A changeling crash-landed somewhere near Ponyville after being thrown by the shock wave he had experienced back then in Canterlot. Apparently he is parted from his comrades and he's too far away from the Changelings' hive. Luckily for him, the Mane 6 rescued him in order to get information about those Changelings, hoping that they would find and execute the best way to deal with them.

...Mane 6 didn't know about his loss of memory, aside from his bad wounds by the time he was found.

As the stranded changeling awake, it's his new life he'll be continuing with the desire to know his past....

Twenty years before Nightmare Moon's return, a meltdown at the Cheernobyl Magical Power Plant killed thousands of ponies and created the eldritch Zone of Desolation. It was the worst disaster Equestria faced in almost two thousand years. From this catastrophe came waves of mutated creatures, deadly radiation, and strange magical anomalies. The Changeling race has been around longer than most ponies realize. They've always found ways to feed themselves without resorting to violence. But after their leader attacks Canterlot, one pony decides to throw away his life to see things change.

The Resistance was the name survivors of humanity began to call themselves. The Chimera onslaught has claimed billions of lives and those who survive have lost almost all hope of survival. With the victims either dying or joining the Chimera ranks the odds were against any human victory. America was to be the last chance at survival of humanity. Soon America's defenses fell to the unrelenting creatures. Now with the Chimera knocking on the gates of America’s last stronghold a final desperate mission is drawn up to turn the tides of war.

Riley is one of the few survivors of that fateful mission. After the events of the mission he finds himself in Equestria. Even in this peaceful world he will find no rest. Danger doesn’t just exist in the stars but within his own blood.
