Four years ago Vinyl and Octavia broke up. It was messy, painful and left scars on both of them. Four years on, now one of the most successful DJs in Equestria’s history, Vinyl receives news that Octavia has been in a terrible accident. The doctors say she may never recover from her coma, but Vinyl refuses to believe them. There are all sorts of stories about coma patients who are brought back by the voice of someone they care about, right? No matter what anypony else says, offers or threatens, and no matter what it costs her personally or professionally, she is determined to stay by Octavia’s side and do all she can to wake her.

But four years is a long time, and no matter how many fairytales end with the princess waking up, real life owes no-one a happy ending.

My marefriend Vinyl Scratch, has been wanting to, well, do as marefriends do. Problem is I've never seen her that way before. What is wrong with me? I know it sounds sounds silly, but I'm afraid. And not the kind of excited afraid. I just really don't want this to go where she wants it. Does that make me a horrible person?

Well here we go then, let's give this a pop. My first go at FiM Fiction. This story was originally written for an English assignment. Due to it's praise I thought I'd ponify it and lob it on here.

I wrote this because I've never seen a fic tackle the topic of asexuality. I think it's an interesting topic, and one that is close to my heart.

I think it's a little too short for my liking, but there was a 1100 word limit. (which the original one hits exactly)

There was only one explanation. For all of it. All of the strange, erratic behavior. Her irrational fear of the sun. Her nocturnal habits of locking herself in in the dark and closing all the blinds. Wearing her sunglasses everywhere, even inside! It was time to invest in some silver, garlic, and a wooden stake.

After attending Rainbow Dash and Applejack's wedding, one thing and one thing alone plagues Octavia's mind. Unfortunately, she makes the mistake of telling her marefriend, who responds in the worst way. Seeking refuge from the conflict, Vinyl Scratch attends a gig in Las Pegasus. On the way, she meets a colt whose actions will change the future of ponies that he hasn't even met yet.

Living as an independent DJ has given Vinyl Scratch a rough life. Things are not easy, and they're getting tougher. When she meets Octavia Philharmonica, she finds herself entranced as well as filled with resentment. Only time will tell if their connection through music will spawn a beautiful relationship or a formidable rivalry.
