My only complaint is that this story will be ending too soon. I want to see more. And given some of the characters you've created for it, how their stories go would be nice to read too.
This chapter hit me more personally than the others with the SJW protests in the beginning. My younger sister and I had a rather long...discussion about some things, and she's one of those "enlightened" college students. So yeah...
Am I the only one wishing for a happy ending for Hot Topic? I know her part in this story is relativly minor, but still...
Your pink text for Cadence's interjection didn't show. So there is no transition between Five Stars talking and Cadence talking to her.

Fixed, and apologies.
I knew Five was at risk of becoming a bottle-hugger. Good to know she dropped her ways of the junkie for a growth in maturity. In-story, she's starting to seem like an actual adult now.
So, you opted for human contact before Tirek's nation-wide drain raid? Well pinch me with a crane, this promises to become a radical point of divergence from the tattered remains of canon!MLP still present in this 'verse.
A woman's right to choose goes only as far as SJW's say it does. Never forget that, female readers.
They brought in Big Red from Toronto as a battering ram!
The right to free speech doesn't mean I have to listen to your bullshit.
Can you even imagine an SJW without an internet connection? I can and it's a far better world where people care about important things instead of bogus statistics and meaningless sophistry.
She sounds like a real sweetheart. Take note, patriarchal oppressor: you could be fighting for this woman's honor and gaining her favor! Lord knows, her honor never meant much to her.
To the uninitiated out there: Firesight isn't overdoing it to be an ass. These people really do talk like this! Hell, he's actually downplaying it to an extent. I really don't want to paint an entire group as horrible, but SJWs are truly one of, if not the, most deplorable, the most pathetic group of people to ever walk the face of the earth. I'm sorry, it's true. The concept of patriarchy and all the assorted bafflegab that goes along with it based on a pack of lies. The 20% of all women will suffer sexual violence (in the U.S.), the wage gap, and all that other stuff... bogus. Rant over.
Life is full is full of mistakes; the most tragic of which are the ones we don't learn from.
[Wraps mouth in duct tape]
[Removes duct tape] Ow! I mean, d'aaaaaaaaaaaaaw!
You settled, Five Stars; I'm sorry to be the one to break it to you.
The Battle of Stalingrad cost two million lives by itself. One million deaths is nothing compared to what we can do. We're best off with a system of global trade that alleviates the need to conquer others, in my humble opinion.
Ponies, lets just clear up one thing: we don't actually have sex through the peehole in our trousers. That was just a Chappelle skit! I swear white dudes aren't that lame!
I don't think they're buying it...
But seriously, it's nice to know the ponies have their own corrupt media to deal with. I look forward to the next chapter with much anticipation!
6498117
Awww... thanks! There will be a side story or two. I know I keep saying that, but there will be.
6498130
My sincere apologies. Once they're indoctrinated into that world it's very hard to get them out. If you try, you're just part of the patriarchy and asserting your privilege, after all. My sincere hope is that the movement has peaked and as time goes on they'll piss off enough people to have their support and influence be reduced the fringe crowd they truly are. Few but them truly believe this garbage, but they've got sway right now due to political correctness and the current political climate.
6498174
Five Stars has binged before, but never like this. This was the first time it really got her in trouble, where she used drink as a means of escape. I haven't actually decided yet whether she drinks again now, if in moderation.
It had originally been my plan to do a Tirek chapter first, but there's a reason I didn't. Sorry, I can't say more.
6498236
The problem is, they say it's absolute and should be government-funded, and if you fight that, you're anti-woman. They've used such scare tactics to good effect in previous elections.
And there's also no right to not be offended by speech, else all you have to do to silence speech is deem it offensive.
Deprived of their umbilical cord, they'd shrivel up and die!
Deprive them of their echo chamber and people to whine to, perhaps they'd finally start to see differently. Maybe some would.
I wish I was kidding, believe me. I'm not. This really happens. This stuff it out there, and is actively taught by self-described feminists and social justice warriors to others.
