This is a tale inspired by the animation "Children of the Night" by Duo Cartoonist via YouTube and by how the author had first interpreted the video. Nightmare Moon and Princess Luna's banishment are not canon in this story.

Ever since Discord was defeated and turned to stone, the two brave Princess sisters, Celestia and Luna have ruled Equestria. And they have been working on rebuilding Equestria to its natural state with all their might. But one thing had caught Luna's eye and had escaped Celestia's notice: how certain children were treated and leading miserable lives.

Somehow managing a negotiation with her sister, Luna gathers the children and leads them to a far off land, still within the bounds of Equestria. When they settle, Princess Luna promises the foals and new, prosperous colony which will ensure the strength and happiness of ponykind. And what can go wrong with that? Lots more than expected. Can Princess Luna safely protect her Children of the Night?

In an alternate universe, a young colt lives on the ruined streets of Canterlot. He lost his family and his home after the Princesses' war with the creature Discord, but never lost hope as he searches for them. Story based upon the OC and haunting video "Children of the Night" created by Duo Cartoonist and used by their gracious permission.

It's hard being the one no one pays any attention to, even worse when your Royalty and it feels like no one knows you exist. Luna starting to get tired of it, goes to drastic measures to show off all the hard work she puts making the night to a group of foals. Meanwhile Celestia fears for the worst when she's awoken in the middle of the night to claims of kidnapped children. so she and Luna's Guard Captain Black Night attempts to find Luna, while Black Night wrestles with an important decision.

Finding her ward awake long past her bedtime, staring at the Sun rising in the distance through her open bedroom window, a Nightguard foalsitter finds herself recounting an ancient tale to get her to go sleep.

Before her banishment, Luna established a colony in the hope that it would reinvigorate the broken kingdom. Dozens of orphans disappeared off the streets, not missed by most. Though Princess Celestia searched Kingdom of Equestria for decades, the Children of the Night were never found.

A thousand years later in the small town of Ponyville, Scootaloo receives a visitor carrying a grim message. What starts off as a journey to help a dear friend quickly becomes tangled in a conflict that has been brewing since before the rise of Nightmare Moon. These are histories not archived in any marble library in Canterlot. These are stories of seafarers and inkeepers, of orphans and griffins, and of an ancient race that Equestria has long tried to ignore.

Ponies are unique amongst the sentient races in that their souls are equally comprised of light and dark. All the other races have a gravitation towards one or the other, but only the three pony races hold the two in complete balance. It was for this reason that Celestia and Luna came to be in the first place, as the Fates decreed that keeping an entire race on such a narrow path was too great a task for one entity.

Ever since her return from her banishment, Princess Luna has felt something wrong with her subjects. The ponies of Equestria are lively and joyous, their eyes bright and happy as they bask in the light, but one thousand years of light has disturbed the balance of their souls. Now, Luna must take drastic measures to restore it before it destroys her beloved subjects.

Inspired by the poem 'Come Little Children' by Edgar Allen Poe and the video 'Children of the Night' by Spiritto and Lionheart.

The reason for Luna's banishment all those years ago wasn't just because of the rise of Nightmare Moon. It also involved foals. And foalnapping. In that order.

For the first time in thousands of years since Princess Luna established a colony for her Children of the Night, she once again plans to pay a visit to them. The catch? The colony is half-way across the galaxy, and the only way to reach it is through a strange artifact.

With the Mane Six and several unexpected followers, Luna travels to meet those who she left on their lonesome oh so long ago. However, when an evil alien race attacks her colonists and destroys the artifact, finding their way home might not be an easy feat...

A few years have passed since Princess Luna was purged of the evil known as Nightmare Moon by the Elements of Harmony. She took back her rightful place on the throne of Equestria at her sisters side.
On a sunny day, a couple of seemingly mundane events trigger memories long forgotten. Memories of a secret Luna hast kept to herself for far too long. Facing Celestia won't be easy. But she has no choice. It is her duty to care for her subjects, and she has to retake the responsibility she could not fulfill while banished to the moon.
