This could make a very interesting story.
Yay, an update!
Such a Q/A session was quite 'immersive', and to tell the truth, It's the first time I've seen a Q/A in any fanfic! And you executed it quite well.
And the wait for the next chapter's gonna be the longest six weeks I've ever experienced
Also, can you please tell me (or PM me) about your book? What's that about, etc...
just read through the whole thing and i have to say its awesome i can't believe this doesn't have way more favorites
I have grown to love this story and I hope to see more of it with all my heart
Great chapter, and an excellent way of crossing over with the original Gentleman for Mares story by including a letter from both Sea Swirl and Rarity. I'm really looking forward to the chapter when Five Stars finally meets her first human.
Wowo, another weeell written chapter of a weeeell written story, and even you mentioned part of ¨Changeling Roan¨; anyway, it's a little sad that you will stop writing this for a while, but nontheles I'll wait what's neccesary, thanks for the chapter and good luck in life¡¡

You're right. And if I'm feeling exceptionally ambitious at some point, I may try to write it.

Appreciate the compliments! Sorry to make you wait, but I think DEL is right when he said that working two writing projects at once is the limit. My two have been this and Turnabout Storm, while my novel has languished. Time to rectify that. I'll PM you separately.

Thanks, both of you. Trying to get more readers for this has been a constant source of frustration to me. It's been a slow climb, needless to say. But I'm a first-time author, so I can't expect everyone will just flock in... all I ask is that if you like it, you share it with others. Word-of-mouth seems to be the best tool I've got.

Humans are still a few chapters off. Glad you enjoyed the references to the main G4M storyline! If you like, I might even throw in a reference to Honeydew and City by the Bay at some point. I'm a fan of your story as well.

Thanks.

That would be awesome!
I would like to see that very much!
celestia and luna, why do we have to wait now so long >__< o please make Firesight return soon to us with new reading material !!
Ok. Got it... the S.S initials. how could i have forgotten
Easy for a member of a "bleeding heart" species (emphasis on the quotation marks, this is merely a comparison and not an attempt to provoke lovely Miss Five or any other ponies) to say she abhors our capabilities for violence. Violence is EXACTLY what kept us alive without Harmony in a world where big dogs eat small dogs, see. You don't have an apex predator that didn't earn the rank without blood, sweat, blood, tears and more blood.
Not that I condone war or slaughter or hatred outside of media, I certainly don't. We hate it ourselves. But you have to face it that Homo Sapiens isn't a bunch of castrated sheep. Conflicts and violent tension are just natural, as natural as ponies singing full musicals outta nowhere because their Harmony is synchronized. Neither of our species let it rule our lives fully, but those aspects are there and they are undeniable.
Besides, war gave us medicine, it gave us the transistor and the microchip and the Internet, and was what prompted us to really discover space, along with MANY other benefits. It's a dim silver lining, but ignoring it is entirely ignorant, and Five Stars isn't a dumb person.
I hope she understands that.
P.S.: The Griffons who fought the Cloven of the Sun's most recent rise would disagree with the negative views on our ability to fight and utterly destroy our enemies...
Vegeta! What does the scanner say about this chapter's logic levels?
IT'S OVER 9,000!
Seriously, the Vulcans would be proud.
I seem to forget a certain key event that must have taken place, so could someone please tell me exactly what happened to AJ to turn her off to G4M or to at least point me at the correct story that gives the answer? Was it something that Harry did? I can't ever remember a time she wasn't icy towards him.
Finally, I get to the filler! Well, it's filler in the Twinkie sense...
I don't think it's all that clever really. It comes down to harnessing the efforts of people towards a shared goal between government and their own base needs. Or as Gawdyna Grimfeathers from Fallout Equestria put it:
"I don’t trust in luck. “I prefer t’ count on people being greedy. Tends t’ work much better.”
Now there is a leader of men... And ponies. Gawdyna 2016!

