6436402 He said why he's changing the title Here the entire story is actually split into five books.
Well well well... Rampage is truly unkillable...
Sweet shits ahoy, what is she?
I can't wait to find out!
And Blueblood... bastard as shithead.
Good work on this! And awesome job, can't wait for more!

Thanks for keeping this in one book here, on FimFic
I am guessing struck by lightning. Cause BJ can't get anymore unlucky.
I fucking knew it!
Why would Rampage hide? She can't die, she'll feel the pain but it is not like she hasn't before. So why hide from ghouls her armor would cut up?
"thing"
Love triangles hurt.
Hmmmm, Maripony? But Maripony was the place of Twilight's I.M.P. research.
Awww gawd dammit, someone liked this story putting the total likes at "1102". Time for someone to unlike it. I find the story having "1101" likes oddly poetic for some reason.
Okay! Everyone come clean! Who sang along with Blackjack?
Also... I'm a lot more sad about Roses's death than I would've thought.
Having read all of Project Horizons over the last couple weeks, I've noticed that, in comparison to Blackjack, pretty much every action hero seems like a huge pansy. Whodathunk that horse words would be so badass?
6447636
I sang it once as i read it for the first time....
But then i went back and sang it aloud to see if i could make it work... i did. XD
6447636
Me, I grinned with what Somber & co. did with that song.
Same, even considering her past she was trying to do better and was a casualty courtesy of the Wasteland.
6444042 Actually, it IS supposed to be think.
"If you THINK you're going to get away with this, you've got another THINK coming."
The fact that a classic rock song uses 'thing' instead has no bearing on the actual phrase. It's basically the same as saying "Think again, <insert insult of choice here>."
this chapter made me squee multiple times due to the sheer intensity of the references.
This chapter was funny, heartwrenching, dark, and action-packed all at the same time!
Why does this remind me of this...
You might be overdoing them a tad, at least in this chapter, but I realize that ghouls are a very effective storytelling opportunity from the games, a way to get info about the pre-war world alongside letters, audio recordings and memory orbs, and that FoE really underutilized them. That scene with the pegasus nursemaid is a perfect example of the things you can do with them.
So Deus's backstory was a great thing to get. I did not expect Glory to be the turkey. (It was funny until I remembered where they first found her; why must the Wasteland shit on her so hard. D:) And I'm pleased that BJ gets to experience fighting without her Get-Out-of-the-Wasteland-Free card, but I'm noticing a trend of her waking up alone after getting nearly killed again and again. <.<
6747429
Noted, sir! :D
6747481 I think this was the start of Vanity becoming a favorite among the Marauders for me, but cemented more later on. (On which note: there was the not jumping into memory orbs when it would be a really inappropriate time. Yes, our characters (okay, basically just Blackjack) is learning (maybe).) But more than that, Harpica became one of my favorite side characters, in that I was always just so happy whenever she'd show up again, even if she wasn't really doing much compared to other characters in the scene. I think she might have had a similar effect on me as Sonata Dusk did on a huge portion of people.
R.I.P Roses!
Great chapter btw! :)
Love it! That damn toaster repair pony sure knows how to properly service the equipment. Even if she is not a clever pony.
I kinda thought that would be the end of rampage and she would die like steal hooves
6447636
i did. aloud at that. it was a good song.
Roses' death was really predictable, imo. As soon as I heard that the gang was heading to Chapel with Roses and Thorn, I knew that Thorn would become an orphan, because it's a Crusader base. Pretty meh. Would have been nice if the unexpected happened and everyone actually got to live for once.
Also no regret or even any much mention from Blackjack. She seemed not to care that Roses died, which I thought she would considering that Roses was trying to do better, at least.
When rampage got her head cut off i thought it wad gonns be another steelhooves
When did she get glasses? the fuq
What the fuck, the actual fuck. I thought she was a canterlot ghoul but....
PLEASE JUST LET LITTLEPIP AND BLACKJACK MEET UP!!
7808156
Dude. She survived being a pilgrim. How would a chopped off head be any worse than laser disintegration?
What a wonderful and sincere message
First the museum. Then here.
That blue invisiblity Alicorn sure does seem to like keeping tabs on her...
Homage... never change.
Must be some yummy toast from your toaster repair pony
I don't know what scares me more.
That she has so many mundane fears, even if knives.
Or that the idea of pretending to use surgery as a murder tool appeals to her more then using a knife.
