This is the first installment of the Sleepy Author Challenge.
What happened was that I wrote this at about two in the morning with no game plan and no editors or proofreaders. I also did this in one sitting. I did not, nor will I ever edit this myself. (My eyes still hurt.)

The prompt for this fic was "Lyra makes pudding at 4 AM," requested by Vargras.

You thought to love even the sun and that she might, somehow, come to love you. As if she could ever love some sad, misshapen thing.

And you changed yourself, so utterly, so horribly. A useless, broken mockery of what she was.

And now? Now all you have are your memories.

Rainbow Dash's latest flying routine was interrupted by a sudden mountain, and Twilight can hardly sleep at night. No pony should be this excited to play with necromancy.

Aryanne, Ponyville's resident Nazi sympathizer, unicorn supremacist, and self-hating earth pony, gets asked to be the substitute teacher for Ms. Cheerilee's class when the latter pony falls ill one morning. During a lecture about the finer points of eugenics, Ayranne discovers that the ponies of Ponyville aren't quite as excited about the Final Solution as she is.

A long time ago, things were different under the Princesses. While Celestia tried her hardest to keep things running during the day, Luna indulged in her love of fillies all night, and eventually the conflict would cause one sister to be exiled while the other had to carry on alone for a thousand years. Even after the Princess of the Night returned, her sister had to explain to her that times had changed, and her indulgences were unhealthy and unacceptable.

When a freak reading accident causes Twilight to be admitted to the Ponyville hospital, Rainbow Dash is right by her side. Compelled by a sense of duty and repayment, she takes it upon herself to cheer up her friend.

They've known each other for a long time, now, so Rainbow Dash thinks its time to share with her friends something cherished and precious: a chance to meet her beloved father. However, what they will learn on that visit will give them much to think about over the years to come.
