Some people find travelling by train to be relaxing, Rarity among them. However, on her way to the Vanhoover Mountain Range, she finds herself lost in her own mind more often than not. The only thing that pulls her away is the music that accompanies her dinners. More accurately, the musician.

This was an intriguing look at a world where Celestia turns people who bring her desserts into her personal students.

To be serious, you did a great job with descriptions, including Celestia's songs, and had lots of interesting dialogue. The realizations that Rarity's old flame was Trixie was a nice moment, with decreasingly subtle clues. Celestia as a wandering musician who gave up her crown is a great evocative image. Good job.

Fascinating, and incredibly well-written. Good work as usual, Nons~

There's an interesting dramatic irony as we hear about the "legend of the immortal" ... we know going into it that Celestia is, well, Celestia; we recognize the tale that Rarity in this AU simply can't. I'm not sure how to describe the effect it has, but it definitely colours the story. Not at all a bad thing! It just turns it from what in original fiction might be a perplexing mystery to fanfic as a plunging sadness. (I suppose if it were original fiction, that'd be the effect of rereading).

Out of universe, I must say this story is incredibly you. Something about how literally alive we are in the music -- it's wonderful.

Thank you for sharing this fic.

I still can't believe you cut out the poutine scene.

There was never a poutine scene. I swear.

Absolutely amazing

This is some pretty good stuff.

Oh my, this is lovely. I do so love how effortlessly you can write the conversation between Rarity and Celestia, and how natural their interaction felt. The snatches of worldbuilding also paint a fascinating world that's revealed just enough to feel real while remaining mysterious.

Gosh but you paint such a lovely picture of Celestia. I'd love to see more of her.