Okay, hold the phone! How can a ghoul, something with no pulse, blush?
You have to have running blood to blush.
Dang! Bluey was still kicking?
Man, that guy was too chivalrous to die.
Though I never would have imagined a FoE version of him to have actual dueling skills.
I can't imagine...well actually, now I can, what it would be like to go through all this shit AND have a cold!
The thought that she might have been a good musician if not for her place in the stable...I really enjoyed that.
OMG THE PIPBUCK! A cold, naked, in the House of the Dead, AND the Pipbuck is dead. Someone really hates you Blackjack.
Another, Blackjack wakes up from near death in a situation where she has to kill her way to safey...situation. CLASSIC!
You know it's going to be good when Blackjack starts singing( the cello scene excluded). I love these parts!
Rose...
Also...it wonder how weird it would be if Rampage held aloft her own head and said. "Alas, poor Rampage! I knew her well..."
On a scale from 1 to 10.
Lewd.
that "secret super Stable" line reminded me of a scene in FE: Scootaloo rigged the Stable in Canterlot so that "the door won't open until you are all dead." but there were some Ghouls living there later when Littlepip showed up.
Why don't you get started
he’s got another thing coming (yes I read the previous comment on this, but the MLP wiki proves it is supposed to be 'thing' in reference to the Laugher song's lyrics)
though they kept it more or less to themselves.
Lacunae is following Blackjack around a lot more, at the outside of shelter, inside the manor soaking up magical radiation, looking out the window of the manor.. Also the Dealer is nowhere to be found here because of the zapped PipBuck.
RIP Roses, only Thorn remains. That bastard.. Bluebood. How the heck did the surrounding ponyfolk catch wind about the secret nobility Stable anyways?
Lilpip!
damn have a cold and still kick ass go blackjack!
Come on, Blackjack. Blueblood duels like a dandy, all light cuts and point work. He likes to play with his food, no mind for putting an opponent down quickly.
I bet that if deus came to blackjack asking for mercy she would spare him.
I wonder why blackjack. Did not try to put some of the armor pieces even if they where rusty.
How did rampage get soo intimate with that filly that there was not a single tear of her to her mom's death... Or did she prefer harpica out of her mother?
That ghoul sounded like season 1 fluttershy in the first episodes. She where kind enough to not go feral or let fillies go.
The pipbuck did not pass through a magnet, soo i guess its hard drive is fine. This was used as a blunt weapon even!
Glory must have developed a thick skin to see one of her friends laugh sing and make a lot of undead gore and not fear her
How did the team got separated inside the manor soo badly?
I feel like this is a reference to I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream.
7839708
From the slaver corpse from back when she originally met Roses (the time she smashed her horn). She's often been wearing them since then to hide her glowing eyes.
So she runs outside because she feels guilty for kiling 40 foals. Then there is a cut and this quote:
and when she goes back everything is as if she run outside to mourn and then stumble across Deus' memory orb. Can anyone explain to me what actually happened?
10036706
She was out in the rain a long time, possibly even falling asleep, but I don't think anything else really happened during that break.
Oh yes.
The references to the original while allowing for this canon.
Love. It!
This is what Blackjack did for most of her life.: Boring patrols, writing reports and the occasional training season.
Then Surprise Raider attack happened and an unprepared Blackjack who had never been in a serious gunfight before, killed several of them. Probably shouldn’t think too hard about this, but It’s a tad bit unrealistic how Blackjack almost immediately began killing Raiders and left a right, like she was in a Die Hard movie.
“Thanks for the help and all but we really don't want turrets or a security force that doesn’t run away at the first sign of danger. We enjoy the occasional gunfight in the middle of the town and feel that we should give the Radiers a sporting chance if they ever tried to attack us.”
I’m sure there are plenty of other settlements that would appreciate Blackjack’s help. Mega Mart, Brimstone Falls and Chapel come to mind.
Personally I would say the latter. Improving one place at a time. You can’t make the Wasteland vanish overnight.
Would be a pretty accurate title for this story.
Fallout Equestria: Something Always Went Wrong
Good thought Blackjack. You can’t count on P-21 always being around when you need him. And there is plenty of locked stuff in the Wasteland.
Yep that's exactly Blackjack’s way of thinking.
“If only I had/hadn’t done/known x somehow everything would’ve magically turned out perfect.”
