After being tasked with making a friend by Twilight Sparkle, Tempest is distracted by Songbird's amazing show and goes to compliment her on it.

I wrote this fic after telling my artist friend that if she drew a Tempest x Songbird image(this stories cover image), I'd write a fic for it. She held up her end, so I held up mine. Hope you guys enjoy :)

In the aftermath of the Storm King's power play, Tempest Shadow finds herself at a crossroads once again. She hasn't been banished, but no party can change the festering feeling of being out of place. Exploring the caves underneath Canterlot, she stumbles upon an odd, crimson shard, and a spirit of a lost king who promises to mend her broken horn—and while he's at it, to help her get her old life back.

When you've been using that front wheel drive rental for a year straight, one that barely makes 80HP, having to deal with the rental costs, you get sick of it.

Tempest Shadow has been driving such a rental into the ground and decides it would be cheaper to shell out some bits for a properly reliable car. She's heard a lot about a technology called VTEC, so maybe she'll get something with that. Sounds interesting.

On Hearth's Warming Day, Tartarus is not a fun place to be. Holiday joy does not permeate Equestria's most notorious prison. The same drudgery and boredom that plagues its inmates every other day of the year doesn't let up for Hearth's Warming.

Cozy Glow, one of Tartarus's occupants, expected the day to be spent plotting her escape and ascension to Equestria's throne with her 'friend' Lord Tirek. It's how every other day since her arrival has played out, so why not today?

Instead, a mysterious unicorn with a broken horn appears from nowhere. She's here to take Cozy Glow on holiday parole, for a 'proper' Hearth's Warming celebration.

But neither Cozy nor her custodian are what they seem.

It's been six months since Twilight and Tempest started dating, and word's gotten out. They both have plenty of ponies who support their relationship, as well as a fair few who don't for one reason or another. No matter how hard you push away the negativity, it eventually catches up and becomes too much to bear alone.

Tonight, Twilight and Tempest both ask and answer a simple question: Why me?

Tempest Shadow is still unsteady on her hooves, struggling with the decision she made to turn her back on the Storm King. She isn't sure where she fits in, in the bright and colorful world she left behind as a filly. All she can see is the weakness that peace and tranquility has bred into society, and when a new threat rises up, Tempest Shadow might be the only pony who's willing to face it down.
