I was taught all my life that ponies were evil, that ponies were our enemy, and that they were murderous monsters who want nothing more than to kill anything that wasn't a pony or equine like. I was taught that they had encroached onto our lands. I was taught that they beat the drums of war first when they slaughtered outlying villages and razed sacred forests. I believed those that taught me to hate, and I joined with the Imperial Army to hope to drive the equine scourge back from our lands. That was the case until i was captured by the ponies and together we learned the truths from the lies.

This is the third night in a row Fluttershy has been awoken from Discord's nightmares. Finally, he decides enough is enough and opens up to her about his past. He lets everything out from the rise and fall of his family to the rise and fall of the enslaved ponies.

A minor dreamwalker discovers what dwells at the fringes of her dreams.

King Sombra conquered the Crystal Empire, put the populace in chains, and forced them to work day in, day out, mostly for his amusement. Normally, the most that would get somepony is an execution. So, why was he turned into a living shadow, and then frozen for one thousand years?

Well, pull up a chair, my friends, and I'll tell you a tale.

Herman always believed that ponies were an exceedingly friendly bunch, and he figured it was in their nature to be open and kind to all strangers—even to those of different races. But what if he was wrong? What if there was another explanation?

He mentions this fact in his memoirs, but shortly after he sends them to be published he is informed that the Royal Guard wants him for questioning in Canterlot.