The most tragic of which are the ones we try to blame on others and wreck their lives in the process. And in the final analysis, that's what these people encourage others to do.
That's two million casualties, not two million lives. But point otherwise taken. Far better we compete in economic arenas then a military one.
In the final analysis, they're just as fickle and agenda-driven as ours is. And believe me, the New York Times is about the last paper I'd go to for coverage about an event like this.
I understand why she would skip it and I understand why you skipped it, Firesight. Still, I mourn for its loss. I just know the amazing chapter that could have been with you digging deep into topics like alcoholism/addiction, denial, and more hard lessons for Five Stars. Misery loves company, I suppose.
A great read as always though and looking forward to #20!
Does this correspond to real-life in any meaningful way?
Admitting this about herself while being the focused target of intolerance and judgment really exemplifies her maturity and emotional self-awareness. /Five_Star_Fanboying
6498740
I'd also like to know that.
6498314 I myself personally hope she won't. There are other ways to unwind other than recreational drugs of any kind, and all rehabilitated alcoholics I know of say that the booze, no matter the amount, has a siren's call that is HARD to ignore, and utterly inescapable once they've put the smallest bit in their mouths. If Five is afraid of throwing her life away to become a wino again and hurting others while at it, she'll avoid the drink.
I'll be expecting the surprise with great anticipation, then. Tirek drama is always a hoot, and you handle drama well from everything I've seen.
Now excuse me while I go back to The Hunt for the Red October. I haven't read a book this gripping in ages.
Excellent chapter! The topical issues of third-wave feminism and out of control PC culture has certainly added a very true to life quality to the story.
I'm also really happy that you chose to bring my "angry mother" Q&A letter to a satisfying conclusion. Believe it or not, the son's response letter was actually something that I was considering pitching to you, but didn't want to for fear that it would look as though I were trying to latch onto another author's story.
It's actually kind of Funny because, pretty much everything he said was more or less what I had envisioned him saying, from thanking Five Stars for her support to giving the happy news of his marriage to his Mare. I hadn't thought of them adopting a foal so that was a very nice surprise. The fact that the little filly was a thestral made it even better.
So thank you both Firesight and Haseo55 for expanding further on my letter and giving both human and pony a happy ending.
You guys are awesome!
Looking forward to the final chapter!
And so, we begin to come full circle.
Huh...I thought I remember seeing Five Stars in a cameo in vicinity of Phoenix Wright in Turnabout Storm. I could be wrong, though. *shrug*
Oh no, by all means, PLEASE do continue.
6499533
You remember correctly. She had a cameo in the last full chapter just as Phoenix and co. were departing. No promises she won't appear again in TLaTU or its sequels, either, though that's an AU to this. If she does appear, she'll have her personality, but a slightly different purpose and story. It's just my way of at least loosely linking my works.
6499110
You're very welcome! Hope you enjoyed the shout-out to Honeydew, too...
6498845
Put it this way--I wrote this latest chapter from scratch in just three days, except for the two letters. I have gotten very prolific of late, so yes, I am going to try to wrap up the story by year's end. Current projection is around 24 total chapters. And afterwards? Sequel and side stories.
Hunt for Red October is a classic.
Yeah, Delta is, in my eyes, an example of 'Beware the Nice Ones'. She's normally very kind and caring, but if you get on her bad side... well, nothing's confirmed, but ponies who anger her or offend her sensibilities tend to 'disappear'...
6499570
Oh geez! I completely missed that one! Thank you!
So take it you are not a fan of Fury Belle?
I liked the small details you did on the letter. Also i didnt expect for Five starts to sink that low but im glad she made it. Still i want to see her interaction with humans, also maybe of her speaking of some movies, as you mentioned she liked the lord of the rings, also maybe star wars, the expendables(you know she likes them XD) or maybe some dramas.
