Did you check the airbags?
No comments on the sex scene for me. There is absolutely nothing I can say to add or subtract anything to that level of glorious self-indulgence. Let us begin.
There's a place in the world for the angry young man
With his working class ties and his radical plans
He refuses to bend, he refuses to crawl
and he's always at home with his back to the wall.
He's proud of the scars and the battles he's lost
He struggles and bleeds as he hangs on the cross
And he likes to be known as the angry young man.
Billy Joel has seen these people before they ever existed, because they've always been around. it is the great hope of western civilization that they go grow the fuck up before our civilization suffers irreversible damage.
Sounds horrible!
Oh.
I'm pretty sure any argument the right-wing makes is automatically invalid because a right-winger made it. No need to examine whether or not it conforms with reality, just dismiss it out of hand!
Am I doing this right?
Lets face it: this isn't the first time SJW's have completely changed the definition of a word to the point of destroying any meaning it once held.
And somewhere... Milo Yiannopoulos is smiling.

Siberian winters aren't this harsh!
But. It. HURRRRRRTS!
It's true, we're little better than generic RPG characters.
Who knew heaven was a place on earth?
I'm curious what part of the UK that Davy Jones accent comes from. I heard a guy on youtube talk like that, so there is a place in this world mass-producing that strange dialect that turns 's' into 'sh'.
For me, this strikes at the heart at what makes ponies so alluring; what gives them staying power that no other type of furry weirdness can manage. Butts. And while you can have butts with anthro and all that other furry stuff, with a pony down on all fours, swinging her tail and gyrating her hips... it's right there no matter which direction she's facing. You can't unsee it; it's burned into your subconscious forever. The only thing you can do is decide how to live the rest of your life: in constant denial or acceptance of glorious pony butt. That is all I have to say about that.
Smells like Hardees.
The Captain Kirk way is the best way; no doubt, Five Stars would agree.
We're all pretty much nerds; only some of us are distracted.
Kudos to DEL for adding his lines to the chapter. We get a clear image of a generally introverted guy over the course of a day reacting to extraordinary events with a sarcastic barrier, friendly curiosity, veiled interest in Five Stars sexually, and finally, emergence from his defensive barrier. It's very good character development presented in a short period of time.
It is strange how often disturbing and exhilarating things coincide.
It's worth noting that the German Luftwaffe was not constructed with pummeling an enemy to bits with air power the same way the U.S.A.F. was. By and large, it was a supporting unit of the army, meaning its use in Britain as a primary arm was an improvisation brought on by the presence of the Royal Navy. However heroic, and romantic, the sacrifice of those brave, few men who took to the skies was, the guys down below reaming out the Kriegsmarine in battle after battle after battle deserve just as much credit for keeping the nasty Nazis at bay.
Cannot unhear Robert Byrd ranting in front of congress about dogfighting.
Oi! Churchill! Did you see us beat the ever loving crap out of the Scharnhoerst? (sigh) Fine...
Fucking hell! Why don't actual women have these thoughts? Why does all this 'by your leave, milady,' nonsense even exist in 2015!? She's not royalty, let her open it herself!
You are now one in four women who has been raped by a feminist definition.
Favored by China as well!

IT BEGINS.
Woah! Very nice.
a great chapter. I alwats wondered how will they react to earths horses and now i know. I really enjoyed the interactions of both species and i wish there wad more like these ones
Fingers crossed for Hot Topic
So for their first week it was Lord of the Rings. Next week is Star Wars, right?
Excellent chapter. After all of that foreplay - from meeting humans until the last of the erotic scene - it would have been nice to have that scene complete. But even with that thought, I enjoyed this chapter the most out of all of them.
Different opinions!? What a horrible thing.
Wonder how many other humans in that group had a close encounter with an Equestrian.

