You did a great job for a 1k fic for sure! And I agree with you, I like it best when it's humanized--cross species doesn't work as well. Though I don't mind the age gap as much--I usually ballpark on them having about ten years of separation. Regardless, nice work! You could probably continue this, or write something in a similar style quite easily.
My only complaint is that it's rather short.
Spike was unsure of weather a second or a century had passed when Rarity pulled away.
Should be whether.
I enjoyed this short story. My only grip was, well, it was too short.

I've never liked Sparity, but this is adorable.
Excellent work, little short for my taste, but excellent work all the same. The only real constructive criticism I can give you is that you should always, always describe your characters when they first appear.

2815538 Yeah, the cross-species always throws me off too. I personally see Rarity as the oldest of the group anyway, and as such she would be about ten years older than Spike, but I thought that, for this story, it would be best to shorten the gap between them. As for a similar story...we'll see.

2817095 Thank you! I hated Sparity for a long time, and now I'm a little unsure of where I stand with it, but I've read a few stories that helped change that opinion. This author has some really good Sparity stories.
2817101 Oh, oops. I know I should do that, but the thought honestly didn't even cross my mind for this one. If you would indulge me, do you have any tips on how to do so without interrupting the flow of the story. I don't just wanna be in the middle of something and the say 'He had green hair and emerald eyes and dark skin' you know? I normally try to do it a little at a time, but detail has never been my strong point.

2817288 It depends largely on the scene and situation but for Spike seeing Rarity in a romantic light like in the story you can have it so that he's admiring her features.

For me personally I really don't like Sparity for the main reason that if she knew than she should tell him if she is interested or not instead of leading him on. Though I am willing to put my hatred aside if the story is good enough. And this is one of those cases.

more clopand more chapters to come :-DMy headcanon IS that Rarity is a year older than Twilight who is 5 years older than Spike making the subject pair 6 years apart. With Spike at 20 years of age, it really isn't a big deal.

Cute story. I'm not huge on Sparity, but it's short and sweet enough of a story that my opinions of shipping are simply ignored, and instead, I read because it's good. An enjoyable piece for someone who just wants something quick to read.
