As for costumes, I think Lyra, Applebloom, Rhapsody and Rumble's are obvious.
Big Mac's costume might be a bit more hard to tell.
That was a sweet start. I loved the way Lyra handled it, she really knows where to get them.

Slide Rule is Filli-second.
Cheerilee is...I'm not sure. Sort of going with a stereotypical samurai vibe.
Flash Bulb is apparently dressed up like dad.
Rarity is an obvious V.A. Joke.
Lightning Gem is a certain princess.
Hennets are the conical hats the stereotypical fairy tail princess has.
Thunderlane is Erik.
Written Script is a vampire.
Popper is Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, or whatever his pony counterpart would be named.
and Tomahawk is Star-Lord.
Mack is Jack Macheath. Who remembers the song Mack the Knife?
...this implies that an equivalent to anime, Marvel comics, Daft Punk, Japan, Disney and certain novels and plays exist.

Well, sure hope to see a bigger juicier chapter next time. These introductions are such a tease. Can't wait to learn more about the ponies in this.
This is slightly based off something that happened once.
Back in 2007, My brother, sister and I were all in the public school system, so we had a one-week break in the fall.
So we went to California.
the usual thing, Disney, Universal, Legoland...And because it was october, they all had a halloween theme going on.
at Universal they had a haunted house thing, so we went in.
One of the sections was an egyptian tomb, and one of the employees was dressed as a mummy and would pop out of the sarcophagus to scare guest.
He did this to the couple infront of me so, he skipped me. My sister was at the end, not enjoying it.
A bit later, when we're at the part that mimics the cliche haunted manor, there's a commotion behind us. The Mummy, another employee and my sister are talking and they asked my sister to leave. My aunt goes with them and the rest of us finish up the haunted house.
As it turns out, the mummy tried to pull the sarcophagus trick on my sister, but instead of screaming, she punched him in the shoulder.
the whole "Fight or flight" thing, I guess.
It's a great story.
anyway, I don't think I will be able to finish this in time for Halloween, I have atleast two more chapters to write.
One more chapter left.
Zecora's trick is based on the creepypasta The Magician's Trick.
Even though Flash Sentry is voiced by Vincent Tong, I read all of Flash's lines in Michael Rosenbaum's voice.
...Oh, and Zecora is basically Dr. Facilier while Trixie is Zantanna.

And don't tease them about being feminine, that's never nice. Just tease them how they can't fit into a size 3 instead and watch magic happen. ;3
