One morning, Rarity discovers a strand of gray hair in her mane. It shouldn't bother her, not really; after all, it was bound to happen at some point or another. But when she begins to see the signs of aging appearing on most of her friends, she is forced to confront a harsh truth about life, and what that means for the future.

It is Equestrian tradition that, when a pony comes of a certain age, they are given a magic timer that counts down the days until they're destined to meet their soulmate. Rarity was very excited the day she got hers.

She just hadn't expected it would be counting up.

Short ficlet based on a prompt I got on my Tumblr blog. Original prompt was to write a drabble set in a universe where "timers are set on the wrist of every person once they are a certain age, slowly counting down until the day they meet their soulmate".

The first time it happened, Sunset didn’t pay it any mind due to the circumstances. The second time it happened, she noticed it and brushed it off as the action of a concerned friend. The third time it happened, she finally figured out that Rarity was flirting with her.

When you're an alien immigrant, you don't really have the luxury of a family to celebrate the holiday's with. So, Sunset has gone years without a proper Hearth's Warming.

Usually she just eats Fruit Loops, Egg Nog, and Bourbon for her holiday meal and watches TV Specials in her sweatpants. Honestly, it's been pretty great.

Though this year, Rarity wants to mess with the status quo.

Months after Rarity saved Twilight Sparkle from the clutches of Tirek, Chrysalis, and Cozy Glow with a rock, the unicorn wonders what it really means to have a rock as her destiny. More precisely, what that means for her feelings for Twilight. She needs help to understand. She needs a rock expert.

Quick story for Valentine's Day.

For hundreds of years, the White Elf of the Forest, Rarity, and the Lemondrop Fairy, Fluttershy, have quarreled in the deep woods. One day, a foolish human woman dares trespass on their territory, so they decide to make a contest out of her. Whichever fae is best able to use glamour and trickery to win her heart wins both the quarrel and her.

However, Twilight Sparkle proves to be a more wily quarry than expected.

T rating is mainly for Shakespeare style double entendres.

Writing style is inspired by A Midsummer Night's Dream and Much Ado About Nothing, including some paraphrases of lines from each. It doesn't go full Shakespeare, but there is a lot of old-timey dialogue and a sonnet.

Premise came from Undome Tinwe and Lingo.

After a successful day of work, Rarity has a celebratory potion. Immediately after, her friends all start awkwardly hitting on her. Surely this is unrelated.

Rated T for innuendo.