Technically Blackjack already killed plenty of ponies, even though it was in self-defense. Blackjack also killed the children at the hospital, when they were no longer a danger to you, even thought it was a mercy kill.
Of course, that’s vastly different from executing a defenseless pony begging for mercy.
i.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/facebook/000/023/021/e02e5ffb5f980cd8262cf7f0ae00a4a9_press-x-to-doubt-memes-memesuper-la-noire-doubt-meme_419-238.jpg
Ah yes the slippery slope of evil. First you buy prisoners who were supposed to be executed anyway and sell them as slaves. You make some nice profit and probably can reassure you that he deserved it. Then you start selling starving Ponies and convincing yourself that they would’ve died otherwise. And before you know it, you’re ruining an outfit of slavers and ambush random travelers. Not even pretending you're doing something good, anymore.
This defiantly added some depth as to Rose a character. Giving us an example how an average pony could turn bad. Still, there are plenty of other Ponies who have to raise children and didn’t decided to murder and enslave others. "I have a child." is still no valid excuse.
Oh boy, here we go.
Of course, this was going to trigger Blackjack. She’s still beating herself up about having to kill the fillies. Worst possible choice for a song. Although neither Rose nor Thorn could’ve known that.
Deus was in constant agonizing pain and only a very strong drug was able to turn the horrifyingly agonizing pain into bearable agonizing pain. No wonder he was pissed all the time.
What exactly is his definition of monster? Because I haven’t seen Blackjack do something like leading an army of raiders into a settlement and let them rape and murder everypony. Ironically it wasn’t even Blackjack who killed him but P-21 and Gem. So according to his logic, would they be even more monstrous than Blackjack?
Silly Watcher, you’re just wasting your time. No matter how many times you tell Blackjack that she’s not a monster or a failure, all it takes is the inevitable next setback and she’s in a depressive mood again. Probably would be better for her mental health if she just threw the Pipbuck with the EC-1101 into the ocean and settle down somewhere.
It actually starts bothering me because it feels like a repetitive cycle: Blackjack happy – Bad thing happens – Blackjack sad – Blackjack meets Pony who makes her feel less sad – Blackjack happy- Bad thing happens - …
Alright I wanted to talk about this later when it happens, but I may as well do it now. There’s one part of the story I’m not looking forward, too. Surprisingly it’s not Blackjack’s rape, her turning into Pony Adam Jensen, Goldenblood’s role or the infamous rocket sex scene. It’s actually something a lot less controversial: Her involvement into the Goddess plotline. Admittedly I only know that she’s involved but not how big her role is. Part of me, however, is worried that it will be revealed that Littlepip could only succeed because of something Blackjack did. And that would feel wrong too me.
Hopefully that’s not going to be case, but I guess I’ll have to wait and see.
Lot of people are in constant pain but they don’t go around murdering and raping others. Sure he may’ve been Sanguine’s lapdog and being forced to do his bidding because that ghoul is the only one who can make his pain bearable. But I’m also sure that Sanguine didn’t instruct him to go around and kill as many ponies as possible. That’s was him. The Wasteland didn’t magical turned him into a monster. He himself decided to become one.
Blackjack also gets knocked out awfully lot, doesn’t she?
Hey can’t have your protagonist being trapped in a spooky mansion without a raging thunderstorm outside.
We already had an aboded hospital with (sort of) creepy ghost children tormenting ponies. Now we have an old mansion full of (sort of) zombies. Project Horizons really wants to check off all the horror genres. And I mean that as a compliment.
Makes me really wonder about this idea for a FO:E horror story Somber posted on his Patron. It think was going to be about a young colt of filly being dragged into a creepy place against his will by a bunch of mercenaries. PH does horror very well, so I would love to see how a full-blown horror fic written by Somber would turn out.
Aren’t they sapient? Guess we have another bunch of nobles who are jerks.
giantbomb1.cbsistatic.com/uploads/original/0/26/1268162-dramatic_saw.jpg
Blackjack just discovered the magic of Combo Weapons.
There’s a lot of stuff that would be pretty valuable after the apocalypse. From mundane stuff like food or medicine to powerful weapons and magic. If you know a war is about to happen and can gain control of valuable resources, you may actually be able to become a ruler after the dust has settle.
We need a Blackjack version of every FiM Song!
You would think he would’ve gotten used to Blackjack’s craziness by now.
Why is every non-feral Ghoul in this story insane? It’s not like Somber didn’t knew that sane Ghoul exist. He made Deus boss a ghoul and namedropped Ditzy.
