Twilight Sparkle has always admired Princess Celestia. Her fortitude, her wisdom, her eternal grace and love for all her subjects. Twilight has often fantasized about what it would be like to be in Princess Celestia's horseshoes. She never imagined those fantasies would come true.

Trent's life sucks. His parents don't understand him, so he moved out. His used-to-be friends all think he's strange for being a brony, except one. The only time he ever really gets to talk to people is over the internet on My Little Pony themed forums. He is lonely and sad, even when his friend is around. But all of that changes on one stormy night, when he finds something incredible hidden on the side of the road.

Discord had one last trick up his sleeve to play before being locked up again: he's turned Equestria's timeless protector into its most dangerous threat. Can Twilight Sparkle survive being the student of a pony who never had need of the magic of friendship or will she be forced to sit on the sidelines as Equestria irrevocably changes around her?

In a world where she sees from a distorted perspective, all Twilight Sparkle can do is cling to the one pony she knows will never let her down: her teacher, the princess... no matter which princess her addled brain tells her that is. Twilight's used to rewriting letters, but when she's the one being rewritten, she finds the sensation to be altogether different.

As Octavia returns home from her Grand Galloping Gala audition. She finds herself wanting a drink but all of the bars that she knows of are closed. So Octavia takes it upon herself to venture towards a club of which she has never been to before. It is here where she meets one Vinyl Scratch. As the two spend more time for each other they realise that they are made for each other.

Cheer up, Twilight. It's not every day somepony changes species. In fact, no pony has ever changed species. It's something new and you like discovering new things. Granted, Equestrians don't like new things, especially things that fundamentally alter their government. So maybe there is reason not to be happy after all.

After hours at the Sugarcube Corner, a heavy storm thundering outside, Pinkie finds a pony knocking on the door.
