After a freakish blizzard in the mountains of Equestria, Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash find themselves hopelessly trapped inside a freezing cold cave. What's worse is that Rainbow Dash has been injured! Twilight not only has to deal with the injured pegasus, but also must deal with her feelings toward Dash.

Twilight has been waiting and waiting for a new letter from Rainbow Dash. The Pegasus had been off fighting in the war that broke out across Equestria, however, she is killed in action.

When Twilight finally receives a letter, it isn't what she's expecting.

Twilight Sparkle has been unable to get any sleep for the past three weeks because of a dream. The saddest and most horrible dream she has ever dreamed. A dream where Rainbow Dash, the somepony she is in love with, dies. Spike has urged Twilight to tell Rainbow Dash, figuring it would stop the dream but the alicorn is just too stubborn to do so. What will Twilight do? Will she continue letting the dream keep from sleeping and risk driving herself insane or will she finally open up to Rainbow Dash?