It's a good start, but doesn't go far enough. See, you can also apply that logic to fox news, christians, or any white male who says something you don't approve of. Just call it "Faux News", "Patriarchy" or "Privilege" and you're set. If they complain, just shut them down by saying repeating those three words over and over and remember that you're the tolerant one!
'Tolerance' foremost among them.
Well, it couldn't have hurt her too badly if she liked it! And if it hurt, why would cats do it?
Belinda Carlisle?
Well, Shaun certainly accepted it... and discovered how wonderfully grope-able it all was.
I literally have not been to one in years...
To quote the marines in Feathered Heart... peace through booty calls!
By pony butt?
Yeah, I'm really glad he came in on this chapter. I initially had Shaun acting much more uncertain, but he partially rewrote the scenes and made him WAY better. Shaun is his character, so he knows him in ways that I, just being a reader of Changeling Roun do not. However, the choice of song was mine, and I think it suits him and the scene to a tee.
Not that strange. People like the rush getting or at least feeling close to danger brings. That's why you get so many thrillseekers... like Richard?
The point about their operating philosophy being different is taken, but I wouldn't say they were being reamed. The Germans had their U-boats and they were wreaking havoc on allied shipping, threatening to starve Britain into surrender. And that's not to say the German surface navy didn't have some successes; e.g. the Bismarck sinking the HMS Hood. http://www.hmshood.com/history/denmarkstrait/bismarck1.htm
Before they could even consider launching Sea Lion, they had to establish air superiority over the channel and landing beaches, and that was on paper within their capabilities given the short distance of England from occupied Europe. Once that happened, the Royal Navy could be dealt with, particularly if you took Gibraltar and brought the Italian fleet around from the Mediterranean to help. The use of radar and iconic Supermarine Spitfire, superior in performance if not range to the top German fighter, the Messerschmitt Bf 109, denied them that chance, though the Germans also made a tactical mistake in not making the radar installations their primary targets at the start. Bombing raids would have become much less costly if they had and they could have then moved on to the RAF airfields, forcing them to fly from further back.
I don't have a problem with chivalry, as long as it's a two-way street. It was supposed to make demands and set standards of behavior for both sides, not just men.
Or in the immortal words of Heath Ledger's joker...

Thanks!

If you want to see how Twilight reacts to seeing a horse for the first time, check out one of my other stories, The Lawyer and The Unicorn at some point. Not every day you see a Phoenix Wright/Twilight Sparkle shipfic!
6584336
Nice! If you listen to them, it IS a horror! You can't challenge their opinions or disturb their worldviews or you're engaging in 'hate speech', 'offending' or otherwise 'triggering' them. I wish I was exaggerating. I'm not. And these people have sway right now.
As for Hot Topic... sorry to be coy, but we will see. I don't know that Twilight brought any more movies over... but that's not to say that people don't have movies on their smartphones or tablets they could hook up and show. Star Wars might not be high on the list, but there'd probably be some Harry Potter shown.
6584562
Thanks! I considered it, even started to write further but in the end I was thought it was anticlimactic to go on (pun intended but the point still holds) and it felt like a natural breakpoint. Don't worry, there is plenty more between these two to come!
6584624
Probably zero. Or if they had, it was try to convince them that they were impressionable ponies being oppressed and corrupted by humanity. These people really are that insular and clueless. They live in their own world and consider any attempt to disturb it a trigger to be screamed bloody murder over.
6585563
It's in my head too, so we'll suffer together if that's the case. I originally was going to have her listen to something like Ode to Joy or something classical, but decided that was just too cliche and didn't suit Shaun at all. What would he listen to? And knowing that he likes the push the envelope a bit, what would he show her that would blow her away? Bingo!
6585909
You win!
I'm sure we can all agree on one thing: she knows what to do with that big, fat butt.
lh6.googleusercontent.com/-im4_6J-LWLA/U31YakUnreI/AAAAAAAAld4/MQqYoMzHg_w/w800-h800/Jason+Derulo+-+Wiggle+feat.+Snoop+Dogg+%28Official+HD+Music+Video%29+054.jpg
Quite true!