Also the weekly thing, its just five starts talking or are you actually posting one update a week
6498845
I would suggest the other books Clancy has written in that same vein, I am currently reading Executive Orders, and will follow that up with The Bear and The Dragon
6499729
You're welcome!
6499844
Had to look that up. Based on what little I saw, I'm pretty sure the answer is no.
6499946
You're welcome! Check down a little further in the comments and you'll see a thank-you for the letter from Ponybody245 as well.
You'll get to see her interacting with humans very shortly! Movies and music will certainly be touched on, though I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be making The Expendables the first thing they show pony audiences! I'd imagine she'd have a guilty pleasure about watching movies like 300, though.
There will be more frequent updates as I've decided to put a push on to finish this story. Probably won't be once a week, but it will be more frequent. From Five Stars perspective, there's a reason she wants her articles done in plenty of time for the winter holidays. The reason is that she's got plans for them... plans that will be the subject of this story's eventual sequel.
6499646
I didn't think it was that extreme! I was thinking more along the lines of very odd and embarrassing instances bad luck befalling them... but yes, you don't want to piss her off. I don't have to tell *you* there's a reason she holds the post she does.
6500082 Okay, ponies who tick her off or offend her sensibilities tend to have very unfortunate accidents, usually quite public and humiliating, and they promptly disappear to go live as hermits.
Ponies who commit crimes against the Crowns or Equestria, however...
6500074 He also send me a message on my user page. I think hard core action movies and horror one wont be seen as really good, i also see Luna blaming alot of theaters if they show movies like friday the 13 or nightmare on elm street because of the constat nightmares.
Films that defined cinematography. From the silent era Nosferatu and the phantom of the opera come to mind, the clasic universal monster movies, disney movies, star wars, indiana jones(already showed in one story, but it would be insteresting if they release Indiana Jones and Daring Do in some adventures but dear old harrisi¿ond ford would be to old)
6500074 I find that Tumblr humorous because I believe Equestria is a maternal society.
6500072 I plan on going from this to either Clear and Present Danger or Rainbow Six. I wish I had The Cardinal of the Kremlin for a direct sequel.
6502378
Worth the read when you get it
We're ugly!? Aw man.
6500095 To the moon, Alice!
This was an interesting chapter in a particular way, at least to me. It stated, and quite correctly I might add, that some college kids tend to think that simply by virtue of being a college student, that their own personal brand of intellectualism is infallible. The truth is that they are often the most impressionable and easy to manipulate. I'm a graduate myself and am guilty of what I just mentioned to a certain degree but not to the point of violent protests. The point is that I was able to identify with the chapter and add such, bravo for another great installment.
With reading things like this, Im wondering what blatent attacks and outbursts are going to occur as Watsons are used to not onloy profile arguments and reach legal settlements, but because of the way the code is created and handled, it can show its working out, such as, so and so an argumentative position is only possible if the person is, coerced, insane, evil lying bh.
Good news. Recently it has been announced that a psychological profiling questionaire has been created that has a Very high accuracy of determining just how much of an innate liar a given person is.
Still confuses me though. politicians by definition have to lie. They cant tell the truth about security setups and such like, but that means those in it to abuse the system cant be taken to task either. So they say politicians dont lie. Ok, so about those overseas trade agreements and accounts then?
Looking into the mirror, most people prefer to wear shades. Me, Im very short sighted.
Long may the story continue, even after its completed.
6527647 ... Sir/Madam (select appropriate), just what fanfic do you think you're reading?
6528373
Im very sorry for any offence or confusion. I honestly didnt mean to, apparently Ive been reading too quickly for my somewhat simple mind to create a coherent world to be able to reply in. I dont know why, the effect seems to be totally random. At least, I havent been able to work out a pattern yet.
My apologies.
6527647 I had no idea people wrote comments using automated computer programs.
6498373
The New York Times? I'd rather have gone to The Onion back when they were still putting out dead-tree copies for news like that. Mainly because I knew what I'd be reading was satire...