I can buy a Non-Feral Ghoul snapping after having witnessed the end of the world. However, in this chapter we have several Non-Feral Ghouls and not a single sane one. Worse, they all suffer from the same kind of insanity. Maybe that’s how ghouls are portrayed in Kkat’s story? I don’t know, but to me it kinda ruins the idea behind them. Instead of living eye witnesses of the war, they’ve been reduced to crazies. Which feels unessesary since we already have the ferals for that.
RIP Vanity. You were a great guy and probably the only likeable one in this whole family.
So he never get over that one night?
Really what’s with this fandom and turning Blueblood into a supervillain? Chrysalis gets tons of sob stories about her sad life but the guy who was a minor jerk to Rarity gets turned into a monster on a regular base.
(Of course, there are stories out there that portray Blueblood in a more likeable way, but it seems like they are outnumber by the ones in which he’s simply evil.)
RIP Rose. I don’t think killing her of was a good call. She was a real interesting character with lots of untapped potential.
When we first met her, she was just a random slaver Blackjack spared, only for her to return several chapters later in a much bigger role. We learnt how she became a slaver and that it was gradual descended into evilness. She got a second chance, although even Blackjack realized that she probably would fall back into her old slaver habits if things got desperate enough for her. It would’ve been great to see Rose pop-up once a while struggling with her new life. Maybe she would’ve become a better pony? Maybe she would’ve become a slaver again? There was some great story telling potential.
And then she got killed by a “random side encounter”. Making Thorn just another orphaned Crusader. Talk about waste potential. And a cynical part of me can’t help but think that the only reason she died was because the unwritten rule of PH is that Blackjack can never achieve a real victory. Blackjack HAS to feel miserable, so somepony HAS to suffer or die to make it happen. Rose was both the obvious and “safe” choice, because the story isn’t killing off core party members (yet) and killing the child would be too much at this point.
Okay that’s actually pretty amazing! He just beheaded Rampage like it was nothing.
He even managed to last longer than a few seconds against Blackjack. Sure it’s Blackjack without guns and S.A.T.S. but it's impressive nonetheless.
Best pony being badass.
Ah there’s the naughty Blackjack I missed.
Time to move the goal post. Get used to it Blackjack.
Blackjack’s On-screen Body Count: 118*
*As mentioned earlier I don't include Feral Ghouls and thus only added Cookie and Blueblood who may have been completely insane but were still sapient.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it’s pretty obvious that there’s lots of stuff I didn’t like about this chapter: The endless cycle of somepony given Blackjack an uplifting talk only for her to be back being miserable within two chapters; all non-Ferals in this story being batshit insane; Blueblood being worse than
HitlerSombra and an interesting character being unceremoniously killed off for the sake of drama.Still it’s not a bad chapter. Blackjack exploring a manor full of Ghouls without and not being able to rely on S.A.T.S. was interesting. And Somber really nailed the atmosphere of the place. Still, I wouldn’t mind if the next chapter gives me less to complain about.
And so, The Crusaders earned thirteen eternal children.
Oh she's an entertainer!!! Or something...
Creepy...
I was really hoping her mom didn't die
It's a shame Rose had to die by the hooves of Prince Dickhead. At least he got what was coming.
Small comfort for Thorn though.
“He cut off your head!” I groaned.
She just looked at me with a smirk that didn’t reach her eyes. “Eh, I got better.”
i just feel it in my bones and hope that this was a VG cats reference to being aborted from time.
This is very interesting. I mean not sure how it works for ponies but instruments are almost impossible to play if you're picking them up for the first time. The only explanation is if she would have a cutie mark of musical notes or something like that. I can think of a two of explanations for this
1. She's the descendent of Octavia or someone who really good at music
2. Her cutie mark should have been music but because this is fallout Equestria cutie marks are more up to interpretation. I mean it's not like Blackjack is super good at Blackjack that she would win every round. She lost bug and won big. Maybe her cutie mark has some interpretation that makes her good at music? Or maybe her cutiemark was just affected by post fallout Equestria
Rampage this whole chapter was really funny and reminded me of this video .
Also damn Deus is reminding me of Atom Smasher from cyberpunk. Like they are both really massive cyborgs, use really colorful language and are both are evil cunts. Maybe Cyberpunk coped off Deus lol.
11633036
Cyberpunk 2020 tabletop game was a thing back in 90s.