Operation Weserübung was a disaster of epic proportion for the German surface fleet. In fact, outside of the sinking of the Hood and HMS Glorious, the surface war was one humiliation after another for them. Graf Spee scuttling themselves on the river Plate because they were too scared to fight... Scharnhorst repeatedly being chased off the hunt for supply ships by ancient WW1 battleships... Tirpitz's inability to do anything whatsoever of value... Gneisenau only fared better than her sister Scharnhorst by not being sunk. It was seven different flavors of awful.
The U-Boat threat was one that the allies couldn't handle with surface ships alone and required cunning, technological advancements, and cooperation between Navy and Air Force to finally end that nightmare.
With all that said, without a surface fleet, the Royal Navy forced upon Germany a route through the skies; a topic of much debate about how success might have even been achieved. Personally, I would have focused on destroying everything of value around the radar sites and then went for the airfields.
For me the bottom line is this: would you do the same thing for a man? If yes, then do it. If you're doing it simply because she's a woman, then you're treating her as weak and ultimately being insulting as a result.
6586005
My bad, my statement didn't flow together. Outside John, who else got some tail in that first group of humans?
6586005 Y'know, I think I'm a bit too emotionally invested in a character with little to no impact on the overall story. On the other hand, good luck, Hot Topic!
6586005 Im surprice they didnt actually see star wars
Hah, that was a great trap. No violence, no communication, just a quarter of a day's worth of moral face-slapping. Although I have to say I'm not impressed with their decision to repay for the destroyed "lifelines" of these idiots - they were trespassing, they're already lucky enough to escape with their lives, their limbs intact, and lawsuit-free. They have enough free time to keep thinking up all the bullshit in their heads, they can EASILY use it to work off the price of a brand spanking new enthralling gadget of their choice.
The first portion of human on pony of this story... I'm gonna swim against the tide and say my honest opinion: it was anticlimactic as hell. Likely because Five Stars tells it so superficially, or because she and John only had on-screen contact a few times, or because there was little to no conflict in the interests of both parties as a whole, but yeah. The clop section was a lot more bland and lacking detail compared to the pony on pony scenes from before, like this wasn't a rutting between two ENTIRELY new species but rather two actors just following a script - it should have been reasonably awkward for both, as Five never bedded a bipedal male, and likewise for John with a quadruped. The worldbuilding was the best part of this, not the sex.
This and the previous chapter were the ones I enjoyed the least. Fic's still good, and I have good expectations for the finale, but it is what it is – everything has its lower points.
6587133
Glad you enjoyed the worldbuilding and enjoyed the trap! The offer to replace their cellphones was actually more to rub their faces in the fact that their attacks have backfired in that they're only getting more support now, but yeah. Trust me, I'm sure they wanted nothing more than to throw that entire group to the timberwolves.
However, I'll have to disagree with you on the clop. There's something you're overlooking here--they haven't actually rutted yet. They haven't done anything that would be 'reasonably awkward', it's all been foreplay to this point. I actually did write more of what happened afterwards, but I made the choice to end it here because it felt like going on *would* be anticlimactic since I'd have to back it off and then build up the tension again.
The point of the chapter was introduce 'John' and the rest of humanity to Five Stars, show how they got together for the first time. I could easily write twenty chapters on those two alone if I wanted, but I have to keep to the article format. I hit the high points, and I think there were some real ones, especially thanks to DEL. The next chapter will have considerably more clop, and some of what you were specifically looking for will show up in it.
6587450 Wha? So for you, oral sex doesn't count as clop? I do count that as rutting - limiting the term to "penetration only" seems so small-minded.
And that really doesn't justify the "actors on a script" criticism I left. Even if it wasn't much by your standards, what erotic content we had here felt really mechanical, lacking spirit, even because it was the first time a male ever went down on Five. I was expecting a much greater highlight on that ground-breaking event than you put up, which ended up reading as just a part of the sex.
Picture a shrug here; it's how I feel. From what you're telling me, it seems like you were so intimidated by the idea of cutting off the action for the next chapter that you reserved the brunt of it to make it an interesting read, but you went overboard and it detracted from this one.
Perfect in every way.

