Aslan-here.)" I've always been fond of that headcanon for it's Narnia-ish-ness.

5590715 Ya better stick to it, you go PC on me and I'll start chunking books at you!

5591241
Oh, okay.
xD You can probably tell that I'm not at all, from my previous comments.
By the way, I actually have a friend who was once involved in occult worship, then became a Christian. His story's quite unique.
