Fookin fantastic mate, a great little story, would love to see more, but that's your call not mine
I was always a Sparity fan, and while this story tears me up inside, the way Spike handles losing her is amazingly well-written.
I strongly disagree with Spike's comments about true love, but this is still a great story. Here's hoping we see what becomes of the little dragon.

This is one of the flimsiest story where Rarity hooks up with one of the Mane 6 and Spike is heartbroken I've ever read. Like... she says she was reluctant to engage in same sex relationships before, but because it was Applejack she accepts it. Even though there is no attraction on Rarity's end. Completely disregarding/discarding Spike, for no reason at all.
This sums it up:
No, actually that's exactly what happened. Spike tried forever, then Applejack wins automatically all of a sudden, despite there being no indication that Rarity held feelings for her or even for a mare at all, and in fact denying she was particularly into it. Spike literally didn't count in this case, he was completely disregarded. Now if there was some other sort of justification, like Rarity knowing she could never feel those feelings for him for... his age, or his species, or that his slavish servitude would never inspire her, or even that she was very much in love with Applejack, then at least there would be something. But instead it's just this very callous discarding of his feelings, and deciding that anyone BUT him is worth a shot.
Why do I get the sudden urge of feeling that Spike's letters indicate an attempt of suicide?
You said this is set after Dovahkiin, so why is Spike that upset when Twilight already made a move on him and it shows they're married in the future...
4641957 I suppose I should have clarified. The story takes place after the Grand Galloping Gala, but before the scene two hundred years in the future.

Think of the nature of the subjects in the story & keep true to who they are, 
4641965 I realize that, I just thought the kiss Twilight gave him at the Gala indicated the start of a romantic relationship between the two as they were shown married later, so why would Spike be upset about Rarijack if he was already with Twilight. I guess his romance with Twi didn't really start until MUCH later. Also that Sweetie Belle thing confused me even more.
But don't get me wrong, a little confusing as it was, it was still a good story. Just love Twi always trying to keep Spike close.

Well aside from the fact that it was never expressed that Rarity is not a lesbian to Spike. I'd say it's a good story.

So Applejack got a lady boner, kissed Rarity without permission, and then not only got away with it but also got the girl who didn't even like her, or mares, in the first place? And Rarity's doing it just because she's too nice? Wow. That's beyond messed up. And Spike just gets the "F*ck you and your feeling" boot and leaves Ponyville.
Damn. This story just leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.