6586055
You'll find out.
6586070
Good! That means the subplot is working!
6586871
I'd think Twilight chose the inaugural movie very carefully based on how well ponies could connect and relate to it. She wanted something that would showcase human society and creativity, and a sword-and-sorcery epic is what she went with. I don't think Star Wars, even if she saw it, would fit the bill for her. I'd think Star Wars is a little too out there for non-technological ponies; you'd be dealing with guns and lasers and things more likely to scare than entertain.
6593607 Fair points. But i wonder how will they react if they saw it as the movie is around 30 years old
6593607 What about 2001: A Space Odyssey? Do you think that would also be a good pick, though in a different sense?
i can't wait for a side story where twilight has interviews with all ponies at the party and ask them what have happend afterwards.
with a chalk board in the background where she makes a tally sheet
6600416
You double-posted your comment. I deleted the second one.
Well, somehow I don't think she'll be doing that, but Five Stars is definitely not the only one getting some action right now. You'll learn more in due course.
6596405
2001? Eh... I'd have to say no. That's not an easy movie to relate to, and quite frankly I found it a little depressing. Stanley Kubrick probably isn't the best choice of moviemaker to go with first, either.
6594919
Star Wars is nearly 40 years old (released in 1977), unless you're counting the special editions with updated effects and additional scenes which were released twenty years later. Like I said, I just don't think the average pony would understand or relate to it as a first movie, and that's what's key here. You could probably show it to them later when they were more acclimated to humanity.
What other movies could be shown? Hmmm... off my shelf, I'd probably go with some animation. Things like Frozen, Harry Potter (though I'm sure Twilight would do nothing but grouse at all the ways the movie portrayed magic wrong), and if I really wanted to showcase human war stories, I might go with superhero stuff like Iron Man (Blueblood apparently became a huge fan!) or Captain America instead of the grittier tales. I might--might--show Five Stars a movie like 300 after a year or two, because she'd be used to the violence of human movies and would probably like all the buff males.
6603872 oh sorry about the double post >__< but sound good to read more about this first week and how it went for others...
well about movie selection .... 300 would end somewhere in the adult corner for grown mares.
what about movies like pocahontas or avatar ? showing that humanity allready knows the dangers of what is about to happen to both worlds ?
6603872 Yeah al valid. Still way in the future i can see them enjoying alot of films(maybe exept the slasher films but good all universal monster flicks).
Also i have a question. I dont remember which story but i think it was the original Gentleman for Mares is something to do with Lyra and an article or interview about her experiance with a human, will you ad a mention of it?
Dangit, I completely let this chapter fall to the wayside, I was so busy the past couple weeks.
That intro letter. Oh, the sweet, sweeeeeeet satisfaction. God only knows that there are a few choice groups that need treatment like that that I would be all-too-happy to provide.
The rest of this was great too. I absolutely love "first contact" stuff like this.
And of course, what happened later at Five Star's house.
Hmm...this "John" character...he's Shaun from Changeling Roun, isn't he?
6625997
Given DEL came and wrote a lot his dialogue and interactions with Five Stars in this chapter, I'd say there's a fair chance. Glad you enjoyed!
Finished reading and don't have much to say about it, so here is a short good/bad list.
+Great writing.
+Great overall moral.
+Impressive world building.
+You could feel a lot of effort was put into this.
-Obvious author manipulation. (Pushing too much his own taste in music, history, etc, to the reader and characters)
-Felt uninteresting at times.
-A lack of Gentlemen (so far).
Overall pretty great story, the bad list was pretty much only nitpicks. I want to give it higher praise because I loved the moral, but I feel abit cheated with so little Gentlemen interaction in a Gentleman story.
6635943
Glad you enjoyed and thank you for taking the time to review! I'll push back on one point:
I'd note it's a little hard to have Gentlemen interaction when most of the story happens long before humanity and Gentleman are present. She's detailing the reasons why Gentleman are necessary through her backstory and how she got to where she is now--how she came to be associated with and train them. I've tried to bring them in indirectly through the Q&A sessions and stories she's told, but it's only here at chapter 20 that humanity has finally arrived in Equestria. To this point, it's been less about Gentlemen than the Gentlemanverse, though that will change towards the end of the story.
As for author manipulation... guilty as charged. I'm writing this story as much for myself as for others, and yes, that means that some of my tastes will leak in. I'm also not above referencing other works I've written or been involved with. If I've pushed it too far in places, apologies. As for uninteresting in places, I can think of a couple chapters I could probably tighten up and probably will eventually.
Thanks for the feedback!
6764480
Welcome, sir! Plenty of goodies ahead...
now this is how to truly make love between too beings.
a perfect chapter.
6857776
There was indeed. I can highly recommend Feathered Heart by Demon Eyes Laharl, another Gentlemanverse story. It's a crossover war thriller involving the griffins attacked by an ancient enemy during the first visit of humans to their kingdom, on a diplomatic mission that includes a company of US Marines. It's still in progress but very compelling and canon to the Gentlemanverse.
I cant believe we are so close to the end of this fic, I really enjoy every part of it, I think the part I like the most is the quotes from the newspaper's editors on both side of the portal, there should be an entire story focused on them and their daily strugle with their bigoted oponents.
6906934 My favorite parts are the Five Stars x Braeburn and Five Stars x Minuette stuff — particularly the latter, given my bent towards F/F. Of the two, the Braeburn stuff does stand the test of time as Firesight's best 'seductive banter' sequence. You gotta lay your game down flat when it comes to seducing a gay stallion, and the writing backs this challenge up. It's the moment she really lives up to her reputation as the stallion's mare.
That said, there's always something to be said for a mare picking up another mare in a bar. I dunno why, it just speaks to me.
just wondering when you will be coming back to this super good story.???
6966776
Glad to know it's missed! Probably in a month or so. I want to finish both UtM and TLaTU before I come back and then finish this. My priority right now is on finishing existing stories; I'm saving this for last because it's got the most chapters left. Ironic that my first story will be my longest and last to finish of the three.
I can agree with that.
I was just wondering as this story defiantly has a long ways to go.
6967788
A letter...

Most chapters left!?
Oh man my heart can't take this level of anticipation!
Sabaton! W0000000000TTTTTTTT!! Nerdiness - the best way to make interdimensional greetings.