The Gentlemanverse, unofficially sponsored by LOTR! Ode to Joy is such an awesome song, Germany uses it in Civilization 5 to represent their nation. High praise indeed!
I might actually piss some people off here, but being born out of wedlock is a pretty awful thing statistically. You have a greater chance for being a criminal, being poor, and altogether deviant. Single-parent households also tend to be mother and children so massive amounts of welfare are devoured by this poor, uneducated, and largely unproductive family arrangement. That said, a child shouldn't be punished for something they can't control — which is precisely Five Stars' point. I just feel a line needs to be drawn between single-parent and both-parent households; the two are not one in the same no matter what someone's precious "fee-fees" might dictate to them.
Not a problem at all. In fact, I wish more men were gay or would come out so it wouldn't be considered novel. I hate it when a group of people, any group of people, can claim novelty or protection because of a trivial distinction. I'm looking at you, SJWs...
You call it 'violent', we call it "peace through superior firepower".
You aren't missing much in my case, darling! There's a complex answer to the one but... hell if I know! Blame it on 'culture', I guess.
This is a deeper and more interesting topic than I can dive into here. The interesting part about this is the dichotomy as it applies to men more than women, and yet it's far more important that the woman remain an active participant in the breeding game than men — in a civilization facing attrition, which is humanity throughout 99.99999999999% of its history. Short answer is that men are their own worst enemy.
Ahh traditionalism... the opposite side of the gynocentric coin that has recently been cast down in favor of the direct subjugation of men via feminism. It's funny, I'd actually advocate abstinence among men for the exact opposite reason as Five Stars is suggesting here. The sad truth, Five Stars, is that your men are gelded as soon as they participate in reproduction. Either way you're just a pack horse. At the very least, a traditionalist gets an "atta boy" or a well-meaning pat on the back for working themselves into an early grave. Under our current system, he just gets called a shitlord, whether he does well or not.
I'm very curious, where is Five Stars coming from here? I don't understand her point.
So many different possible ways to respond to this point! I'll settle for pointing out that female hypergamy doesn't ever reach a satiation point. She will always, always, always want more. Feminists promise women more through the courts and through government assistance and so men must always compete with the affections of his wife with the government in a welfare state. Think I'm wrong? I'd ask how it is then that all these crazy wealth redistribution programs pass time and time again if only a handful of women are feminist? The answer is obvious; women back what they see as their own self-interests, and comprise the largest majority of voters.
The remainer of her points are simple examples of tribalism. If you think about it, a nation is just a larger tribe and so I'd call it the natural state of humanity to exist this way, albeit I prefer to exist through the "soft power" of trade instead of the barbarism of conquest. Why kill your neighbor for his pomegranate when you can trade him an apple instead?
Read A Gentleman in Training by Denim_Blue for more details. He really thought it out well! Hell, if he gets over 100 likes, he might start writing it again.
The AJ Aficionado response:
Okay Buzzfeed, calm down! There is at least a kernel of truth in there; men would absolutely give it up for a sapient, pastel-colored talking horse if given the chance because they aren't the sexual predators society has deemed them to be. Men desperately crave an equal to share their lives with, not some air-headed bimbo they can "pump and dump". That is a stupid trope that only applies to men with raging insecurity issues.
That slight against Five Stars for having four legs is in poor taste.
I admire this guy's balls, but that was a dumbass question!
We were never yours to begin with, tyrant!
I admire Five Stars' honesty here.
Well said!
A moment of silence for the story that wasn't. Someone actually wrote this story and it was removed from the site after negative feedback. I still feel like this would make a good story as well, though I wouldn't do the idea justice.
Rarity is a great canon fit in this universe!
Yeah, humans, have fucked up A LOT in the past and will likely to continue fucking up for all time.
Wow...! I'm loving this story more and more! Love your work, man! I hope there are side stories to those letters in the future!

Thanks again! There are plans for a side story, but it remains to be seen whether I’ll ever actually get to it with everything else going on.
I'm going to assume that when you say this is your First story, you really mean 'first story on this site', because it's hard to belive that you write with this quality without a lot of practice.

Firesight had been writing for about ten years by the time he wrote this if memory serves.
