Fluttershy has returned to Sweet Apple Acres a week after the events of "Bats!" in order to check in on her new animal friends, only to find they have disappeared from their sanctuary, and Applejack is reluctant to tell her where they've gone.

In the midst of autumn's splendor Twilight Sparkle, Spike, Applejack and Rainbow Dash head north to participate in the Hoftston Mare-athon segment of the annual Running of the Leaves.

Yet, as they meet the sea something seems to call Rainbow Dash down, down into the fog and uncertainty that rolls in from beyond the Everfree Forest.

Sol Seraph: named after the Order she is a part of, she considers herself a predator, not a pony. She has been taught to care for only two things: strength, and the hunt... but as she wrestles with emotions for her husband and newborn daughter, she realizes she has to make a choice. But to a sociopath, what is love?

In what was supposed to be her moment of triumph, Nightmare Moon has lost everything. Banished by her sister and the Elements of Harmony, she finds herself alone on the very moon she created.

Utterly alone.

The reason why Princess Luna turned into Nightmare Moon has been alluded to, theorized, and dramatized. But all of the reasons why have been grandiose and very often external in nature. But all that is really needed to turn someone from a being of good to a being of darkness is but a simple whisper and time. A whisper given by a force of hatred and fear.
