Can Shining navigate a parent-teacher meeting?

Written for the 'Shining Armour is a Terrible Dad' contest. With minimal time to spare, as is my custom.

After washing up on a beach unknown to you, you found yourself in Maretime Bay, a place full of talking, magical ponies. It didn't take long for you to realize that you were in another world, but at least you had some new friends to give you a helping hoof.

Of these ponies, Princess Pipp Petals became particularly interested in you, and you quickly became an inseparable duo. Well, sort of.

You can't say you necessarily expected to end up in a different world, but if you did, you probably would have hoped that your cute alien girlfriend wouldn't be a social media influencer.

Things have been going well between you and Pipp. Your relationship is healthy, your friends are all supportive, and you even got the approval of her mother, Queen Haven. Now, the two of you are enjoying a leisurely visit to Zephyr Heights together, finally getting to spend some quiet time away from work.

Surely it couldn't hurt to indulge in a little bit of brushing and pampering, right?

What was supposed to be a friendly visit for Twilight to discuss her doubts about her last descision, turns into a wild goose chase as a ruthless monster ravages the Capital.

Will the combined force of Twilight and Celestia be enough to stop it?

Could something be learned from the whole ordeal?

Idolize; Verb: to revere or love greatly something in excess.

It isn't often someone idolizes someone. Some would call that excessive or premature; especially in today's young culture. To truly idolize someone is hard to come upon when we use the word so freely. People 'idolize' this and that, not truly knowing the gravity of what the word really means; the commitment it entails.

That said, Twilight Sparkle could re-write the entire dictionary in her sleep; fixing all the inconsistencies and mistakes. That is why when she believes she idolizes Fleur de Lis, she isn't just making mountains out of molehills.

Of course everyone adores Fleur. But none so zealously as Twilight Sparkle... So why does Fleur hate her so much?

Still based on Fleur de Lis' clean and burning hatred oozing from "Friendship Games".

Hate; Verb: a feeling of intense or passionate dislike for something or someone.

Hate is seen as a strong word. A word that rarely ever meets how much someone doesn't like something else or someone else. Usually people just exaggerate it but never truly hate anything or anyone. To hate hardly ever truly happens when you're just a child; you just don't know better.

Now, psychologists have been trying to explain that to Fleur for years. She couldn't possibly hate Twilight Sparkle. She hardly even knows her. But she hates... And her hate is deep rooted and it builds every single day.

Sure, no one likes Twilight at Crystal Prep. Really, who would? But Fleur hates. And her hate goes deep.

Lyra is one of the more prouder and outspoken Wondercolts, often unafraid to show where she stands. She shares similar sentiments with her classmates that the Shadowbolts are arrogant and jerks. Even Trixie agrees with that sentiment and shares a hatred for their rivals. She probably hates her former friends that attend CPA more though, internally hoping she doesn't see them during the Games.

Sunset just doesn't like people who remind her of who she used to be and Crystal Prep is full of people like that, from Suri to Neon Lights.

As Misty runs away from the brighthouse in a guilty panic, an unrelated botched spell leads to her meeting a fiery unicorn with a similar story to tell

Shining Armor is... mostly aware of what his little sister's been up to since the Friendship Games. Cadence keeps him in the loop, but she refuses to talk about some topics, insisting that it isn't her place to discuss them. When his phone rang a few moments ago, he thought Twilight had finally decided the time was right.

He's not entirely wrong, but he'll soon wish he had been.
