It was supposed to be a simple day for Shining Armor. Take his daughter, Flurry Heart, and niece, Nyx, out to run some errands while his sister and wife handle preparations surrounding the Festival of Friendship. It was supposed to be a day of fun, relaxing activity. Yet, after the arrival of an invading army, the day would be anything but pleasant.

Can Shining rally the defenders of Canterlot to oppose Commander Tempest, if only to ensure he, Flurry Heart, and Nyx can escape? Or are they doomed to be captured and possibly turned to stone? 

No matter what happens, it’s a day neither Shining Armor nor Tempest Shadow will ever forget.

Nyx isn't sleeping well. For weeks, her dreams have been visited by a strange specter that haunts her, each dream growing more horrible than the last, her fears gaining a greater hold on her. As time passes the phantom draws closer, forcing Nyx to face the realm of the supernatural. Soon, the filly will be thrust into a world of wonder and imagination, where light and shadow are made into one, and everyone, and everything, deserves a second glance.

When pursuing Starlight, Twilight and Spike experienced variances of Equestria, and saw how the river of time could have been different. Now, Starlight has moved in with Twilight, Nyx, and Spike and has begun her studies in friendship. To thank those who have helped her embrace friendship once more, Starlight has created an enchantment that allows the castle’s map table to let anyone glimpse other variances of reality.

The power to ask “what if,” can be a source of great amusement… but for some, the hypotheticals are haunting reminders of what could have been.

Nyx is learning magic and flying under the best tutors in Equestria, but something keeps going wrong with her magic. It is soon clear that a dark force is at work and all the alicorns in the ruling quadrature have to reconcile their own fractured relationships in pulling together to save Nyx and Equestria.

This fic takes place some time after the end of Past Sins, drawing upon the characters and relationships established by the excellent Pen Stroke.

Please note this short story is not a sequel, but a spin-off starring Nyx, the lovable alicorn filly adopted by Twilight Sparkle.

There is some ‘T’ rated gore in Chapter 6. Clear instructions are provided explaining how to skip past this passage for readers who do not wish to see it, and an ‘E’ rated summary is provided so that these readers do not miss out on the storyline.

Four years since the long night, Nyx, now at the age of nine has been hearing voices calling her name at night, a looming shadow from her armor, a sense of dread hanging over her like a dark cloud. Nyx could feel the magic in her horn pulsating with a new aura, merging and fighting for control.

Suddenly afraid of darkness and of the presence that plagues her at night, the laughter of a specter that seemed to take pleasure in her torment, devours her dreams and fears. The mirrors themselves show a different face, and her friends have no way to help her.

Unwilling to bring this to Twilight, Nyx must battle with Equestria's darkest evil if she is to remain who she is, when two souls clash there can be only one to inherit the body, and Nyx is not ready to give herself up to Nightmare Moon.

Originally a midequal to Into the Beginning: The Life of Writing Glory with a different story completed before hand. This is the second version of this story, changed to fit the Tears in the Snow canon. This story was started on the 11th of October 2013.

Its been two years since Spell Nexus was defeated and his cult destroyed, Nyx and Twilight Sparkle have been preparing for another winter. One that is having an odd effect on Nyx.

As the winter draws even closer, Nyx begins to remember a filly, not from her past, but from Lunas. Filled with questions but nopony to answer them, Nyx investigates as to who this white filly of the snow is, and how she is tied to her past.

Can Nyx discover who this filly in her memory is? Or will the answers be buried beneath the snow.

As an immortal alicorn princess, Twilight Sparkle has lived for a long time. However, her friends were mortal ponies, and they eventually all died. A hundred years after they have all passed on, Twilight can only think about them, and how much they meant to her. Now that they are nothing but memories, how can she carry on?

The answers she seeks may come from a most unexpected source: another alicorn, one who once threatened to cover Equestria in eternal darkness, but whom Twilight considers a daughter. With her help, Twilight might just find that she is truly not alone.

This story takes place after the events of Magical Mystery Cure and Past Sins, which was written by Pen Stroke. Nyx and Past Sins belong to Pen Stroke.

In the wake of the battle with Tirek, Twilight Sparkle becomes fixated on restoring Golden Oaks Library. After all, it was home for her little family of three. But as her attempts to repair the books and tree continuously fail, her friends must take matters into their own hooves. Discord, as the good friend he is, tosses Twilight and her extended family into an unexpected adventure while Twilight's other friends get to work on the new crystal palace.

All together, they'll do everything to ensure Twilight and her family have a place to call home when they reach the end of the road.
